Quoted from Shapeshifter:My only question for Wednesday is, how quickly will this sell out?!
Considering there will also be blocks going to distros….. probably pretty quick.

Quoted from Hazoff:No I meant who the hell is Ultraman.
Awesome Japanese cheese super hero from the late 60’s (akin to rubber suit Godzilla) to current.
Quoted from jwilson:I really enjoy TNA and R&M but those are Scott designs, and if I’m being honest neither is polished to the level of a JJP or Stern release. The themes are awesome but they still have a boutique feel.
So I’m torn. I like the theme but will gameplay be there?
That’s a fair assessment - it took me MONTHS to get my R&M shooting really nicely and I did way more things to it than I should have to get it there. I almost gave up on it but I love it now.
Charlie mentioned in one of their recent videos how they’ve improved their manufacturing and QC. I’m willing to give them another shot. Worst case I lose a few hundred on the resale.
Quoted from rai:At least R&M had some explinatitory video. Here we got nothing.
I love Spooky but it almost seems like they want people to order with less/little information about the game.
Here is R&M video, maybe we will get something like that for these at the last minute.
Very simple … don’t buy one.
You have 7 hours and 40 minutes to decide.
Quoted from fridgejam:Right there is the problem. It looks you gotta jump in and buy the game before anybody knows how shoots.
Spooky could have shown some video of this, but it appears like it has been a deliberate choice not to.
Show your distaste with Spooky by NOT giving them your money.
It’s literally that easy.
You have 6 hours and 41 minutes to decide.
Quoted from fridgejam:We could all agree NOT to order until we have seen some game play...
Yeah…. good luck with that. I’m cool with being the owner of Ultraman #1
Quoted from Rarehero:I’m reading these in Robocop’s voice.
You have 36 minutes to decide.
Quoted from Rarehero:I’m reading these in Robocop’s voice.
I was thinking more Saw.
Quoted from TigerLaw:This is a super exciting day. I think everyone agrees that Ultraman sells out before Halloween…but how quickly will the sell out be?
Hour tops.
Quoted from InvaderHouse:Yeah, I went through the checkout again because it showed one still in cart. This time it went through and I got the message oliviarium mentioned.
[quoted image]
Mine finally went through as well.
In on a CE.
Quoted from marksf123:From my understanding the Ultraman is capped at 500 games total but not capped at how many are made within that 500. So you can upgrade to a CE if you want.
…
Limited to a total number of 1,250 Halloween games and 500 Ultraman games BUT no set number of any edition of each game - order which one you want.
Yes - this came directly from SpookyLuke as well.
Quoted from pballinhd:Just went on sale
https://store.nakatomiinc.com/ultraman.aspx
That’s a pretty cool game room piece.
Quoted from marksf123:Just wondering who is in or out for the butter cabinet.
I imagine (like mine) most of these will be going in a lineup and won’t see the sides anyway.
Quoted from DakotaMike:Well Luke and Bug have talked a lot about how they designed this run of games from the ground up to be easier and quicker to build.
And the Pinitaur (sp?) board seems well suited to simplifying wiring further expediting assembly. Lots of good changes at Spooky. Can’t wait to see it all together.
Quoted from TechnicalSteam:Will the let you come and pick up your game from the Factory?
Yes
Quoted from Frax:Nope.
*edit* I'll probably email if nothing by end of day tomorrow, then give them until monday afternoon or so to reply.
Only way this distro can really piss me off is telling me I don't have a game and/or refusing to return my money if that's the case. But there's no logical reason to assume that would ever happen. I picked this guy because I like other stuff he's done, and wanted to support a smaller vendor. Not worried about it, it's just some moderate jealousy.
Dude … have a drink, smoke a doob, do whatever you need to do to Chill The Fuck Out.

Easy Big Boy

+1
Quoted from guitarded:I was playing my Rick and Morty while listening and as he was complaining about the unhittable shots, I hit 6 left ramps with 4 backed by upper orbits to the garage shot.
He then went on to fawn over LZ.
I think it was a fair assessment of R&M. I own it, I love it …. now that it’s dialed in. But I spent a lot of time, money, sweat, and tears (drilling into a new playfield) getting it there. I shouldn’t have to rebuild the playfield. I know other people had better experiences out of the box, but I didn’t.
I’m also in on a UMCE so I have confidence that Spooky has learned from their past. At least I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. We’ll see soon enough.
Led Zeppelin… meh. I’m over the music and can’t imagine listening to the same 10 songs a million more times.
Quoted from lifefloat:Does the print have a butter option?
What number print did you get??
Quoted from TigerLaw:I’d really like to get my inner loop a bit more dialed in. It’s almost impossible to hit if the ball comes in right along the rail in what should be a normal feed shot. The inner loop is the one shot I wish was easier to aim for and hit regularly.
Quoted from TigerLaw:Made no adjustments yet
Pull your house and shoot some slow-mo. I literally adjusted every upper ball guide and had a new diverter made. It’s a lot of work but the end result is worth it.
Back to UM…
Quoted from insight75:During some repair work….[quoted image]
That’s a pretty bad ass all-in-one controller board, @benheck.
Is there a write-up thread in the forum that I’m not seeing?
Played UMce at Ayce Gogi (Van Nuys) today while on a biz trip to LA.
Really fun game.
- PF looks amazing
- Light show amazing
- Flow is surprisingly really nice
- The lifters do take a little getting used to. Location players will get frustrated but hopefully Spooky implements staging.
- Art is incredible
- Flippers are snappy and strong. I played about 6 games no noticeable fade after multiple games and multiple MBs.
- Modes were fun and challenging with pretty good direction from the PF lights.
- The loops and ramps were smooth, repeatable, and satisfying.
I was by myself so I didn’t get a great feel for the display and animations but the movie clips were awesome.
Like many have mentioned previously the font color for the score gets a bit washed by the red on gray. My opinion is, change the color or increase the size of the font.
Unfortunately the game had a dead flipper on the top PF but I was able to put up some decent scores and get to the middle PF with regularly.
As the game sits, it’s really fun. With a few tweaks to the software this game will be awesome. Spooky’s best yet.
Quoted from FlippyD:The flipper on the top PF doesn't work until the upper PF is active. Did you actually get a ball up there and it still didn't flip?
Well that would explain it.
I thought the screen was fine. I changed the screen on my R&M so I have some basis of comparison.
The video clips and animations in this game don’t have near as much true black as R&M has. So if it is the same screen as R&M, I don’t think you’re going to notice. I didn’t.
Quoted from Palmer:But wouldn't there need to be a staged ball at both inlanes?
Yes - from a software perspective this wouldn’t be very difficult.
First subway shot to either side would become the staged ball for that game. When the game ends the lifters would push the balls out and the cycle repeats for every game - like a physical ball lock.
