Not sure if you guys saw the news but "Things That Go Bump In the Night: The Spooky Pinball Story" is now available to rent/buy on Vimeo for $3.99. In this month's podcast they also mentioned they are working on getting physical copies made and will be available to buy from Pinballlife.

    Here is the link:

    https://vimeo.com/ondemand/spookypinballmovie

I haven't had a chance yet to watch it myself but am anxiously looking forward to it.

    #2 6 years ago

I'm going to buy a physical copy when they are ready , but I may rent it before that also . Thanks for the link.

    #3 6 years ago

I plan on buying a copy too once released.

We really put a lot of effort into this project and hope it does justice to Charlie, KT, and the rest of team Spooky.

Hope you guys enjoy the film.

    #7 6 years ago

Did you watch it to the very very end? I mean the very very very end?

    #13 6 years ago

Wife and I got to see this at Pintastic and loved the movie. And yes, we watched all the way to the end. Can't wait, good stuff coming.

I enjoyed it overall, including Mr. Kelly's interviews, I found no surprises there.
A particular nod to Mr. Heckendorn interviews, and "Bible Adventures" reboot again.
    He always makes things funny.
There is always a need to capture history in this industry, since so much has been already lost prior to the age of the internet.

Nothing wrong with eating homemade macaroni and cheese for months, just like Ramen noodles from college days decades ago.
Sacrifice is part of life's choice for success for any dream including pinball, if you want to do it right.

    #15 6 years ago

Hoping this comes to Amazon streaming or Apple soon. Rather not stream from Vimeo.

    #16 6 years ago

Nice story of the people making the next machine I'm buying (and first NIB). Thanks for sharing.

    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Yep , I saw all the stuff with you at the end. Also noticed Dave Hegge walking in the backgrround when you were talking.

    #18 6 years ago

Just finished watching and what a great story and very cool to see people that are on here.

Stickied to make sure everyone sees this!

I highly recommend this documentary. It's an amazing insight into what it takes to start your own pinball company and I thoroughly enjoyed watching the premiere @ TPF2017. Good to see it's available to view online now. Kudo's to Joel and Dana for all the effort that went into making this.

Indeed don't forget to watch it all the way to the end!

Dana & Joel... thank you. I know we were hesitant to do this at first, but after seeing what you did with all this insanity, I'm glad you talked us into it.

The film is really well done, and even so I think it just scratches the surface on how hard all this is... but I'm glad it exists to help show some reality in that department.

We had no idea what or where we'd become when we started Spooky... our saving grace is we are all doing this for the right reasons. We love pinball, we love we get to do this, we love making games. We never claim to be perfect... nothing in pinball ever is, but we'll keep working as hard as we can to be the best we can be. The next few games are leaps and bounds in that direction.

Stay tuned... we really hope this is just chapter 1 in a long running happy story.

    #21 6 years ago

I really enjoyed the film and I think you guys a fantastic job or portraying the story and how it all unfolded.

I'm also excited to hear Charlie say that they are continuously improving their product (which I think is great at current time). We all KNOW that Bible Adventures is up next after Alice & TNA

    #22 6 years ago
    Quoted from Bryan_Kelly:

Did you watch it to the very very end? I mean the very very very end?

Yeah... who the hell was that guy?! They should do a film on him!

    Seriously, I'd watch that.

    #23 6 years ago
    Quoted from davijc02:

I spoke to Ben about this @ TPF. I was going to convince him how terrible of an idea Bible Adventures really is. For starters, the game can't be discussed on the Pinside forums due to a breach of community rules ("no religion"). And apart from that... The old testament? Really, Ben? Not exactly an up to date theme. It makes WOZ, Rolling Stones and AC/DC seem like hot, trending licenses! Anyways, I failed miserably. It took Ben less than 30 minutes (and a couple of beers) to have me completely excited about this game. I think I even signed the pre-pre-order list

This should be be the front page photo of the article.
    Remains funny.
The story would be longer than many.

Rented the movie last night. Enjoyed the interviews and seeing more of the Spooky pinball story. I do think the movie would have benefited from some narration and some additional background on the pinball industry.

I've heard the guy's a dick. No one wants to watch a movie about a dick.

I've heard the guy's a dick. No one wants to watch a movie about a dick.

Pretty sure wtrching movies about dick is the largest portion of the movie market (adult movies), but I agree with you. People listen to Howard Stern, mainly because he is a dick, people would watch a movie with you in it just for the Howard Stern line "I want to hear what he says next."

Watched the movie again and love Brian's part, but love that guy Gary. What a beautiful town full of supporters. Reminds me of the beautiful small mid western town I grew up in.

Gary (Benton Village President) was great to talk to. Very down to earth guy who just wants good things to happen in his town. The crowd in Texas LOVED every time he appeared on screen. That was really cool to experience.

Just finished watching. What a great production. Aside from the obvious fact that starting any business is hard, it was cool to see how the Village of Benton and the people there supported and helped Spooky get off the ground. If you didn't grow up or if you don't live in a small Midwest community like that, it may not make sense but it definitely resonated with me.

We are all lucky to be around at a time like this to see a company like Spooky come into being. Thanks to everyone involved for capturing this piece of pinball history.

    #34 6 years ago

Did anyone else think about sending a dollar to Benton Village after watching it?

You should put up a pre-order page to get an idea of how many you'll need.

You gotta get away from the whole pre order mentality thing. It's a dvd not a $6000+ machine.

Call it a gauging interest page if you like. The point is get an idea if you should make ten copies or ten thousand before you spend the money to make them.

I rented this and am trying to watch it but it seems vimeo has major issues with bandwidth or something.

Was a very good watch. Love how everything is all local and how the local community helped with everything.

hmmmmmm. Seems to be working OK for me. If the problem persists, I'll send you a code to watch it anytime, even after the rental expires. thanks for your interest in the film.

Is there a chance this will make an appearance on Google Play at some point? I think I'd like to buy it, but don't want to start another video library on another streaming service really :/

    #42 6 years ago

Went ahead, created an account and bought it. Was going to rent it but then figured I would throw a couple bucks to the creators to support new pinball content.

It was nice little documentary, there was a lot of information presented in the hour. I watched with my wife who has never heard of Spooky Pinball and she also thought it was interesting. She wasn't sure why Spooky limited quantities of the machines in particular Rob Zombie when it sold out so fast. She had never heard of the Dominos machine so she was excited when the Noid appeared since she loved him as a kid.

Narratively I had a few small issues with it but overall it was great, we both enjoyed watching it.

    Quoted from Wizcat:

Hi Wizcat. Thanks for your interest in the film. We would really love to be available on all of the streaming services, but so far the large fees that Play, iTunes, Amazon, Netflix and Hulu require just to Submit a film to them has held us back. We financed production of the project 100% on our own, and are trying to be smart about it's distribution. I will definitely let everybody know here if we get added to any other services.

Many thanks to Robin and everyone on Pinside for the overwhelming support we've received so far.
Just proves to you that pinball folks are the best folks out there!

    #44 6 years ago

I saw this at the Texas show and loved it. I purchased a copy to support the effort. This is an enjoyable film. Thumbs up!

    #45 6 years ago

We really want to thank the awesome Straight Down The Middle YouTube show guys (Zach and Greg!) for their enthusiastic review of our film. To say we were thrilled would be an understatement - really appreciate the kind words, guys!

    #46 6 years ago

I'd like to watch this if it becomes available on another service. I tried watching the trailer and the video kept buffering.

I'll gladly pay, but I've no doubt it will be on The Pirate Bay within a few weeks. Special When Lit, Pinball Passion, Ball Saved, and Tilt, the Battle to Save Pinball, are already there, just to name a few. Lots of repair guides too.

Do the producers have a paypal account to make a direct contribution? If so, they should list it here.

Does anyone know if Vimeo allows for local download of a movie rental? I'm jumping on a flight in a few days and would love to rent this documentary to watch while in the air.
