Which would you keep in your collection long term?
I was in this boat. A bit anyhow. I played both, consider myself a bit of a trekker (i guess that is the preferred term?). There is something a bit special about how the AFMR's (and others) play. Its just "pinball" to me. Pairs up good with my JP because that game is a bit more mode heavy, or "stop-start" at the least. Trek is on the SAM system which is desirable, and if you can get and earlier build date, that is a plus... I hope to play the crap out of this AFMR LE. I will Maintain it, improve my skills and have some good experiences. It wont be just a trophy, if it just sits, i should not have bought it.
I hope this helps. It was a tough call for me. I needed a faster game to pair with Jurassic Park. The LE is done really well. Its not over done with the mirror blades, saucer leds, and Martian topper. The thing is just a nice total package. Both are nice games to me.
Star Trek Premium (or LE) and AFMr LE are in my opinion 2 of the best looking machines outside of the Jersey Jack realm. They fact they both play great as well is icing.

I prefer Trekkie. My vote is for ST. My vote is biased because I am a huge Trekkie. I do like AMFR a lot too, I can understand how some would like that one better.
Someone sell me a ST Premium or LE.
I'm thinking about buying an LE. Any tips for those who have owned the remake for a while now? Any frustrations with the game? I heard it was difficult to update the software. Any wear issues around the flipper buttons? I wish it had popsicle side rails to protect that area.

You don't have to worry about the decals around the flipper buttons they are very durable. The cabinets on these wont fade or wear like the original I have one of the first ones made. The game requires some setup and tweaking to dial it in, but it's not difficult to do and it plays awesome. The game is not like the Sterns and the JJPs that need code up dates. Its ready to go as soon as you get it. The code is complete!
Quoted from Pin-Geo:Neither. Next Gen is way better than Sterns Star Trek and the original AFM plays better than the remake.
There are some that have both that beg to differ!
