Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

Okay now for the pics. Below I tried to give you a nice look at the great powder coat job included in the Pinball Refinery Edition.

Just a suggestion, but you can buy darker blue t-molding. If that was my machine I'd swap that in instead of the light blue to better match that nice powder coat.

Not sure if your machine is ¾" you'll want to verify that before ordering if you do it.

I think if I bought a Pro or a Premium I'd have to make myself a new translite featuring the Enterprise instead of actors' heads, and I'd swap out the t-molding for black.

Quoted from tbanthony:

I received my 2nd Badge Prop Replica and took a picture of the backside mounting and with both on the machine.

That looks sweet, nice work.

#122 10 years ago
Quoted from dhalem:

I ordered two of the badge prop replicas from Amazon. Despite them listed as being in stock, it promised a delivery data about a month from now. Did you have a similar experience?

Yup. I don't even have a Star Trek yet but I ordered a couple just in case. Got that same weird time estimate. Figured I didn't really care, so I just let it ride. It might be BS.

#124 10 years ago

I think if you care there's an Amazon Prime option for a couple bucks more each. I wasn't in any kind of rush so I just let it go, those estimates are often way off.

#127 10 years ago

Yeah my badges shipped too, that estimate was garbage. The good news is I just put in an order on a Premium to stick them on.

So I won't have a Pro, but I am planning on giving mine my alt translite treatment, and I'll make sure the colors on it work with both the Pro and Premium if anyone is interested.

#130 10 years ago
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:

Well got the T-Molding switched out here's some pics. Overall I think the color goes better with the theme and powder coat on the pin.

Nice. I think I'll probably have the same problem with the premium, t molding not matching powerdcoat, if it bugs me I'll swap it for black.

#132 10 years ago

¾" t-molding, any sharp object will cut just fine, and chrome t-molding is tacky.

#138 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

You couldn't resist, good for you and a Premium no less. I call first dibs on your Premium TL......if you decide to sell it that is. Can't wait to see what you come up with for the TL.

Too late, someone already PM'd me earlier today to be first on the list for my as of yet non-existent product!

Honestly I got the bug after playing Rarehero's LE, and then I played a couple casual local tournments on it, and it's just a great, fun to shoot pin. I hope the Karl Urban pack is great, and I wouldn't be mad at rule improvements at all, but as it is I couldn't resist.

I know this is a Pro thread, so I'll keep the Premium specific stuff out of it. Obviously any translite I do will work fine on either Pro/Prem. I'll keep both the stock red and blue t-molding in mind.

#141 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

No I mean the one that comes with your Premium...when you swap it out for the one you'll do.

Oh lol. I'll probably keep it so I can return it to stock if needed.

#146 10 years ago
Quoted from MrSanRamon:

What are you thinking of doing with the red T-molding on the premium...other than waiting to see how good or bad the match with the rest of the machine?

My first thought was, if the match was off to perhaps paint the T-molding a deeper red.

Gonna wait until I see it, I've never seen a Premium in person. But if it bugs me I'd most likely swap it for black, not try and paint it.

Quoted from Nepi23:

The speaker panel would need something additional, but the JoeRaptor's chromepanel does not fit together with the T-moldings I think and I do not know about adding the decal presented in this thread to the speaker panel either. I guess I am waiting for new mods to be put there

I just got my Premium yesterday, and now that I see how the speaker panel works I'm thinking I might make a new decal for it to match my translite (Pro and Premium are the same in that regard). No promises, have to experiment some, but I think it would work well. That was the secret to my Shadow translite, redoing the speaker panel to match.

#159 10 years ago

I will attempt to make it so awesome that you cannot resist!

#162 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

and if you could "somehow" make it and cover up those speakers and not have it affect the sound. One solid panel of your great artwork would look GREAT!!!

Physics says that's probably not gonna happen. Some kind of PETG panel with a sticky back and interesting cut shapes for the speaker panels maybe, but you cover them and you're gonna affect the sound.

#165 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

how about drilling a thousand little holes for the sound to come out then print the thing. I know the printing would look different over the holes so maybe you could do the artwork different over those but still have the solid artwork on the panel.

If you look the other problem is the speakers already have their own cut out, so a decal would have to deal with the lip and depression created by that.

I dunno, I only just got the game, I haven't measured anything or mocked up ideas or really given it much thought beyond "hey, let's do that part too".

#167 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

You said some kind of PETG panel, that's why I said drill a thousand holes.

Yeah, that might be possible. I think with the speaker light and badge mods that it's probably best to leave them free and clear though.

#181 10 years ago
Quoted from foxtj24:

Added both badges to speakers and a signed Premium translite to my pro.

Nice, that confirms my suspicion that if done right a translite can work equally well on either machine, looks fine on a Pro.

#184 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Tempting, but I want the whole game.

Good call.

#188 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

How bout you sell me yours.

Haha, noooooope, this one is staying for a while.

#191 10 years ago
Quoted from Kneissl:

Aurich, how soon till we see your plans for trek art?

Hard to say, it's one of those will be ready when it's ready things. I don't normally announce stuff ahead of time, I just show it when it's good to go, but I got kinda excited about buying a Star Trek I guess.

I definitely need some time to work on it, and possibly do test prints before I'm ready to announce it, but I do want to get it done. How that Helen has shipped I'm gonna shift gears back to it, start working on the preliminary work.

#194 10 years ago

lol. The plan is to do something more like the LE, hero shot of the new Enterprise with a colorful space scene that's not boring to light up (so not all black). Beyond that I just have to see how things go.

#197 10 years ago
Quoted from tbanthony:

I realize you have the Premium and it's already covered with space battle art, but that's the aspect I kind of miss on the Pro. I'm actually not that into the LE art. Something blowing up or something more relevant to the movie storyline would be preferable IMO than some generic hero shot of the ship. I wouldn't use the image below, but just indicating that I'd rather see something action oriented. The game is full of action. It's one of the baddest ass fast games ever and it's basically a space battle theme. Make it dynamic.

Point taken, I'll keep that in mind.

#201 10 years ago
Quoted from QuarterGrabber:

Aurich made his announcement about making an alternate translite for ST one day after I ordered this.

I could have saved you from staring at the wrong ship!

Seriously, who knows when I'll finish or if you'll even like it, so just enjoy for the time being.

#203 10 years ago
Quoted from MustangPaul:

Question for you Aurich, when you do your designing do you take into account the positions of the bulbs that will be light your masterpiece? Especially when it come to colors of bulbs to light certain objects in the artwork. That could really add a dramatic effect to the artwork.

Oh yeah, for sure, that's a big part of making it successful. With the Shadow I took a picture of the backbox with the translite off and scaled it in Photoshop so I'd have a map of all the lights when I was designing. It can be challenging, sometimes they're in random spots and you have to compromise between fitting them exactly and making the design work.

The Stern games obviously are different, the light tube is a lot more "dumb" in that respect. What's cool is that people are doing custom light kits for Helen, and Gio at the Refinery already told me he wants to do one for Star Trek when I get a design. So I don't have to work backwards so much for that.

If I was do to say BSD or Congo, hit another of the bad movie great game trilogy, I'd totally do the same thing though, map the lights out ahead of time.
