Spooky's attitude has always been to grow slow and to train up employees vs Stern who has some permanent factory people, but a lot of temp workers being plugged into an assembly line as demand waxes and wanes.
Stern also sets up their line to reflect that by making a lot of work stations and making them all relatively simple. Idk if it's still this way at Spooky, but it sounded like in the past it would be one person building the entire playfield vs Stern where hundreds of people touch the game in one way or another as it moves down the line. (And then separate departments for cabinets, sub-assembly, wire harness making, etc)
It's just a different mindset of running an operation. They do live in a small community and they need happy well trained employees because they can't call a staffing service and have a lot of warm bodies show up like Stern can.
So you'll see growing pains as Spooky staffs up, but theoretically they should all get much better much faster as that is their full time gig.
