Which of these pf art renderings would entice you more to buy a Star Trek pin? First one (sterns) or second (aingides)

Is this a trick question?!
It's amazing to me how much better the photoshopped one is.
Too much red for a space themed pin.
Quoted from RobT:Is this a trick question?!
No convoluted or biased answers here...just a simple question; one, two, or neither
The color scheme on the aingide version is spot on and fits perfectly with the darker edge the new movies have.

It's a trick question because the answer is so obvious!

Hehe
But maybe the final pf artwork is not complete nor in production yet and stern is reading and possiblys changes it? They did when they read the met prem comments...granted changing that art was much easier than a pf. Just trying to grasp for some hope
Someone should combine the two pics into one graphic so we don't have to scroll up and down to compare.
Ya, I can open two windows, but I'm lazy!
I actually like the contrast of the red personally.
As long as there is crisp detail (no pixelated B.S.) for all of the layers; especially with that tiny text, it should look even better when it's all lit up. The fade to purple really looks good around the edges.
The second PF just looks like I'm staring up at a Portlandia sky in the wintertime.
Awesome color change in #2. It makes the pin look much more science fiction themed. Space is black or very dark. The darker colors would make the LED lights stand out more also.
im not getting all the hate on the playfield. at least its not full of photo shopped pics of the cast.
Way better the red one reminds me of old sega playfield explosion art. Lets hope for some color changes
Quoted from Kneissl:The game will probably be a riot, but the playfield art has crushed my dreams.
+1
#2 looks way better, especially for a space themed pin.
Quoted from NimblePin:I like the contrast of the red personally.
I haven't seen the movie, but does the red really match the theme in any way? And there's just so much of it.
Showed it to my wife, basically pinball and theme clueless, "the first one doesn't look like space at all".......maybe its the sun exploding, if so, why?
but does the red really match the theme in any way?
Maybe?

All I know is the current red PF (over the grey mock-up) will definitely be a bit brighter when playing in complete darkness, which a lot of us pinheads happen to play in. Plus, at least it's not another AvaSMX-MeIMTro blue PF coming down the pipe!
Quoted from Expletive:#2 looks way better, especially for a space themed pin.

The most prominent use of red in the new movies is the red matter in the first movie. A darker color scheme makes more sense for the theme IMO.
Quoted from The_Dude_Abides:2 is much better and theme appropriate IMO. 1 is into the darkness in rainbow land maybe.
Absolutely.
Quoted from RobT:Is that a still from Backdraft?
No, Spock just had Taco Bell earlier for lunch and now he's paying the consequences for his "illogic" choice to eat two smothered burritos and a fiery taco in one sitting...
Number two looks better, but number one doesn't look bad. No photoshopped actors on PF is win either way.
Sterns pf looks to much like a rainbow, but the.second one looks to dark. How about some blue, fading to purple, and maybe a little red for a sun or something. The worse part in my opinion on Sterns pf is the rainbow colors and graphics used right in front of the flippers, the most watched part of the pf. I wonder if they were eating skittles when the chose the color scheme.
Quoted from Hammerhead1550:.. I wonder if they were eating skittles when the chose the color scheme.
some left over from metallica
Quoted from NimblePin:The second PF just looks like I'm staring up at a Portlandia sky in the wintertime.
It's too much grey for a game that uses greyish colored balls. Might look fine on your wall, but it's going to be hard to track a ball moving fast across the playfield. Heaven forbid you start a multiball. All powerballs might help, but they get grey too when they get dirty.
Even though they show more dirt and need to cleaned more often, I prefer a brighter playfield. Easier to see the balls.
I think st stern is a great opertunity wasted
Why nit design something new rather using bits of an old layout
Pro artwork is best of them all
But we need pro vs le Playfield yet
I'd personally wish they had the pro artwork for the premium
Quoted from swampfire:Here's how I wish it had turned out:
Damn that's awesome.
Now that would be cool if the LE were purple trimmed with that PF
Quoted from swampfire:Here's how I wish it had turned out:
Still looks like the same game.
I think the black version looks too much like STTNG in that form. That might be why they brightened it up.
The tweaked playfields look so much better. Aside from MET, the art and color choices by Stern are very questionable. Who is the head of the Art Department at Stern? Is there still such person? The choice of red trim alone shows you how poorly thought out the art is. The LE versions will sell out no matter what usually, but the Premium should have a cool look just because it's not limited. They can sell a bunch of Premiums if the color scheme is good enough. Someone over there really digs bright red. The game may be very good, but I would never want that red trim in with my other games. It's tacky.

Add black chrome or dark purple side rails, hinges, legs and lockdown bar .
Quoted from Trekie:Add black chrome or dark purple side rails, hinges, legs and lockdown bar .
Now black chrome would have been awesome! Why they think light blue, and red match a space theme pin is beyond me. Trim colors should be black chrome/chrome, or dark blue/purple. I agree with the above poster Sterns art department is terrible. Pastel/rainbow colors, ugly trim, and to me awful translights expect maybe the pro, and an increase in price to boot. This was going to be my first nib game, but unless they drastically change it before release, I am going to pass.
