Hi guys I'm new to modding, I just picked up a Star Trek TNG. I'm going to be doing several mods, and I'll be posting my progress in here.

My #1 mod I'd like to do that I haven't seen anyone do, is a Borg ship laser mod. I'd like to hook up green lasers that shoot a line twords the player(but not up out the glass) when the Borg ship shoots.

I've found a source for laser parts and have electrical experience but How could I go about doing this? What circuits would I want to trigger this mod?

Another idea I've had is to put EL wire along the warp ramp wire frame and have it light only when the ramp is hit

Other mods I'm going to be doing
-Full leds (kit suggestions?)
-Painted Borg ship and Borg ship Windows
-clear pop bumpers w/ color changing led
-lane extenders
-hallmark ships
-shaker
-Color DMD

Like too see what the final Borg laser would look like, however would only be used when in multiball , no other mods involve the Borg so it would be limited. Have fun with you new game, definitely a fun game ! I didn't use a light kit I purchased my bulbs from comet and made the color scheme my own ...

Strongly recommend LED OCD and GI OCD!

Back to this laser mod, should I be worried about using a 10 MW line laser? I'd like the extra visibility but if the laser were to reflect off a ball or something it should still be safe right?

the green ones are much stronger than the red. Red one wont cause damage on a reflection, green ones not so sure. Probably not cause they would be reflecting off a curved surface.

I'm thinking it's probably safe it's also under glass.

They have green lasers that shoot a line. I'm thinking of using 4 diodes to make it look like the Borg tractor beam from the show

Tell that to airline pilots that get hit by laser strikes by the ground. They have documented cases of it causing permanent eye damage. Just because it is under glass does not make it safe. Green Lasers are no joke.

my friend had LEDs on the ships that were nice.

The cannon laser mod is popular, yet makes the cannon shots easier.
