Comments from playing Ultraman yesterday at Allentown:
1) The game was fun but I didn’t know what I was doing so my play didn’t last long. One ball was ejected to the inlane and I let I roll down the flipper without knowing it was was there. There was a unique sound and a flashing light so I should have realized where the ball was.
2) strip lights were not an irritant.
3) The flippers seemed to be strong enough.

Talk to Spooky:
1) The strip lights were set to 50% brightness on the game at Allentown.
2) They lifted the playfield and the circuit board mounted to the bottom of the playfield was toward the back of the cabinet. It didn’t look like there should be an issue with access.
3) They brought Ultraman to Allentown because Charlie was at another convention with Halloween.
4) I believe they said that the code currently had “14 modes” (not 100 % sure of number) and that they would continue adding to the code.
5) They were worried about whether they could obtain enough butter cabinets from their supplier if they included as a default.

What happens during multi ball when a ball is going over the lifter when it activates? Is there a risk to the plastics over the lanes? I know from experience on my Spiderman that loading 3 balls at the same time into Sandman crushes the plastics in that area. I hope that something like this isn’t possible on this game.

I’ve got an Ultraman on order and am looking forward to getting it sometime next year. My one concern is the sound every time the ball hits the slings at the bottom of the playfield. Is there a way to reduce the frequency of how often that sound is produced. The sound fits in well with the theme but may be too much of a good thing. What do owners think? Does the sound get irritating?

Maybe have the sound tied to something other than the bottom slings. Such a prominent sound is tied to the least important and most scored item on the playfield. Maybe play the sound when a drop target is hit. Is the sound tied to advances on the map currently?

Quoted from SpookyLuke:

I don't see any reason we can't do this! I'll suggest it to Bug!
Also as for the game loosing the ball. Going to see if I can get them on the phone and get the root cause. Must be some sort of oddity as we never lost any at shows or on any other games I know of.
I'll honestly assume we will find some very odd ball traps or places the ball can squeeze into on this game with the 3 levels being so large. We knew that was a risk going into it but we really wanted to make this thing cool.

Maybe even have a setting where you can set the percentage of time the sound occurs when it hits the slings. It’s a good sound, just to frequent. A percentage should make everyone happy.

I feel like Ultraman is playing second fiddle to Halloween by Spooky. All posts by spooky seem to be about Halloween and very little being posted about Ultraman. Halloween gets an update and then maybe Ultraman gets some of the same features. I hope we don’t end up with a game optimized for Halloween and then mapped to Ultraman as an afterthought. Let’s see an Ultraman release that is ahead of Halloween and not just an update with remapped Halloween features.

Hey guys I will have to note that at some point I am going to have to stick to the Club threads only! 2 or 3 threads for each title is just to much to keep up with! Ill stick around for a bit longer but now you know!

What thread are you going to monitor for Ultraman? This thread has the most posts. Which forum is the “club?”
