Thanks Pinzzz. Those pictures are pretty clear and helpful.

Pics look great. I like those protectors. Will purchase those for sure. They even look good like part of the originality of the pin.

Quoted from Pinzzz:

^Metal ramps on all LE's and Prem's!.Or if they offer metal ramps on all the games as a paid upgrade. What would be the percentage of buyers ordering that option?.80,90,100%.
I would have it on all my games!.

Or at least have the ramp returns as wireforms like the premium and LE models. That way if you need to replace a ramp, you are replacing a smaller part and one that is hopefully less expensive. Plastic looks great when new, but it gets dirty, scratched and full of ball tracks.

I don't know why, but dreamt about flame polishing ramps last night..... :O No, I don't do that either!

Hmm.. maybe I will bend my stock protectors to make the Freddy protectors fit... I really hate the thought of doing so, but they do look good from Pinzzz's photos.

Great idea! I like it.

Just need to say that Freddy's is awesome! They are extremely easy to order from via email. They keep you informed the whole way of shipment status. And, I got my order (from Germany!) in under a week.

Also, the protectors look great and totally blend in with the game. The pictures don't really do justice to it, as I mistakenly thought the protectors were plastic in the pictures. But, they are polished metal and look perfect. I can even hit the ramps better with them on! Woo hoo!

Agree with all the above. I ordered from Freddie, then the next day (before they arrived)I chipped my middle ramp! Protectors arrived quickly after I ordered, and I put them on immediately. See photos for how I bent the originals using my plastic prybar. I put the freddie protector behind it (as it would be on the game) then used the prybar/wedge to slightly bend out the original Stern protectors. I tried both the plastic prybar and a wide bade screwdriver. The plastic prybar was harder to create the gap vs the screwdriver but the screwdriver was much faster. Both worked well but after bending the protectors, the plastic prybar was destroyed (no biggie, I keep spares)

Stern made my whole damn blackbox metal but made the ramps in plastic... wtf is in their heads? I bet if they do it the other way, they will save some$$$ and made owners happy.

Too late for me, as I will not buy another Stern NIB. Metals ramps are the way to go IMO.

Plastic ramps have been around for decades, including the heyday of a ally/Williams. It's not always a cost cutting thing as some designers like that you can see-through clear plastic ramps.

I have a left pro ramp for sale if someone needs one.

ok this game has seen a whole lot of games! which is good.. and yes it actually paid off the whole machine on route during its approx 2 years of operation.. (see picture)

but still just having the Startrek Pro for 2 years shouldnt break the ramps that easily is it? the game is bricked now,
the silverball destroyed the vengeance opto as it hitted the backside of the optic transmitter.

what can u guys suggest me to do? and where can i find a replacement ramp for this game?
i have been searching the interwebs but no luck so far..
will it be better just to sell off the machine and buy an totally new Startrek Pro HUO? considering the cost indication of the ramps im getting (500 bucks) it might be the right choice just to sell it off and buy another startrek..

having that all said, the ramps on its predecessor Startrek TNG which is now more then 20 years old are way more durable then the Stern version, it actually scares the hell out of me.. in ten years from now probably ALL the Startrek ramps will be damaged if u dont mod protect the startrek like unfortunally on this heavily used routed game..
