Quoted from TheLaw:

Honestly, I would wait till people start selling their spots.

How come? Wait for gameplay video? That’s my big worry about ordering. Will it play well. Thanks.

Well if you order a CE now, IF you can find one (let alone 2), yours will be made at the very last run on CEs. If you wait till someone sells their CE spot with a higher number, you could be moving up hundreds of spots and months of time.

That is assuming your production number sticks with the sale. Can anyone that lived through R&M just clear this up for us? Thanks.

Yeah, if a spot in line is sold, it transfers with that same spot number.

I think they should build the games whether it’s a CE, BSE, or SE based on your number in line. Poor SE buyers are getting fucked without a game for who knows how long.

They knew the build schedule ahead of time. They made their choice.

And many likely chose to have the longest time possible to save/prepare/wait for their machines.

Judging by these threads of every CE owner practically expecting to have their game by Halloween, there may be some CE buyers surprised at how far back in the line they are. SE buyers know they can get cozy and keep the coffee pot fresh for the others.

Yeah, I’m fully expecting mine to show up next June since most went CE...but that’s alright by me. Game will have more developed code, adjustments will be made and things dialed in. With Spooky it’s best to have a mid production number or later. I think we’ll especially see that with this game seeing as how its packed with unique mechs.

I'm in on a Halloween BSE. I thought about going CE, but I would have to remove the topper before I even set it up due to my low ceilings. Since that's the only place it says "John Carpenter's Halloween" on the CE, I figured it would look off without the topper. I like the BSE trim color more, but the wait with all of the CE orders is going to be brutal.

#59 1 year ago

I find it amusing that there are probably going to be less than 50 ultra man SEs out there, lol

#60 1 year ago

Hope you don’t mind I linked the games. Halloween CE for me.

I'm in on a CE from Spooky, but a little more to the story... I was among the rest of the F5 mashing, head banging screen, cursing internet crazy faction of crazy pinball fanatics out there, trying to get the Spooky site to respond. Through all the F5 mashing I somehow ended up with 2 in my cart. Dammit, had to start again, got to the checkout process then got the dreaded error 251, Fuck it I thought, email Joe at Pinball Star, 1 minute later his email shows up pound the keys to purchase a CE deal done Woohoo thinks I. Then I hit refresh on the Spooky site and wtf, get order confirmed from Spooky, now I get email from both Spooky and PayPal I just spent $4,060 Oh Oh! Emailed Joe and told him I've now got 2 Halloween CE's on order! So what does this guy do, who I've never met or even talked to before. This guy goes the extra mile, over and above all expectations, he then proceeds to confirm with Spooky that I do have an order with them BEFORE he's going to refund my card! Can't say enough positive things about this guy. My next NIB is definitely going to Pinball Star
So if you need a Halloween CE call Joe as I've just cancelled that order. Keep on flipping guys, we are an obsessive bunch

Halloween CE

First NIB(im in over my head but dont care)

1st spooky

I was gonna go se or bse but figured likely my only ever NIB i was gonna go big. It wont leave ever!

#64 1 year ago

In for a UM CE. I’m expecting it’s going to be quite a while before I get my game, but that’s ok. Hopefully by then I’ll be tired of something else so I won’t have to find more space.

#65 1 year ago

Halloween CE through Pinballstar. First Spooky for me as well. Never thought I'd be willing to wait 12 to 18 months for a game.

same here. Hopefully they get to work!

No Games, No Go, No Cash Flow, I still think the 12-18mo was a buffer due to parts, not production.
Spooky didn't expand their facility to dragass. just my .02

I never thought I'd spend like 8500+ on a game....and yet my Ultraman BSE will cost that much after shipping. That's even assuming I don't cave in to the direct print cabinet (I refuse to call it the stupid marketing word).

#69 1 year ago

Been out of the hobby for 2+ years, and didnt think id ever get back in. But Halloween is a dream theme for me, and had to have it. Ordered BSE version but considered CE. Ultimately didnt care for the gold armor, and especially the pumpkin button protectors and speaker grills. The topper alone though almost made me look past those things.

Might upgrade to butter cabinet. Still weighing the oros of going that route. First Spooky for me as well.

Halloween CE, #11344 at 9:06. My third Spooky!

I never thought I’d pull the trigger but I did. I can’t wait to have friends over to play it in the future.

Damn, are you expecting a $500 shipping cost?

#73 1 year ago

Halloween BSE through KingPin. Not gonna lie though, I was full steam ahead until they unveiled Ultraman. I was so stunned by that announcement (big fan as a kid and hadn’t thought about that show in ages) that I almost ordered UM. But in the end, the trauma of seeing Halloween in a theater at age 9 (back in the 70s parental guidance was only suggested) won out.

Halloween and Ultraman CE’s are being built first and at the same time. Then BSE then SE built last.
50 to distributors, then 50 customers and so on.

I mean.....it wouldn't surprise me. I haven't bought from Spooky before, so all I have to go on really is my prior experience shipping games myself.

#76 1 year ago

Halloween CE, #11427 at 9:37. My third Spooky but 1st NIB!

#77 1 year ago
Quoted from damadczar:

AMH.... which is the one you have! LOL.
I should likely sell one and get back down to 4, just so 1/3 of my collection isn't Spooky only games.

No judgement from me. I just added ACNC and Halloween to pair with my AMH. If you don’t count my Taxi in pieces, that’s 100% Spooky…

Didn't see this until today.

HWN CE #11544 at 9:45 an CST

halloween ce from joe at pinballstar... first spooky pin

#84 1 year ago

Ultraman CE, first Spooky pin. 2nd NIB, although still waiting for GNR to arrive. Patience is a virtue I guess. Super excited about a unique theme and playfield. Hope the code is not rushed.

Halloween CE. First Spooky pin

I like Spooky's style of saying that if you're a cheap bastard and go for the standard edition, we build this one last. The next version down is the flat-pack edition. Build it yourself, for only $4999.99.

Hey, that's a joke btw....don't get any ideas Stern.

I'd be in for a Halloween, but I'd have to see it, touch it, smell it, and play it first. No way would I buy a 9 grand toy blind!

#87 1 year ago

But that's super practical. Where's the fun in that?

Just got the shipment email on my G&R. Took seven months. End of December order end of July delivery.

Ready to see gameplay of Spookys new one!

.....

I'd do this. Just saying. That would be extremely bloody rewarding to build the game with my own hands. It's been discussed to death and back previously on Pinside, but yeah.

Went with SE ...I dont have any toppers...I dont do mods...I do like shakers and subs...I buy Stern premiums so want it to match my lineup although I have one LE ...I'm ok with waiting...there will be 2 CEs really close to me to play until then...pretty excited about this title...could be the game of the year!

Great thing is you can get spooky shakers from pinball life.
