I'm confused...where's the gold??

#4 6 years ago

Should be "Chrome Edition". Just a standard pro with chrome/lollypop hardware (no millennium falcon that I see). I almost feel bad for the poor suckers that buy this. Then again, if they have 17k to drop without caring to know what you're buying, more power to Frontgate to sucker people out of their money.

Exactly - there is no gold. This is ridiculous. I'd like to see if they actually sell any. Anyone that took 30 seconds to do a google search would figure out this is a total ripoff.

I was going to order 7 of them but shipping kills the deal.

Talk about a scam

"Limited edition of 100" ? I thought at first it was a pro but there is no centre button on the lock down bar. I don't know what this thing is.

#11 6 years ago

LOL its based on a pro!

I didn’t notice that...no center button. What code could they possibly use excluding that button. I starting to call shenanigans on this one. I’m curious if anyone has called Frontgate and acted like they want to buy this to get the true specs.

#13 6 years ago

I'd be in for $16K but they just pushed it too far.

#15 6 years ago

Ok, I called them. I asked who the manufacturer was. They told me it was confidential and was specially made for Frontgate, but was made in the USA. Soooo, anyone want to pony up 17K to see why it's 17K? Maybe the whole machine levitates during a certain mode...

I didn't notice that - That is literally crazy. The button does so much in Star Wars. Man I'm so curious now. Someone is getting an unplayable game for over 3x what it should cost.

#17 6 years ago

Too funny - they've renamed it now (without renaming the hyperlink):

STAR WARS PLATINUM EDITION PINBALL MACHINE

https://www.frontgate.com/star-wars-gold-edition-pinball-machine/1107840?SourceCode=ZZ51120&cm_mmc=Comparison+Shopping-_-Google+Product+Listings-_-NA-_-NA&intlShippingCtx=US%7CUSD&CATARGETID=120245420002248058&cadevice=c&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIuNjJ17mb1wIVBKxpCh3iawdlEAQYASABEgJ9t_D_BwE

I guess someone realized there wasn't any gold on it. The Stern logo can clearly be seen but I still don't get how it doesn't have a button on the lockdown bar.

#18 6 years ago

I heard you have to send them a video that shows why you are worthy enough to purchase one of these extremely limited platinum games.

#19 6 years ago

I have a bad feeling about this.

#20 6 years ago

17G????Not here,no way!!

#21 6 years ago

Well snap, looks like all 100 are sold:

"New
We apologize, but this item is no longer available."

Good news though, they are still offering a refurbished NBA for 7,000

Edit #3 - omg, they are killing me here. A Guns and Roses for 27k (autographed)
https://www.frontgate.com/one-of-a-kind-autographed-guns-n-27-roses-pinball-machine/gifts/game-enthusiasts/1107751

They actually have a ton of refurbished pins available for 8 - 9k.

$50,000!?!?

I'm pretty sure whoever is involved is somebody here on Pinside hiding in the shadows. They saw how you guys were tearing it apart and decided they weren't fooling anybody...with Star Wars, at least.

#23 6 years ago

At least it was based off of the better playing model though...

I always wonder how many suckers they manage to reel in on these sorts of things.

Can any person just sell on frontgate?

Quoted from Deez:

Good question. Makes me wonder if someone modded a Stern SW pin and tried to sell it to Frontgate...then Stern got wind and shut it down.

#27 6 years ago

I inquired about the pin. This is their response.

Thank you for your interest in our Star Wars Platinum Edition Pinball Machine. The pricing on this is how the vendor has them priced. This is a limited Editon as well. Unfortuantely we are unsure as to why there isnt a button on the lock down bar. We do apologize for this.

If you’re ready to place an order we welcome you to call us anytime at 1-800-436-2100. One of our sales associates would be more than happy to place the order for you. We do appreciate your interest in Frontgate and thank you for contacting us.

You guys have missed once crucial element....the company provides a warranty...a real one year no questions warranty...given recent quality issues at sterns, the selling price makes more sense.

Will they replace my lock down bar when I bash a hole in it trying to kill tie fighters?

I wouldn't buy a damn thing from a company whose customer relations people can't spell or punctuate properly.

17k for a SW pro with a chrome lockbar?? You could have all the cast members sign it and it still wouldn’t be worth it.
