Quoted from jonh:
So I just got my first NIB machine, a Star Trek Pro and it had the shaker motor installed when I received it.
But every time the shaker motor starts going off all 3 of the flippers flutter a little, not a full flip but about a quarter of an inch.
Its the Stern OEM shaker motor.
I’ve checked the gap in the leaf switches for the flippers and they look fine.
I ran the shaker in test mode and the flippers didn’t move.
I checked all of the solder joints and connectors and everything seems to be fine.
Any ideas of where to look next?
There is meant to be a filter installed when the shaker is installed. The filter goes in between the wiring loom and driver board (back box) and comes with the shaker kit. The filter stops feedback from the shaker motor accidentally firing other coils through the driver board. We do not have any older machines left, otherwise I would post a photo for you. The filter looks like a IDC joiner with capacitors on it.
Ask the distro that fitted your shaker for the filter and the instructions so you can put the filter on. Long term use without the filter could cause damage to your driver board. We have had it happen on a AVLE.
I would disconnect the shaker (or turn it off in the menu) until the filter arrives.
Great game, I am sure you and your family will love it.
Good Luck!
