Is there any difference?
I like it either way.

I like it either way.
Quoted from Mathazar:Welcome to the club! AFAIK, there is no difference between the original run and the Vault run. If you have a Vault Edition, there will be a "V" in the model number on the back of the backbox label.
Thanks!
Looks like mine is an original build then, no "V".
Quoted from luckycreature:So the Bally Star Trek I got last week still has this old battery in it. I know rule of thumb is to get it out of the machine but not sure when I can get around to getting a new one to put in it. Question is will the machine function if I remove it and if so proper way to do it?
Thanks for your help.

Good info on remote battery install here.

Quoted from sebgrinke:You were correct the buzzing is intermittent. There are of course two right flippers so I guess it could be either one.
Can the coil stops be tightened without removing the flipper assembly? From the link you sent it looks like I need to tighten something on the coil itself with an allen wrench (allen key?)? It's hard to see in the image.
Take a look at Page B12 in the manual. There's a good diagram of the assembly. It's the screws holding part No. 6 that may be loose. That part wears quickly and may need to be replaced. Vid's example used an allen key screw, ST looks to use a regular 3/8" machine screw, if the original hardware is still in place.
Quoted from Aurich:He said package.
Speaking of ... I've been getting people asking me about it lately. If I had maybe 4 more I could probably do a little run of them for folks. PM me if you have any interest.
In!
Quoted from Aurich:I've already heard from two people that got theirs
Recieved mine today, and it looks great!
Just the translite and speaker panel decal would be worth it. All the decals and apron cards are sweet, sweet extras.
I didn't realize how much I would like the coin reject inserts until I swaw them lit up.
Thanks Aurich!
Quoted from FugTM:Pros? Cons? Who has a cointaker version? Who decided not to get one and why?
I have the Stern version and agree that a shaker is a great addition.
I went Stern since it was only a few $ more.
Haven't heard anything bad about the Red Tremor ones, except a few comments that they are very strong out of the box and may need to be adjusted to keep from shaking your house down.
Quoted from Ecw0930:What are the plastics that cover up the lights in the upper pop lanes called?
Stock is blue, and I want clear. But I don't even know what to look up.
Thanks!
Lane guides?
Make sure you get the right length, since there are multiple sizes.

Quoted from Ecw0930:So when you install a shaker you just go into the menu and turn that option on? Nothing else to program?
Correct. Set that adjustment to how much you want. I like "LOTS". Easy peasy.
Quoted from Zitt:...afm saucers... on star trek?!
Totally confused.
It does kinda look like that!
Quoted from mbrave77:Was that aurich who made it?
Yes. Check with him, he may have extras from the last run not long ago.
Quoted from Kjarkur:What number is x?
"x" is adjustable, depending on how the game difficulty is set.
My 80+ year old parents just visited me for several days.
My Dad doesn't play pinball, but my Mom does.
Star Trek is Mom's new favorite game.
Quoted from jonnyqtrek:Hi, all! Question on the Stern Star Trek (Pro). So, when I got my pin, the left orbit gate was dead... I replaced the whole assembly (gate + coil) last September, and it worked fine for me until now, so I'm guessing it's the coil on the assembly.
1) Are you folks finding that this gate coil dies this often, or is this unusual?
I'd like to replace the coil, and Marco has it at $30/pop with the connector (lower half of screenshot), but they also have the coil itself without a diode (upper half of screenshot) for $10 less...
[quoted image]
2) Is the difference as simple as an 1N4004 diode to be placed inline somewhere? I don't suppose it as simple as transferring the connector leads to this coil?
3) Or would you recommend biting the bullet and grabbing the coil w/ connector and saving on a headache?
Coils really don't just go bad. You should figure out what is causing the problem.
Quoted from jonnyqtrek:Hmm... I hate to ask, but any ideas what could cause something like this?
Yeah sorry, that was kinda vague.
Did you test the coil you previously removed to see if it was actually damaged?
Does it look burnt or crispy?
What does it read for resistance?
Quoted from Ashram56:Anyway, checked the fuse : all are correct
Do you mean that you pulled the fuses out and checked them for continuity with a meter?
Fuses can appear fine and be blown.
Quoted from JakePG:Is the Aurich package still available?
He might have some on hand.
Best way to find out is to ask him.
Send him a PM.

It is a really cool upgrade.
Quoted from drummermike:What is the procedure for updating code in a ST pro? I have the 1.62 code on a thumb drive. I put it in the pin and there are no prompts like when I have done LZ updates. Thanks.

Quoted from Fifty:Does anyone have a clear image of page B37 of the Pro manual? My old eyes can't read the fuzzy text even when zoomed in
I printed the manual from the Stern website when I got the game. Never noticed that those couple pages are printed so tiny as to be basically unreadable. The PDF doesn't seem to be high enough resolution to be readable when zoomed in.
Hopefully the original factory printed manuals are printed larger or more clearly.
I laughed when I saw what you were talking about. It's ridiculous when printed on stanadrd size paper.
The other thing about total plays is that plays vary quite a bit.
If they were all me playing, the total time spent would likely be about the same as one good game by a great player.
Also, plays be me would not include any slamming, banging, lifting, shoving, or other abuse. Some other people..........
Anyway, maybe ask the seller to send you some pictures. They are a better gauge of condition.
For what it's worth, my ST came from a barcade that got it from another barcade. It was crazy dirty, but cleaned up really nice.
You wouldn't suspect that it lived the life it has. Durable game.
Quoted from Red_Devils:There's no doubt it's a cool looking translite but it should be in a lit frame on your wall. Totally the wrong ships for the game.
What ships are they then?
Quoted from MrMikeman:I guess it's like putting a Pinto on the backglass of a Stern Mustang pinball machine and then saying it makes sense because "What? It's a car. It’s named after a horse. It was made by the Ford Motor Corp and is also from the 20th century time period of humanity." Someone who knows nothing of cars wouldn't care. It doesn't affect game play. Most car fans would be offended by the blatant incorrectness of car models/generation lol.
I would say it's more like: "That's all wrong. 2003 Mustangs did not have the pony emblem on the front fenders. I'm offended that someone put that incorrect trim part on that car". Where most folks just see an early 2000's Mustang.
Quoted from StoneyCreek:or both?
Aurich's stuff was a package with the translite, speaker panel, score cards, and a few other things.
It's cool and I really like it, but yeah, not worth any legal trouble for him.
Quoted from dougPDX:Anyone willing to share their experience and/or recommendation for an audio upgrade? Just picked up an LE and want to really immerse in the audio as well. I’ve used Pinwoofer in some of my other games, and always been very happy. However, have not upgraded a SAM game and therefore not familiar with the best options. Thanks in advance!
Quick, easy, and relatively cheap to hook up an external subwoofer, like a Polk PSW10.
