I am not a fan of Star Trek, have not even seen the new movies, so the game wasn't on my radar at all. Thought the playfield looked butt ugly from initial pictures/videos, never doubted it'd play well though because it looks like a Spiderman-type layout, which is proven and good. Was surprised how much I enjoyed playing on a few friends' pros. Doesn't look nearly as bad in person and plays fantastic.

All new Sterns have a honeymoon period when they first come out, it'll take a while for people to settle down about the newest game, but I do think ST is a solid game and one that'll hold up over time.

If you like the theme and/or play enough, resell value won't matter, as you're keeping the game. I'm sure theres a tiny number of people that bought TFLE new in the box and have no regrets, even if the price has taken a nosedive. If you're concerned about losing your ass or ending up with a lesser pin in trade down the road, buying NIB isn't for you. It took my dumb self 4 new games to realize this.

The number of recent Stern games that have skyrocketed in value post release are limited to just 3: IM, ACDC BIB and Tron. The rest have dipped in value, some moreso than others.
