With a collection of Stern /Bally/Williams/ and TNA (spooky) from 80's-to 2018, which flipper rubber do you prefer, and would you put that style on all machines?
Me personally, I have always liked the white ring, yellow/black sleeves, and red flipper. They are more lively. On the other hand they break down quicker.
Flipper rubber varies by game. Some games play better wit the newer types, other games feel best with rubber. So I pick them for the game.
I like the clear rubber too because of light transmission it certainly speeds up games but I don’t like it on older games..Outside of that, just plain old white rubber.. as far as flippers go anything but superbands! They look nice but like shit because they aren’t bouncy enough
I like to color match my games. White rubber is chalky and nasty. Lets be honest here, 90% of people can't tell the difference between the play of different bands. Only super anal and real players can really see a difference. Its kind of like those playfield petg protectors. Most can't tell the difference with one on, but there are those few people that swear they play differently.
I swapped all Pins to Titan rubbers.
They live long and are easy to clean.
For me they are way better than superbands and -rings.
Titan flipper rubber here. The rest of the rings it depends on the game. I like regular white on system 11 and older games. And titan rings on dmd and newer games.
Nope.
Unless it's Stern, it's Red rubber.
I would probably replace newer Sterns black with red when the time comes.
Classic Stern yellow
I don't think there is a way to standardize flipper rubbers and get all the games to play the way they were meant to. Plus you have some games that used 2 inch flippers even in the 80s that use a round rubber that is usually white.
Each color flipper rubber has different bounce properties which in part has to do with which is selected for each game.
If you go with an artificial rubber, then you throw everything off.
For me, play ability is more important than having matching colors throughout the room.
But if you are one of those that would rather look at them than play them, it makes no difference what you use.
