STTNG owners, does anyone have these specialty balls loaded on a STTNG machine? Not sure if the coating actually lasts or not (wear properties). Would like to get your opinions! http://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/PB116-BST

I had similar ones in my DE Simpsons. I took them out after only a few plays because I felt they were difficult to see. So I can't really comment on how they wear...

That was the other concern I had. The playfield is dark as it is and I believe it'd be very difficult to see the black ball.

I will throw them in Star Trek tonight and let you know...

Fantastic, thank you!

I can speak from personal experience that black balls are generally harder to follow when playing.

Are those from Back Alley Creations?

I believe they came from Back Alley on Ebay, but I can't find them now

I have one in my SM. I think the game would suffer having them all black balls because they are harder to follow, but having one just seems to add a little bit of complexity. The coating does slowly wear. I haven't looked at the one in SM for awhile, but it was sort of speckled last time I looked.

I've studied them up close, and those definitely look like Matt's balls ...

I have these in my STTNG. And yes, they are kinda dark. When it comes time to replace them, I will just use the regular balls.

Well, I put three into Star Trek tonight, and I had a hard time seeing them. My machine has LEDs, if that makes a difference. I think I will stick with the silver balls.
