BSE here as well. This game will have a ton of support from the mod community to replace the missing sculpts (and add new ones) and that Scooby launch button.

That said the CE is gorgeous.

#1452 1 year ago

This one is really calling to me. I was going back and forth wondering if I should sell my JJP GnR as I was getting bored with it. Scooby may just convince me to do so.

Hey guys! Here is something we can share without any extra marketing approval hoops to jump through! I think this will give a really good sense of the speed and flow of the game. Check out Zach Meny's podcast later to hear us explain alot of the gameplay. We go over something really unique we did by placing a standard body style playfield centered into a widebody. That paired with the video should paint a pretty good picture!

Shoot now everyone is going to want this one! Could tell by the layout this would be a great shooter. Glad I contacted Joe so I don’t have to fight over a spot.

I love the look, and love Spooky.
My only issue is with the visible coil stop under the arch in the middle. Right under the upper playfield flipper. It needs some sort of decal or plastic to hide it. Maybe a bat hanging down from the archway.

As for the Scooby-Doo trailer. Looks great actually. Sure I'm in my 40's and grew up loving Scooby-Doo but as an adult with no kids I'm probably out unless there is a cool adult mode to set the game to.
Any chance of that Spooky??

Do you actually think they would let Spooky put in an adult mode? No fecking chance. Why does there have to be an adult mode for a cartoon that never had it?

Watch some porn and r rated movies then or maybe relive awesome memories of watching Scooby when we were kids. Geeze

It already does. Since those videos, they added a drawbridge plastic over the ramp entrance.

Do not watch this video! I want a low numbered CE so I get it sooner. Watch the video a few hours after preorders start. Haha

Lol me too man…

#1458 1 year ago

It’s not there fault. The license holder won’t let them so calm down FFS

And I get that. Just saying, the stream/reveal time frame difference isn't anything new.

No one is saying that.

From post #569 think they addressed it.

Will spooky charge tax and/or shipping if bought through their site?

I know most distributor follow their tax laws (makes sense) but I’ve seen a big mix of shipping being paid and not paid.

Also what is opinion on who will ship out first, spooky orders or distributor orders?

Curious thoughts on pros/cons

#1463 1 year ago
Quoted from PanzerKraken:

Have you seen what the playfield on the standard Halloween looks like compared to the CE? It's pretty huge difference visually. Gameplay is identical but it really loses alot of oomph

As a matter of fact, no I haven't. Halloween isn't listed on IPDB, nor does the Pinside page for the Standard have any pics, Spooky's website only has cab pics zoomed out, and in the owners club quickly going through the gallery looks like a ton of BSE/CE's. I don't know if I've seen a Standard or where one would go to see pics of the Standard's PF.

Does this one have the 70s cartoons, synced with the voices, sounds, etc. from the 70s cartoons?

Or is this Willy Wonka

#1466 1 year ago

Thanks for the video. After reading someone's explanation it makes more sense now, licensing for the game and licensing for "marketing" are different things, which is also why the video doesn't include the screen or audio clips that belong to the original IP - those need separate approval.

Anyway, it looks good so far and I hope we get something with real audio and the display included soon. Seeing the ball move is a good step, but it would also be nice to see how different shots are integrated with the modes and multi balls. ie - shooting a ramp is good, shooting a ramp and hearing Shaggy say "Jackpot! Now shoot the left orbit for Super!" or Velma saying "Clue collected, the next clue is on the center ramp" gives us more feedback on how the game operates.

Cheers!

Blood sucker here. I don’t want a topper.

Or artwork or ramps etc.
Funny to think the blood sucker was once their higher end trim model.
Gameplay focused folks win with a standard.

One of the things I called out (all just guesses at this time) is that because it is 5 player, and each player can be a different character from the show, I think each character has the same string of callouts. Meaning -- each one yells "Jackpot!" depending on who the player is, etc. Rather than a specific character calling out a specific thing in every game. I am sure there ARE such things, as well as group stuff, and of course shaggy/scooby characteristic callouts (being scared, etc). But I think the majority of callouts will be identical based on what character you are (in their voice and style of phrasing). Just a guess though.

And maybe variations of other characters saying their lines with the current player/character name inserted. Example if you're playing as Scooby, you'd get a Shaggy call out saying "like shoot the orbit, Scooby" or a tilt warning where Fred yells "careful Scoob!" Stuff like that. Attention to detail goes a long way.

That's just a guess though. 4,000 callout is a lot to work through. That's probably a few hours worth of just voice audio? Then a lot of new music, then whatever sound effects theyre using.

Is Spooky DJ an actual DJ? He'll be an expert at mixing by the end of the project if he's not already.

It really depends on the distributor and the number of sales they make in a particular state.

Spooky tends to do 50 games for spooky customers, then 50 for distributor customers (there are about 8 distributors so that 50 gets divided up by the total number of games they were allocated). So, if you are number 26 on a distributor's list, you might be in the 800 or 900s on the overall spooky list (or you might be much lower or higher).

Get with a distributor if you need assistance (delivery, installation, in-home repairs, trade-in of games, etc). If you don't need any of that, then order direct. Many of the distributors are compiling "interested lists" that should almost guarantee you a game. Playing the "order on the website" game doesn't guarantee you anything.

Wondering if there is anything under the plastic on the right of the shooter lane. Is this just meant to take up some real estate since its a wide body?

We're calling it the "Bravery Meter". When you start a CASE it will act as both a multiplier and pseudo-timer. The higher your bravery the higher your scoring potential. Loose all your bravery and you're frightened off the case. Going forward, this is an example where we intend to differentiate the selectable characters. Shaggy and Scooby will frighten more easily, but can restore bravery with Scooby Snacks.

#1476 1 year ago

Is production going to follow same order as Halloween/ Ultraman? CE first, BS then S... or run in parallel/ semi parallel.
Forgive me if this has already been answered.

Hopefully some of you will calm down already. Spooky really stepped up this time with this reveal. They took charge of it and improved a ton from Halloween’s reveal and we didn’t get some crappy cell phone video of people who never played pinball reveal it.

I still can’t believe it’s happening. When Halloween was announced I was pissed because I wanted SD. I bitched and I was wrong and apologize for that. Was just really disappointed.

I wasn’t a fan of the franchise and never seen the movies. Wife wanted it and we got a CE. We love it and I finally saw the movie in October and I love it even more because the movie scenes make sense now and the story lol.

Really stoked about Scooby and so are my wife and kids. Been a horrible year for my family and this is like waiting for Christmas now with all the joy and excitement we are feeling like when we were kids but more.

For me and my family this is a wonderful blessing. Thank you Spooky for doing this and making a dream come true for my family. We needed this and you delivered.

You have a customer for life. Everyone just enjoy the ride and be grateful for what you have because life can be so hard. I am so glad I got into the hobby in 2019 and with all my wife’s, daughters, and my health problems this is an awesome gift.

Takes very little energy to be kind.
Merry Christmas.

Why wait? Here's a sneak peak for The Ghost of Captain Cutler. Bash the dive helmet, inner orbit, and hand targets to add oxygen to your scuba tank. Dive down to the lower playfield to collect orange clue shots in the Graveyard of Ships. Blue standup targets will replenish a small amount of oxygen. Run out of oxygen and you’ll have to return to the upper playfield to replenish your oxygen supply.

PS: Have to get back to work for a bit. Might check in later.

Hey Guys, Can we get a ballpark on when these will be shipping to customers? Specifically the CE's...And I mean 'ballpark' and not exact sillyness...I was hearing rumors that the these machines won't be shipping for about a YEAR to a Year 1/2, but I hope this is VERY WRONG! This will help on my decision tomorrow morning

So does each character have different scoring characteristics then? (choosing one over another has an impact?)

Same as always! I always hold the first batch a little bit extra just to make sure they are as close to perfect as they can be. I will probably let the first 30 go mid to late January! Then we typically start around 20 a week and work our way up to 40 a week. All complete within 18 months but we always try to beat that time by as many months as possible. Usually lands around 15-16 months to get them all out the door. It all depends where you end up in line. If you are in early you will have it early if you get in late you will be later in the run. Also important to note we build all CE first then BSE next then SE.

#1493 1 year ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

I'm interested in the standard. It's $2,000 cheaper. The cabinet art is a downgrade, but it's fine. Then you're mostly just losing powder coating, a bunch of sculpts, some other little cosmetics, and then the knocker (whatever) and shaker. I can buy the shaker for cheap.
The value is in the standard edition, not the collectors.
Sure would be nice to see a photo of it though. I wonder how it looks without the sculpts and colorful wireforms.

You are basically paying $1000 for a few plastic toys and a topper on the CE over the BS - seems like the sweet spot.

Same mechs on all games though... nice

Thanks for the Captain Cutler rules, sounds awesome! I like it when a mode is more than just "shoot this one shot for extra points".

Looking forward to hearing more about how the characters play differently (I'm imagining something like TMNT?) and I just downloaded the podcast interview to list to that while I'm working today.

Let me just say that I've never bought a Spooky machine before and have only seen one once, they don't seem to turn up in my area. I came into this feeling that you guys are a bit more amateur than better established companies like Stern and JJP and I'd heard all sorts of things about problems with Halloween. If it wasn't Scooby, I wouldn't even be here. But, so far everything you've shown has looked really good. Art is awesome, sound is awesome. Playfield is fairly standard but I don't see anything wrong with it, and now our first glimpse of rules sounds like you're doing a good job making them interesting as well.

I've never preordered a pinball before but I'm getting closer... Looking forward to watching your stream and listening to the podcast interview and then I'm going to have to make some tough decisions and talk it over with my wife.

#1496 1 year ago

So I just became a fang member... how do i know how to pre-order? Will that be an email later? Or just log on tomorrow and there will be a magic button?

Super excited about this pin!

I noticed the center drop making a clutch save. Is this user controlled or was it the game recognizing a ball not making it all the way up the center, and providing a drain save?

There are 9 shots (not counting targets) on the main playfield and 5 on the upper. If you count targets and bash toys as shots this thing is LOADED to the gils with shots.

Yeh ..... they are shots as you shoot the ball to hit them

Neat. I was also wondering if the answer would be both.

Guessing it automatically raises the center drop if it notices the center ramp entrance triggered twice? It's a neat little ball save.
