if you know someone with a hydraulic press, it *might* be ok if there aren't visible stress fractures already. worth trying if you have the option.

#23 7 years ago

Hope mine was packed with some reinforcement . Should be here any day I hope

#24 7 years ago

You could sandwich it in between 2 pieces of thicker cardboard, but I'm pretty confident it wouldn't have prevented the damage above. Looks like someone just stepped in the middle of the box.

Maybe add some wood for reinforcement? Im just throwing ideas out LOL.

Our Star Trek panel came in yesterday and the box was damaged...

Luckily the panel survived!

Looks great. What did you put behind the Star Trek word cutouts?

Thanks. I just borrowed a piece of colored paper from the kids craft drawer.

Ordered a piece of blue 12"x2" EL tape from eBay to see how that looks. Will be sure to post a picture once it is installed.

How will you install it? Will it fit behind the SS panel?

#30 7 years ago

Mine came today as well. I swear it must be the same person handling the packages because mine look exactly like the last few pics too.

#31 7 years ago

Anyone have any trouble getting the "glue/sticker" residue off the front? What did you use?

#32 7 years ago

We bring large amounts of freight out of Europe and packages are ALWAYS destroyed to some degree. Not sure why, but I think they pass through a large number of freight hubs to get here.

Can i sneak an Alien Pinball in !!

#34 7 years ago

Hallo!

First i want to tell You that only 1 Panel was bended
all others are fine until now

Cleaning:

use some citrus cleaner
or a label solver

and a very soft handkerchief

and mount it with a double sided mirror tape

EL papers are best source from China
search at eBay.com for el paper

Where are you routing the wires and how are you connecting for power?

#37 7 years ago

You have to drill a hole in the Panel where the cables came out of the el paper

then connect it to 12v DC somewhere

#38 7 years ago

Mine made it, fitted this weekend. Put a small piece of green semi-transparent paper between the LOTR characters to make them stand out a bit. Looks great!

#39 7 years ago

did you ever make one for T2 ? Seems fitting.

#40 7 years ago

Going to try to not drill anything. The double sided tape leaves a small gap between the existing panel and the SS panel. It's going to be tight but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get it in there. As far as the wire goes, I'm going to try and put it around one of the sides of the original panel. There is a small gap on all my pins there and I'm thinking the wire should fit. Will probably protect it with some heat shrink and/or electrical tape.

For those located in the USA - This may be a faster option for delivery. This is what I bought.

I take it you cut the connector off the paper and added a length of wire so that connector was behind the panel.

#48 6 years ago

i did a mistake on my order for a metallica because i have a re run.

Thanks! It *could* almost be except for this...

Quoted from MustangPaul:

The EL paper comes with a connector a few inches away from it so you have to add some wire in between. I just used wire from an old wall wart... a little solder... a little heat shrink... and it was good to go. For 12v I ended up tapping off the ColorDMD feed with an extra adapter I had from a DMD Extender I had laying around. All it did was add another proper connector to tap 12v off.

I could see someone coming up with a wiring kit for like $15-$20 if this kind of panel gets popular. There really isn't much to it.

And I *just* noticed in the picture that I didn't get the tape level. The top of the right symbol isn't fully lit. Idiot...
