Quoted from Mantra:Star Wars fans right now are saying.....
Just think.... Stern can fuck up Star Wars next and Star Wars will kill pinball a 2nd time.... And at a low low price of $20k for an LE.
Quoted from paulohotline:Hey dude, I play the game everyday with my STTNG It has a color DMD and a few other mods that make it fly. No need to pickup the smaller version of this classic!
I've got that translate on my STTNG as well and I love it.
QSS
Not getting this game I was REALLY looking forward too for two reasons.
Price tag is too high now. Not ever going to own anything less than an LE, as most of my collection are LE's now. No justification for price increases, so can't rationalize it with that excuse.
Second, I own SM, shot layout looks very, very similar. To the point I'm playing the almost exact same pf. Dissappointed in SR's lack of originality in this one.
Runner up prize: no Lyman on programming, new blood did most of it. That's what I was led to believe in pinball news.
So stern's distributors are stating they may be selling out if these? Yeah, I call bs and find I have serious apathy towards owning this pin.
Quoted from underlord:Second, I own SM, shot layout looks very, very similar. To the point I'm playing the almost exact same pf. Dissappointed in SR's lack of originality in this one.
I don't think this is a SR "thing". I'm guessing Gary simply doesn't want to pay his people to spend time (lots of it I'm sure) coming up with new designs, we he can just rehash wpc's. Since they have started doing this with Tron, everything has gone very good for them. Why would he change?
"we hate it / it's the same / it's too much - ahhhh f it, I'll take two!"
Lmao. Yeah, that was funny.
Was working for Gary, but instead of letting the speculators take the risks, he's doing it himself now and is taking a chance at alienating his customer base.
Lack of design innovation, regardless of who's fault it is, and a $1,000 price increase? I'll wait and pass on this title, no matter how much of a Trekkie I am.
Quoted from frolic:Gomez gave everyone something different with Avengers and no one bought it, so who can blame them.
Yea and it's a shame. Stern really needs try some more ambitious designs. Avengers incidentally failed, but it wasn't simply for having a somewhat unique (still a fan) layout.
Quoted from frolic:Gomez gave everyone something different with Avengers and no one bought it, so who can blame them.
Great design, horrible execution.
Floppy rattly launch ramp that won't shoot to the top, ball trap @ Loki Lock, ball traps @ Hulk, BW ramp a brick, bridge hang up on fist, ball under plastic falls into cab, drop target problems (same since WPT easy fix that wasn't applied) substandard weak parts on Hulk, thin wires to coil that fail, dead pops, crappy plastics that block the view of the shots, fist breaks plastic in back of Hulk.
They knew the problems with the game, floorplate should have been replaced with eddy sensor but no, slap an LE badge on it and send it out the door.
The reason it didn't sell is because you couldn't route the thing because it wouldn't play.
Who the hell would buy it after playing one game on it on route?
STLE same ugly ass translite style that nobody liked on STTNG with the same heads plastered down the sides.
Buy it sight unseen and hope it isn't like Avenger's for almost 9K?
Pass, Stern has jumped the shark.
Email Stern about a replacement part they know fails and they ask for a picture.
No other way to get the part because the vendors don't carry them yet.
Here is what you can get for Avenger's.
A ball, A coil, bulb that isn't used in the game and a backbox wrench.
Pathetic.
Quoted from frolic:Gomez gave everyone something different with Avengers and no one bought it, so who can blame them.
I like the design but I think part of the problem with Avengers is the Hulk ball issues and no original voice work. The lack of original voice audio from the films kinda ruins it for me as it doesnt make the pin feel as connected to the film as it should be.

Dunno who your dealer is, but mine has been aces for replacement parts. They got me a Hulk arm, the Avengers fix-it kit (BW plastic, and Hulk plastic that everyone had break on them) with whatever else was in there. I agree, the game had some serious issues and I wasn't happy with mine overall.
BUT... I have found Stern to be amazing with supplying parts after the fact.
Even for AC/DC: I broke a small plastic tightening it in place and my distributor got me a replacement piece no charge so I wouldn't have to order the whole plastic set.
You should either get your supplier to help get you the replacement piece you need, or find another supplier.
Hope this helps.

Leave Addams Family (TAF) out of this.

Lol! Just changed it Tom Addams Family is incredible!
Lyrics to If It Only Had A LCD :
To the tune of : If I only had a heart from WOZ
When we pinheads have been waiting
So long for information
About Sterns new Star Trek Pin
I have been hoping and a praying
That when we finally got to seeing
That it would have an LCD Display
I'm a Trekkie and a pinhead
And it's a must for my collection
Even at the higher price
The ships and rocks are a given
And the LED's should look really smitten
If It only had an LCD
Picture me ,trying to see movie video
on that old school red DMD
Wherefore art thou, LCD
O how I wish we could make it so
I am sure the game will have good flow
Because it's Steve Ritchie's show
I would say leave the game alone
And I'd lock it with a zipper
If It only had a LCD

You lost me at: "Song from WOZ".
and no disrespect intended to the WOZ pin owners.
Quoted from Chambahz:You lost me at: "Song from WOZ".

What, you don't get the comparison between the Tin man from WOZ not having a heart and the new Stern Star Trek pinball not having an LCD.
Sounds logical to me.
Maybe you don't know the song.
What the hell happened to this thread? It used to be about barely clothed hot chicks (nerdgasm). Sad what this has come to.
Quoted from vid1900:Who cares about a LCD?
I just want fun pinball.

WOZ has a LCD and it's still not as fun as TRON or 40 other games in my collection.
I do , That's who
Never seen a WOZ in person but I can tell it's my kind of game.
The only modern Stern game I have seen and played was the Transformers that was at the arcade when I took over as arcade tech and it was barely working then, missing one flipper rubber, broken solenoid wire on the ball lane kicker and had a bad opto on the ball though. I fixed what I could to get it up and running and made a list of parts I needed to get it back to 100% but It was scheduled to be moved to another location in a week so I never got to play it fully working. It was OK at best. Never seen the Tron pin, even videos of it, not a bad movie but never had any interest beyond the movie. I do love my Baby-Pac with it's CRT and I would love to have either or both Pin ball 2000's some day. Yea I guess I am just a video guy.
I do own a Stern Stars and my Star Trek LE is on order, DMD and all.

I would like an LCD too, I think it's a no-brainer. At least it could help to justify the new price points.
Everyone thought that Pinball 2000 was a no brainer when it came out.
ALL the players/distributors/OPs talked about was how it was the future.
But as cool as it looked back then, the games were not all that fun and other pinball companies did not follow in it's footsteps.
Almost 15 years latter, I don't hear people clamoring for Stern to produce a P2K style game...
If you have only 1000 hours to devote to programming a game, I'd rather ALL that time go to developing fun rules, than 1/4 go to rules and 3/4 go to a bunch of needless animations.

Song title from WoZ is "If I only had a Brain" sung by the Scarecrow.
Quoted from MrBally:Song title from WoZ is "If I only had a Brain" sung by the Scarecrow.
The fact that he got the title wrong is NOT the worst part of the post.
Quoted from Darth_Chris:I think if Trekkies ran out of LE available......this could go nuts. A Trekkie is by definition very emotional about the theme. Saw a guy posted he sold one for $12000 does not mean much but i'm sure a Trekkie gets more pissed than a Metallica fan when he does not get his fix.
A lot of the hardcore *Trekkers* are not as into the JJ movies. The Bally or DE games would likely be more sought after, from a (non-pinball) Trek fan's perspective.
