Awesome! I agree, if the new update doesn't do something similar, I'll be in for one of these.

It does really make the DMD reflect on the glass though.....I'll have to get one of the plastic shields....hopefully they work on the new Stern "titled up" DMDs.

Quoted from Pinzzz:

Bent plastic does work on the tilted dmd.I have one on my STLE.Pinball life has best price $7.95

Quoted from rai:

Mod just arrived today.
I don't really understand those instructions. Could you be more specific? Where does the board go? Do we use any existing wires or just the cable supplied?
I need a few more instructions since I don't even know where this is supposed to be mounted? Any pics or instructions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Crack open your manual. CN-15 that he references is the board number. Your manual will show you which one it is.

Got mine today, but it doesn't work! Triple checked all the connectors and re-seated them. GI lights are on and the Laser Motor is working, but the GI lights don't go off when the laser is on. Tried it with the switch in both positions as well.

Do I have a bad board?

#236 8 years ago

Got it working. The 2 pin was the problem. Pushed the wires back in with a thin screwdriver, and it works!

I haven't even tried 66% yet. I love the dark, and it hasn't become impossible to play. I have a little neon clock in my basement, and it gives just enough light that even with all the other lights off, the game is playable.

Has anyone here upgraded the laser along with this mod? Would love to see a video of that!

#260 8 years ago
Quoted from frolic:

I did not upgrade my laser, but I did put some black tape on the very bottom of the inside of the laser hole to block the flipper from catching the laser. So now the dots only appear on the playfield.

I tried that too....seemed like a no-brainer...but something looked off.

I would try it again after upgrading the laser.

Tried the 66% finally and actually like it!

Does the upgraded laser produce more dots? Or are they just brighter?

I assume the prism stays the same, so just curious if it actually makes more dots.

Quoted from MT45:

Anyone install the Cointaker RED laser upgrade? With the blackout mod? Would love to see a short video of the red laser upgrade ...

Agreed. That's what I want to see.
