No starfield projector demo yet?

#52 6 years ago

Wow! That has to be the best-looking Stern ever made.

You could go over to terrys and see this..http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/st-pro-with-several-new-mods-phasers-and-more-going-to-pbl-tomorrow

Which has absolutely nothing to do with what he mentioned. =|

Damn you Stern, TAKE MY MONEY!!!

Cmon Frax you can get it. Hemis lighting..

still can't make a decision based on pics and video. You actually have to play the game to know if it's any good or not. Some of you act like women looking at sparkly jewelry. oooooooooo Shiny, bright and sparkly.......... (purchase). Bright lights and flashy things do not make a great pinball. Plenty of games out there, look fantastic but are horrible. Black Rose being one of them.

It does look nice on the outside. Playfield layout is still the same tho. I do like how they include the light up speaker grills as part of the game now. Illuminated cabinet art is nice as well. Not $1500 extra nice, but nice.

Poor guy is having a bad day, and decided to take it out on pinside.

Some of us don't even need to see the jewelry, we just buy away! Lol

Because you totally know me personally, right?

I would sell my POTC and Getaway and sell my soul for one of these LE's right now. And I've played a pro enough to know that I like it.

The point still is that no matter how much Hemi may be able to do to a Pro, it's not the same thing. Just like a Tron Pro with Eli's mod is not a Tron LE. Time will tell on both of these games, but I got a feeling that my opinion will win out over the long term on that one..

#62 6 years ago

Doesn't look like the Vengeance is on a spring at all. The motor must handle all its movements on the Premium/LE.

#63 6 years ago

The only thing that I can say for certain at this point is that SR has a wicked hairdo!

#65 6 years ago

It sure is purdy!

I agree his hair is nice.

Can someone ask if the red light strips on the inside of the cab will be on the Premium model as well? LE looks great! Thanks for all the videos and pictures!!

#68 6 years ago

^ My guess would be no. If you watch the video, it looks like the same light strip illuminates both the inside of the cab as well as the "phaser" cutouts in the side rails. No laser cut-outs in the side rails on the Premium smells like no red light strips to me...

Later,
EV

It looks awesome! I'm so glad I went ahead and ordered an LE.

I am starting to think that way, but I want to know more.

#71 6 years ago

I'm still not seeing it for the LE....Expected more or unique stuff on the playfield. Will wait to play one.

#72 6 years ago

Best pinporn i've seen for a while...

#73 6 years ago

Said elsewhere....NO VUK. Laser comes from the apron. (disabled at tour)

Your probably right would be a little disappointing since I am likely going Premium on this one or nothing. Wait and see I guess. Just kind of wish the features would be adequately explained so we would know what we are getting with each model at this point.

Neo hits it on the head here. What a bunch of women!

Don't know what the point of that light up headbox is. You won't be able to see it when it is between other games.

Unless Stern wants everyone to only have one pin ....

I like the way they are going with the LE pimp the exterior out and limit a run. For Premium models include all the same stuff under the glass and I would be a happy camper.

Hopefully the Premium includes the new "Shield" lights in the apron. It's under the glass.....fingers crossed.

Well seems like they added that to kind of make up for not having the warp loop VUK as advertised. If they did not include the shield light apron on the Premium I wouldn't buy it on principle. I think they will.

Guilty, I suppose. I want it on basis of the light show alone. Amazing! By the way, I also arrange my machines so that cabinet artwork is fully visible, as that is an important aspect of the appeal for me.

LOL, ya that is going to go a long way for the guys that have to jam it in between pins. "if you jam your head in between my pins you can see some cool led stuff going on the cabinet sides". LOL

Stern really figured out they can charge an arm and a leg for some $2 LED strips to make everyone go WOW.

#82 6 years ago

Individually addressable LED strips are more than $2.
You can clearly see the LEDs turn on and off in sequence on the side panels.

Its funny watching formerly excited pin collectors become old and grumpy in this hobby...

Not to mention the laser cut holes in the side rails. This is definitely cool new stuff that costs money and not some Dollar General bling glued to the side of the machine.

I don't play the cabinet, do you?

I don't play the display either... Even without the cabinet, STLE has the best light show ever from the player's vantage point.

Ah remember the days of when everyone was complaining how LEDs were so blinding in pins. Ahh the times have changed.

I've Never played STLE but I will say I got Fireball Frenzy on WOZ last night and the light show was incredible!

Nope I still hate LEDs installed in pins not designed for them. They flicker, strobe and ghost. The new Sterns and JJP machines were designed from the ground up for LEDs so they look great and have none of the side effects. I love the LEDs in my ACDC. I removed every single LED from a recently acquired IJ because they made the game unplayable. No changes here...

Agreed my Tron inserts look super crisp with LED's (thanks pinballbulbs)

Not an issue with the right LED's. I saw an T2 will all LED's....no flicker, strobe, or ghost.

Or you can just patch the roms and re-burn them with the no ghost fix.

The VUK no longer kicks to the warp ramp.

Just like I and SKB said two weeks ago.

Those LED strip lights would look great in a "Knight Rider" pin

#95 6 years ago

I bet some more orders were placed for STLE today.

Just like LEDs themselves have.

Really, you should consider using the LED OCD board (http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/led-ocd-advanced-lamp-controller-shipping-with-wait-list) when retrofitting an older game with LEDs.

I guess I'm the target audience for this a I really notice the "instant on/off" aspect of LEDs and feel on many older games that something is lost in the light-show animation when the fade-in/out of incandescent bulbs is removed via LEDs. Plus you can tweak the brightness of each LED which gives you full control to avoid overly bright inserts that can sometimes arise from using LEDs on games not originally meant for them.

Nothing worse than a classic game mutilated by bad LED choices and implementation IMHO.

And fix what is by far the least bothersome of the three side effects. Still have flicker and strobe.

I am a huge fan of that board. I was a beta tester too by the way. It makes controlled LEDs in older machines with a lamp matrix look awesome! Even the cheap 39 cent LEDs look great. They don't flicker or ghost and they turn on and off slowly just like a real bulb, so they don't ruin the light shows that were designed for timing of real bulbs.
