Quoted from Happy81724:Wasn’t there less ultraman than Rick and morty? Halloween was faster though with 1250 vs 750 Rick and morty. I was actually surprised ultraman didn’t sell out quicker than it did. Either way, awesome for spooky.
Yes 500 UM vs 750 R&M. But to be fair, R&M sales weren’t competing with 1250 Halloween sales at the same time.
Winner - UltraMan!
Quoted from ToucanF16:It would be nice if they publish STD/BSE/CE numbers.
The $1000 jump from STD to BSE is good bang for the buck. However, IMHO, the thousand dollar jump from BSE to CE is more of a money grab.
I don’t know, I think there’s good value in the CE:
Topper - $500
Shooter - $150
Laser cut side rails - $250
Custom Speaker Grills - $100
Custom toy - $50
See - $1050 of value for only $1000!
Quoted from Frax:Okay, let's be honest here..
Having lollypop rails laser cut doesn't cost 250 bucks.
The speaker panel is powder coated on the BSE, just changing the powder type isn't *generally* going to cost 100 bucks more unless it's super fancy multi-shot powder that requires multiple bake cycles.
I’ll concede your speaker panel point - I didn’t know the BSE panel was powdered. But standard side armor price is $250:
Quoted from Rascal_H:Anyone else choose Ultraman over Halloween due to little ones in the house? Curious.
No little ones in the house, but I chose Ultraman over Halloween because it’s too violent for me. I don’t want to be creeped out/tense while I’m playing pinball. It’s the same reason I sold my Alien. I like lighter funny spooky themes - EHoH, TAF, MB, ACNC, Scooby Doo!, etc

Good interview. The biggest revelation for me: Ultraman was the original theme - Halloween was the retheme. I always assumed it was the other way around.
Quoted from Aeolus7:Very interesting, I was convinced the Hedges/buildings were Halloween inspired for sure, though perhaps those shots were in the game before either theme was in discussion.
Yea - I thought that as well until I watched episode 2 of Ultraman. Baltan can duplicate/project himself (similar to Marvel’s Loki). The 3 different Baltans popping out behind the buildings make so much more sense now that I’ve seen the episode.
Quoted from nicoy3k:the hedges are freaking genius lol. half the movie is michael appearing from behind things. some of you are impossible to please
Wait, there’s hedges in Ultraman?
Who is this Michael you refer to?
Quoted from Frax:I just really didn't want to wait over a YEAR.
I think you just figured out why people are paying the extra $250 (by your math). It’s about being in the front of the line.
However I think your estimates are a little low - at least going by Stern’s prices. Aftermarket side rails are $250 (yes, I understand the delta for Spooky is much lower). Stern toppers are $1000 now. The last “low” priced topper was JP at $600. And Stern shooter rods are around $100.
I’m not sure what price to put on a signed CE plaque, it is certainly worth $100 in my eyes.
Quoted from Frax:I don't give a dead baby's dick what the prices are listed for, or what people will pay....because I sure as hell will not. Anyone that doesn't think those toppers are overpriced for what they are is a total loon. I'm interested only in the intrinsic value of the items. This whole "topper bubble" is just that...a bubble. I'm not going to be the one left holding the bag. On Halloween, they did something pretty unique with the topper. I don't feel like the Ultraman one comes up to that level, even if it fits the theme, and that's just my personal opinion.
Lol - I said nothing about topper aftermarket values. I’m just giving examples of what one would expect to pay for add-on items at Stern MSRP. Using those values, the CE edition is priced appropriately for me and I chose that edition (along with 85% of the other buyers).
Quoted from Betelgeuse:It looks like closer to 1 to 3 for BSE/CE Ultraman. For BSE/CE Halloween it's more like 1 to 6.
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/spooky-which-one-did-you-buy/
Pretty limited sample size though - there could be some strange polling effects. Maybe CE people are more likely to vote in the poll?
Hopefully Spooky will give us a breakdown at some point. I would guess there are more se/bse than what the poll shows.
Quoted from RC_like_the_cola:Nitro has a few as well. And yes, the little plaque on the BSE indicates it is a Fang Club edition.
You can't order one without proving you are a Fang Club member.
Yea, Nitro still shows “many in stock” for both Halloween and Ultraman (which I believe indicates 10 or more).
Quoted from Roostking:Im really a newb at pinball, but after 60 years, you would think something like flippers would be pretty much the same across the board. Or are flipper designs proprietary?
It’s the most critical mech in the game and one of the more complicated ones as well.
It’s a delicate balance of responsiveness, reliability and heat dissipation and no manufacturer does it the same as another.
The mechanical design is - at a high level - the same across manufacturers, but there is variety in materials used, armature design, coil selection (single vs double wound), etc.
On the electrical side - there are differences in the driving voltage and hold pulse patterns (for single wound coils).
Quoted from Var1AbL3:I bet they are working their butts off over there trying to get us Gameplay video. I don't think Bug actually does the video editing, and there are licencing approvals to consider. They WILL get us gameplay as soon as possible. Luckily for them all the games are already sold and they have time till they start shipping to us
I would guess they are working their butts off trying to streamline the assembly line so they can start cranking out games.
I doubt a gameplay video is a priority since the game is sold out. It will probably happen whenever Bowen can spend some time on it and after the code has firmed up a bit more.

New video from Allentown. Awesome game!
I won’t be watching any videos - why spoil the surprise now after I’m already committed?
Glad to hear people are liking it though.
Quoted from Thunderbird:Being a huge Ultraman fan (I saw many of the series when they originally aired in Japan, while living there), I’ve purchased the Tsuburaya Steel Book series that are all remastered in Blu-ray, which Spooky surely has access to and the ratio looks very good in a 4:3 aspect ratio. It fills my 65” OLED but does have black bars running down left and right side, since its not 16x9. Aspect ratio of 1.33:one means the image's width is 1.33 times the size of its height. To eliminate decimals in this ratio, you can write it as 4:3 instead. Ultraman was done in this ratio and will fill the spooky LCD if they wanted it to be filled. So it can easily be larger, while making the cool looking controls much smaller.
Since I speak fluent Japanese, sure looking forward to switching it to Japanese instead of English or hearing both at the same time. So cool!
It appears from the Amazon reviews that the 2019 Steel Book Blu Ray doesn't include the English dub audio track?
Quoted from happyclan:General question here. Do we know what kind of hardware is in this pin as far as boards? Does it have a PC like JJP uses? I really like the CGCs because the stick with the soild state stuff.
It’s a new controller designed by Ben Heck named “Pinotaur”.
Before that they were using PROC on ACNC and TNA. AMH and RZ were PinHeck boards.
Spooky has never used a PC for their production games.
Quoted from Aeolus7:Absolutely, it's a Kaiju-fan's dream. What a pair to put next to each other.
Correct me if I’m wrong - but I don’t believe Spooky has ever said they fulfill orders in strict chronological game number order. I believe they just said we do CEs first, BSEs second and SEs last.
JJP certainly does it that way - it’s not uncommon to see LE game #800 get shipped several weeks before #700 for instance.
I would understand if Spooky needed to produce all Australian games at once to fill a shipping container or some similar circumstance. I would also bet there’s a lot of shuffling at first to get games on location, to beta testers, etc.
Quoted from FlippyD:Does Pinball Browser work on Spooky games for changing sounds?
No. But more than likely they will change the sounds if they continue to receive feedback - they made several sound changes (including the slingshots) early on with ACNC.
Quoted from Thunderbird:Sure hoping Spooky has gone to IPS instead so we don’t get washed out colors like R&M has. I sure don’t want to have to change out my display like Kaneda had to on his to get proper color. Please let us know what your experience is on the new screen of Ultraman. Game looks good!
I am tall and I had to change the monitor on my TNA to IPS because it was washed out. However the UM monitor looks great. The colors are nice and crisp!
As an early ACNC owner (#14), I can assure you the game that exists today will look 100% different in 6 months. They will put a TON of new content, polish and feedback suggestions in UM just like they did in ACNC.
Quoted from Palmer:Rough draft of what I am talking about. I think something along these lines would be a lot better. Maybe make the top corners look more like control panel pieces but you get the drift.[quoted image]
Nice - I like it!
