At the moment all kits are sold out, but we will do a small re-run now

What is the ST blackout mod.

If the Klingon multi ball starts and the laser will start

the GI lamps will be switched off TOTAL or the MOST (selectable with a switch)

its a great effect.

not the best Video

The Price is 69$ / 59,- euro + 35$ / 30,- euro shipping to US or 19,- euro shipping inside europe
you can order up to 3 kits for the same shipping costs

Cool. Can you tell us more?

I still really do not like the projected stars but this makes it at least look intended.

I think the blackout looks pretty good.

If making more GLWS.

I love the laser. I know people got overly hyped about it and were disappointed when they finally saw it, probably all Stern's fault really, but when it comes on I get excited. I'd be more excited if the GI did this though, Stern should really code it in.

#5 9 years ago

Now that is an awesome idea. This looks great!

#6 9 years ago

The Lazer on STLE is one of the coolest features on the game . Great Mod .

#7 9 years ago

Bad ass. I'm really hoping Lonnie pulls through with better lighting effects with the lasers next update.

This would be a simple thing to code and really nice to have, but will Stern do it?

Just turning off the top row of the backboard lights makes a HUGE difference in the laser visibility. There are times in starfield multi-ball when the backboard lights flash off and on (I think when you hit the ship), and the laser looks really-really cool when they're off.. even if it is just momentarily.

i will layout a small pcb
hope to get it in about one week

just a cable to connect to the pin
no soldering

#10 9 years ago

As mentioned above, this may very well be solved by their programmers, I would not sell any until we see the big software update.

#11 9 years ago

in the meantime i have a solution

it could be a loooong time before we see a update !

Well.... yes .

#13 9 years ago

here is a better Video

#14 9 years ago

66% DARK with Lane ON looks fantastic. Very nice work.

#15 9 years ago

there are 3 strings of GI

i will place a Switch at the pcb to select total off or 66% off

hope to get the pcb proto soon

Can the laser be adjusted slightly up in angle so the majority of the light is not hitting the backside of the left flipper?

If so, then I would think it would look better and work better with complete dark?

Place a small piece of black tape at the bottom of the hole where the laser comes out and adjust to get rid of flipper beams.

#18 9 years ago

I think I prefer 66% dark, so there's still GI near the flippers. Both options make the starfield look great, though.

Not that long....

Mod looks awesome though...if the update doesn't do something like this for Klingon Multiball, I'd be interested in this mod.

#20 9 years ago

That's really cool. Well done.

#21 9 years ago

Awesome mod looking forward to getting one of these

#22 9 years ago

I'm interested...

Want to buy. =)

#25 9 years ago

Awesome! I agree, if the new update doesn't do something similar, I'll be in for one of these.

It does really make the DMD reflect on the glass though.....I'll have to get one of the plastic shields....hopefully they work on the new Stern "titled up" DMDs.

Who knows ... we might be able to get a better laser projector down the road ... it'll be a piece of cake to replace the one in there . I know that doesn't help now, but it's good to know the option is there .
