Yo, that raffle is already at 92%.

I think I grabbed the last two tickets. It was at 80% and then 100% when I checked out.

I didn't dilly dally this time around. I grabbed an entry early.

What assets does Ultraman have? Is it just from the 1966 39 episodes?

Charlie has hinted at Ultraseven and the wizard mode is called Ultra Brothers, so I imagine they have more than just the 66 episodes to work with.

Its probably goes to Ultraman Ace given what we know on the play field.

I’ve got a nice copy of that exact book which I will grade just for the cover. Jim steranko art!

That was a pic of my actual copy. Super valuable.....$10cdn tops

Special signature on the plaque of the Ultraman CE‘s.

#811 2 years ago

Wow, apparently all CE will have Bin Furuya signature! As an Ultraman fan, this is amazing!!

They said he has all the plaques and is signing them. How would they know how many to send? I hope it's for all editions. You know, since I got a BS.

Guess we're SOL on that one, methinks. Oh well. I'd still rather have the trim I want than the plaque. :\

Ultraman 55th anniversary month in Tokyo right now going on, with stores promoting Ultraman everywhere!

Mine is CBC worthy. I scoped out key covers when I was younger. I will grade it just for the cover. I personally seeing myself doing that about bi annually. Grading a small bunch just for the covers. Here are a couple of the other covers I will get to in my collection.

That was a really great show and Matt Frank seemed really enthusiastic and excited to be part of the project. Just seems like a really fun and nerdy dude all around. The way Charlie and Bug talked about the game made me even more excited about getting one. I think it's awesome that CE plaques are getting signed!

I think the general pinball community underestimates how huge (pun intended) Ultraman really is overseas! Can't wait to see game play video and get hands on this game!

I was having fun searching Spooky's history on their Facebook page when I found these pictures. Posted December and July of 2018

You would be better off framing it.
Ive worked at my friend's comic shop (which he owns).
You do you but i know for fact that even a 9.8 copy unfortunately wont be worth the cost of grading it. Plenty of money to be made in comics though. Ive sold a few to fund pinball myself. (I just sold an ungraded Invincible #1 for 1k actually)

I wonder if people are allowed to change at this point with new information coming out. From what they said initially you can't. It also changes the deposit (so the initial amount on Day 1 of launch was less). I guess if they do allow upgrades, I think it would make sense to put those people at the back of the line for the CE machines since their original purchase was to be produced after?

Thoughts?

What we saw with R&M was that Spooky didn't want to have to deal with flip flopping during build cycle. However, they will honor folks trading their builds outside. So if you find someone that wants to downgrade and you want to upgrade, your transaction is outside of Spooky, and Spooky just needs to update the new owner in their systems prior to build.

I assume it would be close to this.

Personally, I think that's a pretty selfish line of thinking, but what do I know. First was first, and there's probably people that already changed BSE->CE after seeing how many CE are in front of them and sent the money. They going to go back and push those guys to the end as well? Honestly, aside from upgrading their overall website, a consistent policy posted there on how things like this are to be handled might be a good idea at this point, given the number of games they're able to sell in one day.

#827 2 years ago

Meh, after listening to over a year of gripes, moans, and groans on the subject over on the R&M thread, i just decided to be happy i have one on order, and i will see it when it gets here. My R&M took exactly 1 year to be built, and worth the wait. If somebody else swapped or sold their spot, i didn't really care. You will also find that machines are built out of order from actual order numbers. Anything that is going overseas for example, as it is more cost effective for Spooky to fill out a container as much as possible when heading to EU or OZ. How distributor's builds occur is also a thing that is hard to dovetail into Spooky's orders. All in all, Spooky does an amazing job at trying to make buyers happy while running a truly boutique service.

#828 2 years ago

Who knows what they end up doing. I just know from asking before the launch that you are locked in for whatever version you pick. They are a good company =)

What will the next game be?!?! Who can find the hints in their pics????

Charlie did say to his son in one of the recent videos at the end, "Nice shirt son, Bug replied thanks Dad". Bug was wearing an Evil Dead shirt at the time, one can only hope.

While I love the idea of ED in a pin, not sure how many times i could hear "We're going to get you." before i lose my mind completely.

Yep they didn't elude to anything or any version, It could be ED III: Army of Darkness where that campy humor does fit well into pinball.

Hey this is cool - a friend of mine did this Ultraman couch gag on The Simpsons in 2003....and now he's directing a new Ultraman CG film for Netflix!

Will pops be missed?

Quoted from c818919taylor:

Nope. I've gotta have pops on an EM. Not so much on a solid state, especially with this much on it. When is the last time we saw a pop bumper that actually did anything other than hold up the ball? TNA. Before that? Wow, you've got to go back quite a while, I think.

Actually Rick & Morty...but I get your point.

Oops, my bad. I've never seen R&M in person and haven't looked at the playfield that much. I've never even seen a video of it being played! Damn my imperfect knowledge. But yeah.

The pop as a sling on R&M is awesome. Since both TNA and R&M, might be Scott's signature...

#840 2 years ago
Quoted from c818919taylor:

Don't miss them on Shadow or No Fear.

Not all games need them. Just gives you more room to do something else, and HalloMan defintely seems to be using the extra real estate.

#841 2 years ago

I love the lower pop on Spanish Eyes ; I think they are over-used and take up precious real estate, especially if they are far from the player so they don't really do much except slow down the game. So kudos to Spooky for not including them in this layout!

Don't miss them on Rick and Morty either.

Yes, I know R&M technically has a pop bumper, but it really just acts as a slingshot.

Trailers on Elivra are from public domain films. Unfortunately stuff from Ultraman is not so there would be copyright issues.<

Would of been so good for Spooky if they could have got a couple of pinballs out there for this in time as well.

I'll miss them a little bit, but there is only so much space on a playfield.

This is something i never thought I would be sharing on Pinside.
I was lucky enough to spend the summer of 81 in Tokyo.
During a side trip to Kyoto I got to go to Toei Kyoto Studio Park.
Thought I would share some of the pics i took of their miniature scenes. (and of course a kaiju)

Heads up that Joe at pinballstar has two CEs and one BSE left.

Finally gave in and ordered a UM CE to go with HWN CE. Joe said he can space a CE out to the very end, which sealed it for me.

#849 2 years ago

We can only rewatch the teaser so many times. . Ready for some action.

Going deep!

Ultraman series arrived and I'm 4 episodes in. Loving it

Also ordered a SSSP communicator
