In for a UMBSE. This will be our 3rd Spooky game! Hoping it's not *too* long before they hit the BSEs, but I'm ok with a bit of a wait. It'll give me some time to clear up a spot. I figured most of them are CEs too.

Did SpookyLuke or anyone else on the Spooky team mention what assets are being used? It seems like they have the intro music at least and obviously clips from the show, but what will the callouts sound like? It would kind of be awesome to have dual language callouts (Japanese with English subs on the screen! or English) After a while, you'd know what the Japanese callouts would be if it wasn't in your normal lexicon. Would be a nice touch.
Quoted from Rascal_H:First time dealing with a distributor (pinball star). Can I send them payments along the way instead of getting hit all at once? Thanks.
Check with Joe. He'll be able to tell you one way or the other.
Quoted from RC_like_the_cola:Charlie mentioned that the majority of audio direct from the show will be the native Japanese with English subs defaulting to ON. He said some lines will be in both languages and the Japanese actress they hired did English and Japanese callouts. That's what I believe based on some posts in the main Spooky's Next Game thread.
EDIT: I was wrong. It was this thread where he mentioned that.

I thought I read this somewhere, but between the flurry of all the posts, I forgot about it
This will make it all the better! I should have faith in the Spooky crew and Charlie, especially, being so impassioned with the theme.
Quoted from TheLaw:20 bucks a week!
At BSE level, taking away the 1500 deposit, it'll take 6.25 years to pay off.
image-asset (resized).jpegQuoted from lpeters82:I'm just curious. For those that purchased Ultraman, are you more into the classic tv show style or comic style? I personally have zero nostalgia for the classic tv show, so I much prefer the assets from comics. I think it's going to be a mix either way, so just wondering what others are more interested in seeing.

I was into Japanese culture long before pinball (always went to the one shelf anime section at Blockbuster as a kid to see what kind of naughty movies I could rent )
I never watched Ultraman, so I have no nostalgia for it. What I do love is the multicultural theme of this game, Spooky, Charlie's passion for it, and the fact that it does draw from the original series with the AMAZING use of miniatures, rear projection, and rubber suits that essentially boil down to bad WWE wrestling (essentially what I did as a kid with my friends on a mattress on the floor)
After a bit of back and forth, my wife was the one that actually kept pestering me to go in, and so we did. Now after watching the first ep with my kids, my little guy keeps asking for it, and keeps asking if the next ep will be in English so he can understand as he can quite read the subtitles yet. We are starting to make our way through the Netflix series now.

That is almost a direct "swipe" as you guys put it. From the shapes of the blobs, to the placement of the balls. The only difference is the female form, but even she is nearly the same.
That was a really great show and Matt Frank seemed really enthusiastic and excited to be part of the project. Just seems like a really fun and nerdy dude all around. The way Charlie and Bug talked about the game made me even more excited about getting one. I think it's awesome that CE plaques are getting signed!
I think the general pinball community underestimates how huge (pun intended) Ultraman really is overseas! Can't wait to see game play video and get hands on this game!
Quoted from j_m_:I believe that arthur adams also penned the original cover for trials of ultraman #4

I've only seen a few episodes of the original series, but does Ultraman appear as "normal" human sized or is he only ever a kaiju?
Quoted from Morinack:I am still curious how the build order will run with Halloween competing for floor space. Seems like whatever Spooky decides, somebody is gonna have ruffled feathers. Personally I think they should build ALL the UKRs first.
Despite the sarcasm, there will undoubtedly be folks that are unhappy with their place in line, and will have order numbers or timestamps to "prove" why they should be before this person or that person. There are already people speculating what place in line they will be based on their order number from Spooky. They will surely be disappointed.
My advice for everyone getting any game from Spooky; just let it happen. Enjoy the thread, the unboxings, the talk about rules, layout etc. Don't count the minutes or "actively" wait for when your number game is on the line. It'll happen when it happens. They've delivered 100% of their games to date.
In the meantime, go out and play it on location if can't wait. I know for some, there won't be that opportunity, but for others, there will be. Posting order numbers, and timestamps doesn't do much to celebrate the game/s or the company. So just hang tight and have reasonable expectations. Your ride will be so much more enjoyable that way. /soapbox
I really like the turnaround ramp to the 2nd lvl playfield. Makes the transition really quick. It seemed like there was a couple of pauses that slowed down gameplay. Without seeing the screen it's hard to tell if there was a mode being started or not. With that said, I like what I see. Thanks to everyone for posting the vids!
