Looking for anyone's previous experience regarding wire-ramp repainting.

Would spray painting wire-ramps really be a problem? In the past, I have only powder coated wire ramps, and it was fairly easy to get it done, and not too expensive but took time and the shipping both directions. It got me thinking... Seeing that the ball has very little contact with the wire ramp itself, perhaps a simpler approach would work just as well. If I used an automotive spray paint adhesive followed by a couple coats of auto spray color and then a coat of clear, followed by baking at low heat for a few hours to harden it up, would this work just as well?

I did this for an apron a couple of years ago and it worked great. Anyone care to talk me out of DIY.... 8-)
