    Generic 7905T type regulator with TO-220 package. Fortunately fairly common.
    Modern Example = MC7905ACTG.

    Depends on Whose 7905CT.
    ST Microelectronics - in all their wisdom, was using "T" in the suffix for their TO-3 devices. What you need is a TO-220 type package.
    TO-3 = metal can (often called 'bottle cap'). obsolete and expensive.
    TO-220 = three legged transistor with metal tab. still made and inexpensive.
    An ST Microelectronics L7905CT is a TO-3, a National (Texas Instruments) LM7905CT is a TO-220.

    L7905CY - never heard of such a critter. Maybe typo since the "T" and "Y" buttons are right next to each other?
