I have another solution in the wings, and perhaps by mentioning it here, it might come to life.
At the IAPPA show, is one of the largest Silicone manufacturers exhibiting.
I have a joy for this...I dont know why, but have been around rubber molds since I was an infant.
What i was shown, and received a sample of is a medical grade silicone, they use in the military, and now I believe public, that goes over burns. It allows the skin to breath, and sticks, like the gummy stuff behind inserts in magazines.
They make different grades, but whats great, unlike museum putty, or others, is its high temperature.
It feels like the gooiest bugger you can imagine.
Faced with the same problem in my WOZ, I pull off a pea size piece of this "taffy" and stick it to the side of the bulb,
press the bulb in, and with my finger, smalll screwdriver, just press it against the hood wall.
Problem solved. Bulb comes out when I want, Goo peels out with no residue or mess. Heat is no issue, and no bulbs flying, even when hood is hit.
Is this of use to others? Is the issue big enough to consider a bigger need?
