The color changing LEDs in the apron are also a nice touch.

Quoted from reltham:

Individually addressable LED strips are more than $2.
You can clearly see the LEDs turn on and off in sequence on the side panels.

Not to mention the laser cut holes in the side rails. This is definitely cool new stuff that costs money and not some Dollar General bling glued to the side of the machine.

I don't play the cabinet, do you?

I don't play the display either... Even without the cabinet, STLE has the best light show ever from the player's vantage point.

Quoted from jackal2001:

Ah remember the days of when everyone was complaining how LEDs were so blinding in pins. Ahh the times have changed.

Nope I still hate LEDs installed in pins not designed for them. They flicker, strobe and ghost. The new Sterns and JJP machines were designed from the ground up for LEDs so they look great and have none of the side effects. I love the LEDs in my ACDC. I removed every single LED from a recently acquired IJ because they made the game unplayable. No changes here...

Or you can just patch the roms and re-burn them with the no ghost fix.

And fix what is by far the least bothersome of the three side effects. Still have flicker and strobe.

Quoted from Fytr:

Really, you should consider using the LED OCD board (http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/led-ocd-advanced-lamp-controller-shipping-with-wait-list) when retrofitting an older game with LEDs.

I am a huge fan of that board. I was a beta tester too by the way. It makes controlled LEDs in older machines with a lamp matrix look awesome! Even the cheap 39 cent LEDs look great. They don't flicker or ghost and they turn on and off slowly just like a real bulb, so they don't ruin the light shows that were designed for timing of real bulbs.
