Quoted from Zitt:

Again, it's the transistor

Follow this man's advice. He knows the workings of the machine very well.

#8203 8 months ago
Quoted from KellerDj:

It does not both motor and laser do not activate, thats why i am thinking something up stream but not sure where

Listen to zitt he’s designed some killer replacement/add on parts for ST he knows this game inside out. If he says it’s the transistor check that first!

#8204 8 months ago

The laser motor and laser diode both run off of the same transistor (Q22) on the CPU board.
I know this; because I designed the
GI_Dimmerand the
Laser Diode upgrades… so know they both come off of this transistor. Proof is on page Y42.

So one of few things is the problem.
1) Blown transistor (Q22).
2) Bad connections from transistor to the diode and motor. (read wiring harness)
3) a Shorted Zener diode (crappy Stern way of regulating voltage to the laser diode) which has probably blown the transistor as well. See page Y42.

Also, don't forget to check the dilithium crystals!
Too many shots to the warp ramp can drain them prematurely.

OK will check transistor thanks for your help

#8207 8 months ago

Checked transistor and it tested fine even tested associated resistors and they also tested correctly, i am just not getting any power to the laser module, any other things i can test look at?

thanks again for your help.

Check low voltage coil rail. 20vdc. Trace the "hot" wire back

I finished my Speaker Panel install. I can't decider whether I like the red or blue speaker lights better. I'm also attaching a better picture of Zit's Pop Bumper caps. They certainly make a lot of great mods for Star Trek.

Panel is beautiful I'd go blue for color flow/continuity but that's me.

I do have my Premium Vault listed if anyone knows of a good home for it. I love the game but looking to change it up, and this one is too nice to loan out or lend to a pub.

I would buy it if I didn't already have a pro.

Nope. I modded the shit out of mine and it's beautiful now.

Serious question as an LE owner how does your blackout mod differ from zitt blackout/dimmer mod? I’m asking so I can decide which to install.

#8222 7 months ago

sorry a don't know a dimmer mod?

do you have a link?

#8223 7 months ago
Quoted from J85M:

They are radically different - not even in the same category. My more closely resembled a GI OCD than a "blackout" mod.
Kapsreiter's is relay based which only allows one on/off of three of the four GI strings. I think he has an option to do all strings or all but one but that's it. He can be specific what his product does. Feel free to chime in if I'm incorrect.

My modallows for any dimmer value between 0% and 100% on the four standard GI strings. You have two settings... one for normal mode; one for Klingon mulitball. The microcontroller on my device allows you to change either setting to any value you choose. This means not only can you dim the GI strings during multiball; but also dim them for normal mode. Each channel has a KMB setting and a "normal" setting which is activated with the laser assembly.

Additionally; my mod provides for 9 additional "auxiliary" channels for controlling other lighting mods.

thats a lot of hardware, when you need all of this
for just switch of the gi when the laser is active its oversized.
but respect for the work.

both mods will do the job

i only have now a view kits and this was the last run
ST time is over since several years and not reliable to produce it.

90$ shipped.

And on a lighter note -

Our Star Trek holds a slim 4 vote lead against DI, with around a day left:

Let's create some separation!!!!

How do you get the Special to light up on the Premium?

#8234 7 months ago
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:

How do you get the Special to light up on the Premium?

This is one of the great mysteries of life

I think the only way is through the mystery award. I've owned the game for 7 years and still play it regularly. I'd say I've gotten special at most 5 times. The EB from the mystery is almost as elusive. Only gotten that a handful of times as well.

my new topper

#8237 7 months ago

That is Badass!
I bought a large RGB plasma plate on eBay years ago for around 60.00 USD. I still have it. I installed it in a juke box I built. But where did you get this one with the SF mask?

#8238 7 months ago

Definitely a cool topper I would live to have that.

On my ST Prem Vault is there a way to turn down auto launch power? went through menus and manual and did t find anything. Did I miss it?

#8239 7 months ago

Is it possible you don't have a steep enough angle on the game?

Ya try that. I replaced my balls at around 300 plays but they weren't magnetized or anything.

The speaker kits allow you to change color with a remote. I go back and forth between red and blue. When I posted pictures on Facebook the vote was 30 to 1 blue.
