Currently the Professional and Amateur Pinball Association (PAPA) uses a variety of machines in it's tournaments, do you think there should be a 'standard' competition machine? A machine specifically for competition could breath new life into pinball, elevating it's status to that of a sport like darts or pool.

If there was a standard competition machine what features would you want it to have? What rules?

Variety is the spice of pinball.

I would get bored to death and stop competing if all tourneys just used one game.
There are known 'good' and 'bad' tourney games.
    Just use all good ones.

    No and no,

but I do think that certain pins should never be used and others used more frequently.......which is what I think happens.

LOTR on standard settings would be a VERY BAD competition pin. Don't need a match lasting several hours. Or a pin like JM where you can do crazy scoring on one shot (the spinner).

    Ritchie's seem to work well.

Let players know games in advance so they can train on those specific machines.

Pinburgh is coming soon and we'll let players know all 200 games in advance. Good luck with the training, though

That is like saying all golf competitions should be on the same course, or car races on the same track. The variety is part of the sport.
