Got a Star Trek Pro that's acting up. Double vends balls, gets confused and doesn't end balls, etc. It's pretty clearly an opto issue, but it has one symptom that baffles me. It will register all four balls in the trough, and no other extra balls, but then start doing a ball search. How exactly is this possible? All I can think of is that the opto is having very quick failures that don't register in switch test. I'm gonna replace both opto boards, and we already solder the wires to the boards to prevent plug issues. Stern is sending me some kind of harness as well. And I'll update the code. But I'm still curious as to what kind of coding could cause that. All I can come up with is that because the drop target is down, it thinks there's a ball in play.

Stern code seems to be generally lacking when it comes to handling flaky optos. The debounce time should be way longer
