I recieved a beat to hell Star pool in an arcade game trade a few years ago.
And had always planned to retheme it. Well I finally got around to starting it.

Here is some if what has gone on so far. Moved the bottom left sling to the upper right side. Replaced left sling with a pop bumper.added a Newton and captive ball on top right to open the gate. Added a vuk kickout hole to top left. 3d printed a new UV reactive spinner. 3d printed UV star posts. Added a spinner to left upper orbit shot. 3d printed a few new inserts.

I plan to start to airbrush the playfield with UV glow paint hopefully sometime this week. As everything is now up and working. And placed when I want it.

Then it's work on the backglass and cabinet as the playfield clearcoat is curing. And also put in the mp3 music trigger.

I think it going to turn out pretty sweet.

Love it!

Quoted from erak:

Replaced left sling with a pop bumper.

Are you worried about the pop for a sling being an issue draining balls? R&M has a ball save feature just for this issue. Have you play tested it much?

Make that center spinner a continuously running Fireball-type. I like what you have done.

Yeah I've tested it. Star pool is too easy, and much slower of a game. Since it's an EM I wanted to make it much harder to collect all the balls(now clues) I high tapped it too. And might try a powerball. Which will also show up better under the UV light.
You need to do it all in one ball or you fail unmasking captain Cutler.

Pool balls needed for final wiz mode lights and sounds 2,4,6,8,10,12,15
10 spins of center spinner normally spot a ball.
So now 20,40,60,80,100,120,150 spins with light the center inserts
Spelling C.U.T.L.E.R. and 150 or 15 ball will be the unmasked insert and spinner color change. As I have moved all the wiring around.

There is a rollover on the skill shot, coming out of the upper orbit if you're lucky that instantly spot balls. Also 2 advance spinner targets that awards 5 spins.
All the drops knocked down double bonus and spins. But they instantly come up after you knock them all down. The 2 upper drops block needed shots. The Gate collects bonus and lets you shoot for top vuk skill shot. And a chance at the instant spot ball target

Pool ball 2,4,5,7,8,10,13,14 are going to UV light up different areas of the playfield. Kind of like power down mode on JM in reverse. As you light up Cutler on the playfield you get more clues(balls collected)

All 15 balls collected is going to play chase music and center spinner turns red.

I don't think Im going to add much speech. Just background music and chase music. And definately keep the chimes. It fits the era and the theme.

I'm on the fence if I'm going to model 3d plastics. Like sunken ships and caves. Or just standard flat plastics.

Daphne and Velma are going on the head sides. And the cabinet is going to be painted or decals like the mystery machine.

So it's still a ways to go. But airbrushing the playfield is probably going to take the longest.

I thought about it too. But it works well as a bash toy. And does mess with the ball direction really good as is.

what's your plan for adding music? arduino firing off switches?

Just an mp3 trigger or 2 if I'm going to possibly add other sounds.

I used a Halloween prop trigger for my evil dead retheme I did years ago. So there is that option as well.
I could add a fog machine and other stuff too with those.

Getting there. Still have to do a bit more with highlights and lowlights. Friskit is still all over the place. 8 still have to paint some other places. Adding a lighthouse and rocks. Then waterslide decals for the inserts. Then I can finally clearcoat.

But I think it's looking good so far.

I was able to get a majority of the art done over the last week.
Next up a quick thin clearcoat, then insert decals and finish the final playfield text.

I promised the backglass to a guy in our pinball league that has a star pool as well. The clear is finally dry enough to start populating the playfield. I should have it up and running in a couple days. I hope to have it finished 100% by Halloween.
Its been a slow process with working on the house, getting a couple of new games. And my wife buying us a trailer. Not feeling super great some days too with MS. So I haven't worked on it as much as I've wanted to. But it's definitely finally getting there. The hardest part is done.
