Help. Bought new. Two months later and the magnet is not holding when you hit the shot for Vengeance Multi Ball - so you never activate it. The Klingon multiball feature works perfect b/c it is activated by trapping the ball with a raised drop target.

I bought machine from Mike at Pinballs.com. He gave me the email of a guy at Stern - no response for three days. I emailed [email protected] yesterday and no reply yet.

What’s my next move? Ask Mike to send a tech? Any advice for self fix - I have no experience? I just got a temp work furlough and am home for 3 weeks and would love to fix ASAP.

Thanks!

Not sure Mike can send anybody - youre usually on your own (with pinside help) in this hobby.

Did you check the fuses? My Metallica blew a fuse for the magnet before.

Any switches out as well? Do the ramps register?

Are you sure it is the magnet and not the 2nd set of optos that is you issue?

Fuse F7 on the I/O driver board in the backbox is for the magnet. 4A Slow Blow.

Check to see if it blew and replace if needed.

Can’t I get an expert on consignment to come whenever I need them for maintenance or repair?
That seems more up my alley?.
I don’t know how to properly execute any of the diagnostic tests or know what an opto is. Though I may try the fuse thing, That sounds promising. I’m gonna get a good nights sleep before I make any moves or extremely poor choices.
Thanks all.

Super simple. Remove the backglass from the game, set aside. Turn the game on and ensure the coin door is closed. Find F7 screen printed in white below the fuses in a row near the top, center of the largest board in the backbox. There should be a red LED lit below the F7 fuse. If the LED is off, the fuse is blown. Take a picture and post it here if in doubt.

Again, make sure the coin door is closed. The safety interlock cuts high voltage to several circuits which will cause several of the LEDs to be off including F7.

DO NOT touch the fuses while the game is on. Some are 50V and can shock you. If it is blown, turn the game off, wait a minute, then remove.

Just replaced the F7 fuse in my X-men that deals with the magnets, I’ve heard it’s almost always the fuses when it comes to them.

So its def not the fuse coz - now it decided to start working about 50% of the time. So frustrating. Oh well, thanks for all your help.
