Since we recently had a discussion on this, what's the price speculation for a 1963 Bally Star-Jet? No plans to sell (ever), just seems like many many people want one (high demand, very little left) and I'm curious. Not looking to brag, just really curious about what it would be worth. Helps for a little push in all of this soldering...

Fun rare multiball game with very very desirable artwork, very hard to find. Only under 30 documented online anywhere: http://wedgehead.net/pages/starjet.html My list needs to be updated to include 2 more machines I believe as of right now, also has a numbering typo.

In a pretty small wishlist thread it is listed 5 times. (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/em-wishlist-list-your-game-projectsshopped-and-wkng-etc-and-location-here) Listed in the EM pinball machine wishlist thread too.

Also linked to the "best backglass of all time" thread, "best playfield art of all time", and "best multiplayer EM" thread by others, although obviously that's highly opinionated and I'm just boosting it up at this point.

What would a good price be for a restored one, vs. a non-restored rough one?

Here is some Star-Jet eye candy courtesy of Pinsider aahgo. Hope you don't mind me posting the pictures here.

Quoted from AlexF:

But alas I believe it is from the single player Bull Fight.

Ahh, bummer. I'm starting to look into my options of using a newer game cabinet. A big problem would be the lockdown assembly which wasn't removed from the cabinet, I don't think. It's a weird one since you drop the coins into the lockdown bar. At this point I think I'd probably just be happy finding anything and modifying it to work, even if I have to unscrew some nuts to take the bar off or something weird.

Luckily a lot more later Bally games out there where they used the same head (I believe), just the cabinet will be trouble. It's pretty sad, doesn't look like many of the Bally games from that era (1960-1965/early 1966) survived.

If you look at most of these on Pinside (minus the last 5, which were the next generation Bally games with different coin doors and production amounts) they're on the Gene Cunningham mega-sale thread and nowhere else. I found one a while back that didn't have any threads. I am thankful Star-Jet had a cool enough theme to survive with the low production numbers but I feel sad about the other games. It's crazy, it's like a big black hole in pinball history that not only is there because they aren't around but because many people also don't care about those machines. Kind of gloomy. Discovered all of those after I bought my Star-Jet project. There's a bunch of Williams and Gottlieb titles around from that period.

Mad World (they made 1,000 more than Star-Jet) looks like a cool one, I love the lower playfield art. Screams 60's. (Kinda creepy, kinda cool, lol) Especially with the old medicine (also creepy) and whatever the hell else is going on with this artwork. Love the "fuse box" in the middle of nowhere. But again, very few left it seems.

The head is different. The next generation games from Star-Jet (like Safari, etc.) seem like it would be a match, though. You can tell by looking at how thin the bottom board on the head is on that Sea Ray. No room for the art.
