Quoted from Jediturtle:I have a few people that are thinking I am nuts for wanting to sell my STTNG for one. Here is my thinking on it. For me, this game seems to have nearly everything that I love about STTNG, but without the things I don't like about it, and with lots of new stuff to boot.
It's still Star Trek. Even though I like the TNG crew more, I do like the reboot crew quite a bit too. This ones is a wash.
I love a fast flowing layout. Another wash, though potentially the new one will be even faster being standard body.
I'm not a huge fan of cannons...they are a neat trick but I'm to the point of kind of groaning when that mode pops up on STTNG. Advantage Stern.
The lighting on STTNG is pretty bad, especially sitting next to my newer games. I know I could do some LED work on STTNG, but I'd never match the lighting on the Stern. Advantage Stern.
STTNG has great rules and is fairly deep, but I've had it so long that I've been there done that. The Stern will have lots of new stuff to do and could be significantly deeper. Probably advantage Stern.
New Stern doesn't have those ridiculously infuriating slings/outlanes. HUGE advantage Stern.
Don't get me wrong...there will be places that I'm not expecting the Stern to match up with STTNG. I know there won't be all the custom speech from the real actors. I know the build quality won't be as good. I'll miss the sweet ball launch. If it wasn't for the fact that I've had my STTNG for many years and have kind of gotten stale on it, I would probably just stick to that one. But in my case, it seems I would be getting a game that's familiar in many ways, but refreshed all around.
All good points.. However, is it 4K + better??? It is to similiar for me to say yes to that question without playing it.
