    Hey everyone,
I'm getting into the hobby/in the middle of a partial restoration of a DE Jurassic Park, and I've been purchasing some parts for the job. I bought a bunch of balls for the machine, and I noticed that the size of the standard pinball is 1-1/16". Maybe it's a silly question, but I was wondering... What's the reason for that? Why not 1" or 1-1/8"? Furthermore, who (or what manufacturer) decided to standardize the 1-1/16" ball size?

Atari made a machine that used a cue ball. http://www.ipdb.org/machine.cgi?id=1155

Now that is something you don't see every day. Really cool, thanks for sharing. Have you ever played Hercules?

    Had one in my arcade.

Smaller ones are too fast and harder to see IMO. Bigger ones probably cost more and I would think would be slower (never played with one). But I will take a guess that WAAYYY back when, the 1-1/16" were cheapest and they then became the standard.

Oh, and Herc is slow and boring.
