beautiful job you are doing. I'm beside myself how well it's turning out.

One suggestion for you on the connectors. Since you've gone to all the trouble to clean the harnesses and cables, before you plug everything back in, treat the pins and sockets with DeOxIt from Caig Labs, or ProGold for the gold-plated connections. It will dissolve existing corrosion and keep oxidation from building up on the connectors over time and especially on a STTNG, that "Z"-connector which was causing pesky restarts on my machine.

I treat any "pluggable" connection in the pins with the DeOxIt and/or ProGold as a preventative measure when I shop out the machine. Including the batteries too.

Note: I have no connection to Caig Labs or any distributor of the product -- just a big believer, have used it for years.

nice work! I saw how you were cleaning the copper pieces. If you want to protect them from oxidation again, you can use a little trick I've used.

On any area where there is no electrical contact, you can apply a thin layer of clear nail polish. It will keep the copper surfaces shiny. Note that if there is an area that has 'flex' to it, the nail polish may eventually stress fracture and fail.

Quoted from lb1:

Thanks for the tips. I will try out both.

I think the clear polish would work on the chrome too, although I've never tried that. I have used Nu-Finish on other things but never tried chrome. I may try that on my lavatory fixtures and see how it works.
