After seeing it and playing it at Pinfest, I decided to pull the trigger.

Quoted from chuckwurt:

Whaaaaat! Unboxing party at your place!

I'm down, it is going to be a little bit though, I'm #407.

#2877 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

did you buy from Pinballstar or direct?

Direct from Spooky.

#2879 5 years ago
Quoted from Whysnow:

cool, so that seems to be the biggest number yet, correct?
407 committed sales. Awesome for team spooky.

You don't have to rub it in , but yeah I do believe that is the case.

#2888 5 years ago

My number was on the invoice, but she also emailed it to me.

#2890 5 years ago

I'm going for the decals, I think they make the playfield pop just a little bit more.

#2892 5 years ago
Quoted from Dallas_Pin:

This has been a great read for today. I may select Alice Cooper over Iron Maiden Premium ... anyone have Kayte's email???

[email protected]

It is very tricky.

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

Watch our FB page this weekend... might be some fun stuff happening with this.
The blue you've seen on the powdercoat was the correct color, it just wasn't applied as nice as we'd like back in March for TPF debut. New equipment, new ... everything! All the powder is going to be done here in Benton going forward. Same with ramps, metals, etc etc etc.
Hang tight folks. Going to be a long haul but we'll get there! Will be plenty of visuals, videos, and updates asap. Doing our best!

Thanks for the update, keep up the good work.

Quoted from greenhornet:

both jack and charlie were on the convention floor at SFGE for three straight days [june 8-10]; jack with his streaming rig, and charlie with a sample ACNC. jack streamed 27 hours of stern games [ACDC, IMDN, MET] over the weekend, but no footage of ACNC. charlie even drops by to play a game of MET with jack on the sunday stream. perhaps stern paid for jacks trip and was he obligated not to stream competitors games, otherwise, why didn't they hook up then?
fingers crossed the upcoming streams meet each and everyones expectations.

I'm about 90% sure they paid for his trip, I think he mentioned it on one of his streams. Also I imagine Spooky would want him to stream a machine that isn't on the show floor so other people have a chance to play it and it isn't crazy loud.

*edit:

Meaning I think Spooky would want him to stream a game that isn't a a show so they can answer questions without having to yell over the crowd, and not be distracted by other things going on around them.

#3307 5 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

Not sure you can have both?

I believe he was answering the question about the cost of mods that are available.

Quoted from greenhornet:

lets see how far I can get with another constructive recommendation before getting trashed.
I don't need to come to benton in order to see 'exactly what is going on' - and neither does anyone else who is unable to make a similar trip. I understand jack danger with be at spooky HQ in two days with his camera rig in tow. what perfect timing for customers/distributors/the industry/the curious. in addition to the gameplay stream, an opportunity presents itself to show everyone 'exactly whats going on' by allowing jack to tour the facility as part of his broadcast. probably 10 minutes to walk through the warehouse/barn and then across the street to see how that is coming together. even if he simply recorded footage to edit later for someone to authorize that would still be better than nothing.
if people are speculating/wondering, its understandable given whats taken/failed to take place going during the past several months. just read most of whysnows recent posts made in spookys defense/behalf to see who is the real boy wonder.
given the number of customers patiently waiting for games, it would go a long way for them to see what could be shown during a factory tour. a surefire way to reduce speculation and wonderment, while helping to further legitimize [apparently whysnow believes stern has done this for spooky recently] the company.
hope and expect bowen to be there. if not, it will be a missed opportunity and big disappointment. having the creator of the rules there to explain them, HUGE. we would also witness arguably one of the greatest players of our time shooting the game. in addition, he has had nearly three months to practice on one of the prototypes. will be interesting to see if mere mortals are allowed to give it a go.

What are you even talking about?

#3479 5 years ago
Quoted from BudManPinFan:

I did notice that, I agree that it looks great!

I don’t think pinball in general is for him. It’s unfortunate he has caused so much unrest in this thread and has people fighting and down voting each other’s posts, he seems to really get off on that. He’s also upset the person who has the most invested in this and is working very hard to bring it to us. He obviously has no respect and no sense of decorum.

Yeah, I rose to take the bait unfortunately... Not my proudest moment.

Back on track, I'm digging the powder coat.

Unfortunately I have to work tomorrow night right during the stream, hopefully I can catch some of it live.

#3550 5 years ago

That magnet ball save is pretty awesome, loving what I'm seeing so far.

Streaming pinball with a good framerate takes good lighting. It is hard to do it, that is why Jack tries to standardize his setup. He even has a tutorial on how to do it.

http://www.deadflip.com/howtostreampinball/

At the top are pictures of his setup, you can see what lights he uses.

Quoted from fantarama:

so, at the DeadFlip broadcast there was a moment that the playfield got darker, like it always looked on other pictures and videos before, and Jack adjusted something on the top and the light/life came back to the art... as shown in the attached picture.
I was pretty confused I have to say... since the begining, because the art looked pretty different, like way more colorful that anything seen before, and you go figure!, at that moment in which the illusion was exposed.
now looking at the iepinball video it becomes apparent again... althought in both videos we can see the wireform shadows in the playfield, but the DeadFlip is bluer.
I really have to ask, did you guys actually used a blue light in the DeadFlip stream?
[quoted image]

#3722 5 years ago
Quoted from fantarama:

thanks for the actual responses about the illumination doubt.
so there was a light, not a blue light, a led white one.
it's funny how I question the difference in light/look of the game and some jump at it calling me delusional or saying it's the different cameras and how can I not realize it, how silly and conspirator I am asking about it... and then the modes and GI explanations. ... even when I specify that at a moment in time this light went off (meaning it was on all the time, no modes) and Jack adjusted something on top of the playfield and the light went on again.
but how I dare to question this sacred game! funny stuff.
among the irrelevant five thousand pictures of Alice Cooper the musician in the gallery of this thread there are some of the game, go check the color hue.

Don't take it to heart man, I feel that others tend to operate on the assumptions that everyone else has the same knowledge as themselves.

I don't mess with cameras much, I am more of an audio guy, but from what little streaming/ recording of pinball that I've tried to do lighting is everything.

DeadFlip mentioned a stream from TheNoTrashCougar place "soon". Not sure when that will happen, but I'm looking forward to it.

#3968 5 years ago
Quoted from DerGoetz:

My exact situation. Had money ready to send in once i saw the art and heard about the really cool rules and ideas..... then I saw the gameplay.

Have you actually played one?

#3978 5 years ago
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

Sincerely... thanks, but you haven't seen where it's going. Nobody "in the wild" really has yet. It has taken a while for the team to learn how to gel together (new talent on board), but we have, and it's paying off daily.

Thanks for the update. I'm patiently waiting for #407. Keep up the good work and try not to get too bogged down in the muck and mire that is this site sometimes.

Thanks to again to Spooky for brining the game to Pincinnati, it was just so nice seeing and playing it. The callouts and music sounded great, the shots are tight, but makeable. I'm excited, if you can play this game, do so.

I am seriously thinking of bailing on this game ! I am number 58 I believe . the wait is simply too long for my taste . at one time I was told august then before the holidays ! any clue on what number they are on now anyone ??

See this quote from Charlie. If you want to bail that is on you, but I would have some faith.

Quoted from SpookyCharlie:

Patience people... yes, we are behind on Alice while we tune up code, assembly, etc etc. We said 18 months to complete the whole run, and we're still on track for that.
We haven't been sitting around, we've been increasing production on TnA to clear them out as quick as possible. We'll be wrapping up all 550 of the initial run of TnA inside of 8 weeks, which means we will be building NOTHING but Alice the day those are finished.
We aren't stopping Alice for this, we are just trickling them out and polishing every damn thing we possibly can so we have the best game possible once they are out there. Still shipping some every week. Example, we TODAY finally got a code assist to protect the motors in the game so that even in the worst case situation, they will shut down and not hurt themselves. We've been on that particular hurdle for 3 years!
The game is getting more attention, code, sounds, effects, etc etc etc every day... it's getting play tested more than any game we've ever done... YOU'RE GOING TO GET A BETTER GAME FOR ALL THIS EFFORT!!!
We just cleared another Alice, and it's going in the car right now to take to Pincinnati tomorrow for the show (big thanks to the customer for letting us use his game!) Come see us, play the game, and say hello!

Quoted from robertmee:

True, Stern has the same problem...but if I'm Charlie my claim to fame should not be I do it like Stern. My own personal conjecture, Spooky lost a little momentum when Ben Heck departed, and it's been catchup ever since. Fawzma is a decent programmer from what I can tell, but RZ was his initiation into pinball so he is not as efficient and perhaps intuitive in pinball coding as those programmers that have been around awhile. And now that he's heavily burdened supporting all of Spooky's offerings I doubt he even has time to train another initiant. Spooky really needs to hire a seasoned p-roc guy or teach bowman to code

I mean they have a seasoned P-Roc guy in Scott Danesi right?

#4705 5 years ago
Quoted from robertmee:

I don't know....do they? What is he working on? I don't mean that facetiously, I honestly don't know.

He is working on his second game Haunted House Party.

Quoted from iceman44:

If the code is still that sparse then I don't care about getting my game for several more months.
I realize that Spooky needs the $1k deposits to fund production but man depending on theme I don't think i would do it again. It's hard to lock yourself in and then get delayed for so long.

What has been delayed? They said they would have the games out in 18 months and it hasn't been that long yet.

Quoted from frankmac:

Sorry that you get downvotes this is a crowd that does not like to hear anything other than positive comments in regards to ACNC.
I know exactly what you are seeing in the vids you would have to be blind or ignorant not to.
ACNC has come along way since it was revealed at Texas pinball festival and Allentown . I for one am very excited to play the pin this year at Texas pinball festival and see how far it has progressed.
There are a lot of shots that hit posts.
Feel free to Voice your honest opinion.
It Does not mean you dislike the game or will not buy it .
3.2.1.Start the down votes against my post-gentleman. And begin! LOL.

Or maybe it is because people get tired of hearing the same thing over and over again. Yes the shots are different on this game, it isn't a Stern fan layout so it is going to feel a lot different. It takes time to get used to. A post about bricked shots comes up about every 3 pages, I know I am tired of hearing about it.

I played it and enjoyed it. It certainly takes some time to start hitting the shots, and even then they aren't easy.

People forming opinions about games based on streams bug me. Yes I know this is a difficult one to find, but if you want to know how it feels you have to go out and play it. That is true for any pinball machine. Streams are great, they have a ton of good information, but at the end of the day that is someone else's opinion on a game. That is my 2 cents.

Spooky Pinball LLC is feeling cold.
29 mins ·
Kayte just talked to R&L Freight... with record cold temps the next 48 hours (60 BELOW ZERO WIND CHILL?!?) games will be held until next Monday to keep the drivers out of harms way. We are leaving all the non-Benton minions home tomorrow to keep them safe as well. Public schools, colleges, public services, businesses, most everything is shutting down. This is a bit crazy... even for Wisconsin! Our apologies to the people who are waiting. We'll keep your games safe and warm!

Makes sense, stay safe up there.

They also lost a few days with the super cold weather. I'm sure that didn't help get games made or shipped.

Awesome news, the lady friend and I will make it down asap. It looks like it is in TMNTs spot.

Quoted from dnaman:

Have you seen it in person? If money wasn't a concern, would you opt for the blue?

Spooky brought one with blue trim to Pincinnati last year, I had already ordered one with the blue trim and I decided it was totally worth it.

Hell I can't even remember if I'm 349 or 394 but I'm up there. And not goin anywhere. In this for the long haul,...and happy to be here.
I am curious as to how you lower your flippers slightly, as I've never worked on flippers before. Is it fairly simple (I hope)?

I've never owned a Spooky, but it looks like it is one lock nut to loosen, then adjust and re-tighten.
