Quoted from chinosts:Hey I'm noticing a little problem developing with my STTNG at the start of each ball. The 'kicker' that spits the ball out so that it can be first launched into play has several attempts before successfully doing so.
What happens most of the time is that it just bounces back into the hopper to which it instantly attempts again to kick the ball out. After 3 or 4 attempts the ball drops down into the launcher and gets successfully put into play. Has anyone else had the same problem? It seems to be that it is popping the ball out with too much force which causes it to bounce back rather than just drop in...
Anyone else having this same problem? What did you do to fix it? I was thinking maybe putting something on the outer wall to absorb some of the ball energy but not sure what to use..
This has Happened to me before on my other machines, but only once or twice and never again. IF this is happening every time, that's another story. You mention it makes it out but bounces back into the hole? Is it hitting the wood or is it hitting the wireform. I don't know if TNG lets you change the power of solenoids. I think that's only newer machines. Her is my guess.
1. The shooter is loose and it is hitting the ball at a weird angle which makes the ball hit odd and bounce back.
2. Its hitting the edge of the wireform making it bounce back
3. The solenoid is on roids, and needs to be turned down. Which may not be an option, I have not looked in the settings for this on TNG. It is a setting for newer machines.
Can you take a video of this in action, it will help us. But adding a hillbilly fix-it isn't a bad temporary fix. "Absorbing the impact".
Quoted from chinosts:The other problem it has and this has been there pretty much since it was delivered is that the back drop target blocking the ball lock doesn't always go completely down and gets stuck halfway. It makes a very audible clicking noise when it tries to drop it.. Not sure what is wrong there either...
I have had this problem, but only sometimes when I select Launch Probe. It hasn't happened enough for me to get down and dirty. Do you have a small video camera? Duct tape the camera inside the machine pointing at the solenoid/kicker and see whats happening during gameplay. Lol, may be the first attempt to ever do something like that. hahahaha. but, in all seriousness, make sure that the drop target when down isn't hung up on anything. It could be out of line and stuck on the edge which is preventing it from popping up every time.
I am no expert, just trying to help with ideas.
