Perfect artist for this theme. His art in general is fantastic and is a great fit for pinball. https://www.mattfrankart.net/
Brings back some nice childhood tv memories, and I love the campy feel and 60's Japanese go-go music. Very tempting purchase, but right now I'm leaning towards Halloween.
Congratulations to the Spooky Pinball team! This is a great move on their part. Beating Stern to the punch somewhat, as some fans of the ‘Zilla franchise might also be interested in Ultraman. Lots of positive vibes with these twin machines from Spooky. Well done!
Quoted from blueberryjohnson:I bet the internet knows!
Do a search for the name on your computing machine.
My 10 year old knew who he was and said it looked awesome. Definitely gravitate more towards this theme than Halloween (would love “The thing” if we’re doing John carpenter) even though both look really fun and great art packages in all
Man, Ultraman was one of the first shows I vaguely remember as a kid. I loved it, but only seem to remember the main guy always struggling to reach betacapsule? So tense, but he always seemed to pull it off.
Watched this show all the time as a kid while living in Okinawa. The artwork looks awesome. We need more Japanese pop culture themed pins.

I’d love to see them do Akira.
Yeah, the more I think about this, the more bummed I am that there are only 500 being made. I thought I was beyond a theme selling me on a game, but man, this is exactly the kind of pin I want in my basement.
(Best Morty vat of acid episode voice) God damnit! Just when I thought my money was safe since I wasn't that into the Halloween theme.
the Ultraman art is SO GOOD
I really hope this gets some traction in Japanese markets, too. It's my dream that new pinball sales pick up in places like Japan and South Korea.
Ultraman to me is the 2nd SNES game i ever played. Id choose Ultraman over Halloween all day everyday.
Quoted from Phbooms:Ultraman to me is the 2nd SNES game i ever played.
Same! It was one of the first games I remember renting when I got the SNES at launch.
Quoted from Betelgeuse:Same! It was one of the first games I remember renting when I got the SNES at launch.
Also a very early SNES game for me. It was godawful compared to Street Fighter 2, but I did play it enough to be able to cheese the game!
The wife says Halloween, so it looks like we’re going with Halloween.
I think it will look killer next to Rob Zombie and Alice Cooper.
Is Ultraman like an overseas or west coast thing? I’ve never heard of it and I’m pretty familiar with most of the niche themes. I’ve never even heard of this one being tossed out as a ‘wanted theme’. Could be a fun game, I guess it would be like a non licensed theme to me.
Well this is out there, you can't say Spooky isn't trying to different themes for sure. Not really my thing but I am sure there is a market out there for this.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:That layout is...interesting...
I will play ACNC this week at a friends house and I played all the other Spooky pins, they feel different that the major manufacturers. I love the two that I have TNA and R&M but they are both kind of stripped down and fast which I like. I am not sure if all those motors and whatnot will be any problem to get working 100%

how familiar with the term 'KAIJU' are you?
Quoted from taylor34:never even heard of this one being tossed out as a ‘wanted theme’.
That's because none of us familiar with this stuff would've ever thought it would be a thing. Godzilla is the only thing out of this stuff that's instantly recognizable to the vast majority of Americans...
Like you probably have no clue WTF Gamera is either.
Quoted from ectobar:Did Spooky say if the rules on both Halloween and UM will be exactly the same?
I heard they are diff'rent
Quoted from metallik:Rules just about the same, was said by spooky in one of these threads...
If (BIG IF) the scoring on what we've seen of Halloween is legit, I can tell you the factor of scoring in Ultraman is about 1/100th of Halloween.
The H screen said 10 billion, the Ultraman one said like 21 million or something LOL
Quoted from pascal-pinball:What the hell is Ultraman ???!!
It's my next pinball machine purchase from a great company that doesn't have PF issues.

Sounds like they just enabled the last three reels for Halloween..

That's an interesting thought. The rules could be exactly the same, but if the scoring was different it would make you focus more on different things in each game, which would definitely give them a more unique feel.

Scores in that Halloween screenshot are 11, 10, 9 and 6 digits, which looks to me like a display test, making sure all different size scores render properly. That said, even the possibility of a 10+ bil score is enticing. I know it's irrational but more score is just more fun to me.
Would be surprising if they strayed from the family guy / Shrek approach to rules and presentation. But there have already been a bunch of surprises, so you never know.
Quoted from RETROCENGO:Respect to Spooky Pinball, my first impression of Ultraman:
That’s the beauty of this. If you’re in to Halloween. Perfect. If you’re not… perhaps Ultraman tickles your fancy. The whole reason they are using 2 themes is to try to maximize the R&D mileage on one pin. The reason there will be more than double the Halloween’s made is because they expect that title to resonate more with pinheads.
I had to google Ultraman. I still think it’s cool but Halloween is the one for me too.
And that’s ok.

The left half is worrying me
This whole multiple hedges thing
Quoted from TheLaw:The left half is worrying me
Looks like;
3 Locks - 3 Targets and an Orbit (maybe).
That's enough to shoot at, for sure.

Seems like a whole lot of area for 3 lock shots

Let's not forget the FIVE Super Famicom SD Great Battle games that had Ultraman teamed up with Gundam and Karen Rider.
