Played both. Own neither. Will not buy either. They are both very cool games and I have enjoyed playing them. I say go with Metallica. Just a more striking and visually interesting cabinet. I think the game play is a little better as well. You say you don't know what to do - just more time it will keep you engaged learing how to play it and developing a strategy.
