GOOD NEWS: We have found a new home for the VA league after the closing of JOHN'S PLACE !! Mighty Mike’s Bar and Grill (Sterling, VA) has agreed to host 5 pinball machines that are operated by ex-FSPA league player Roland Joyal. Condition of these machines is very nice I am told. Full kitchen, bigger menu, better food I am also told. There is also a change machine. League will meet on Mondays, see below.

Email Joe Schober at [email protected] or Kevin Stone at [email protected] to join the new Mighty Mikes league. With the smaller space and fewer machines, we may have to put a cap on the number of players in this new league.
ALSO, The TOWN HALL players seem to prefer an ongoing weekly club gathering/competition (meets on Tuesdays) rather than operating as an FSPA league. Their website is http://news.townhallpinball.org/
We (the FSPA) may run an FSPA league on a different night at Town Hall if there is interest (players and leadership), considering the shakeup at John's Place (Fairfax) and the new Sterling, VA league being less convenient for some.

The Free State Pinball Association (FSPA) is in its 15th year of running pinball leagues in the Maryland/DC/Virginia area.

We have 2 different leagues - Northern VA (Sterling), and outside of Baltimore MD (Elkridge). Fun is emphasized over competition, but we get plenty of both. League nights consist of group play on 4 machines chosen from the 6-12 machines on location. Each league has a 10-week season schedule, followed by a playoff night. All leagues get together for a season-ending PARTY which is terrific. PRIZES are awarded to playoff winners and everybody who participates in the season gets a chance at the FREE PINBALL MACHINE GIVEAWAY. This year we plan to give away a 1975 Gottlieb Fast Draw (http://www.fspazone.org/giveaway/index.html)
We also welcome "GUEST PLAYERS" if you want to stop in and check out the action mid-season. But now is the best time to come by, join up and play a full season. We have provisions that allow a player to skip or "pre-play" a week if your schedule occasionally does not permit, but we prefer live-play as it is much more social and fun.

There are a variety of reasons to play league pinball. Some do it for the competition, for some it's purely social, some people just want to meet local pinheads/collectors and play a few games. The FSPA has all levels of players in its leagues, from outright beginners to world class players but manages to keep things fun with our format that generally keeps you competing with players of your own skill level. Dues are $4 each week plus $2 coin drop to cover your 4 league "matches".
