Quoted from Whysnow:I get the impression thatit is getting close to sell out? CHarlie seems very hush on it and actually wants to not hype so more people will get the opportunity yo play before game is totally sold out.
Can someone please help me understand this? Why does it matter to Charlie or anyone else for that matter that others get to see it and have an opportunity to experience it to possibly buy it?
It is a limited run. Those that are pinheads are well aware of it and have either jumped in or have decided to pass.
They can keep bringing it around and showing it off for both enjoyment and to prove to the world how they are evolving and what they are capable of. This alone sets the bar that they have to work from and challenges them with their next title. Compare RZ with ACNC, looks to support my thought on that.
Now, show it off, keep developing code and let's get this beautiful pin under production!
Quoted from StylesBitchly:Here is another from MGC..
Thank you for sharing! Not sure about the picture quality to demonstrate the PC Blue. How does it look in person and does it match the art overall? The coindoor looks out of place and the speaker grills look off to me but maybe it is the picture. I think that we need to add something to that speaker panel
Quoted from Medisinyl:Thank you. That may be the best comparison shot yet of the armor and butter cab. Butter cab makes the standard cab look dull (still can't justify the cost difference for me, but a nice option for someone that has more disposable funds). Though I'm more confidant in the silver vein choice on this one from this photo.
Yes and the coindoor doesn't stand out the same as on the blue. Hmm... We've selected the big titties edition, all current options but I will certainly need to see more pictures of the blue. If we opt for the blue, can we get the colour code to take it a bit further ourselves at some point in the future?
Quoted from StylesBitchly:But man, I wish I was there!
I hear you. I was hoping to go to AA but it is sold out. Had to delay due to work and find out now that the weekend is now open. Drats!
Quoted from DerGoetz:Yes, please!!!! I want to purchase one real bad - this tweak would push me over
Let's see as this is almost sold out I would imagine. What real interest might there be to change much of anything at that point. I did think the very same about AC's voice in the very early and very short sample that I heard. I am certainly not expecting them to all be like that.
Wow, just listened to the callouts. Definitely not happy about them. I have added about 6 pinsounds to various pins in my collection, spending hours and hours going through movies and ripping what I can, might be very spoiled now. I hope that there are enough lines and samples to address the repetitiveness of two games that I just listened to. The near monotone is the bigger issue to be certain however.
I didn't quote the post about a bunch more content and post process coming so that you for sharing that Fawzma! I realize that post-process can only do so much with reverb and other effects but can't create excitement in Alice's voice. With all due respect will there be an option to turn down or mute that audio? (I apologize as that is quite rude I realize )
Regarding the blue, someone had said that this was a quick sample for the show but I will easily be dropping to the hammered silver/grey if it doesn't look far better than in the video. The coin door is still just plain Jane and sticks out on that edition. [I know, I'm a bit of a broken record]
This all said, it is a killer theme of a pin and a home run for Spooky and Team!
Quoted from StylesBitchly:Damn flippers are still too weak? WTF!
Hopefully they ring in on this. We need snappy flippers!
Quoted from Magicchiz:You are not kidding. Went with a friend and picked up a TNA in person at Spooky headquarters.
Charlie, Kayte, and Fawzma were so nice and giving of their time. Got to see the Vampire mode. All I can say is it fucking amazing what everybody has put together. Including Zornow, and David Van Es. The comic book style and animations are incredible.
Dont be fooled or let down but this early code.
With fawzma and Bowen polishing the rules. When complete this will be a out of this world game.
Magicchiz
Glad to hear it and love that you keep this thread up with posts and pics!
I have been waiting excitedly waiting for pinfest to come and go. Not being able to attend I've been wanting to see and hear all things ACNC and JJPOTC. I am quite surprised, there is just not much being said/shared on either. I hope that the 500 count for ACNC has been slurped up and production can now press forward without having to wait for another show to, show it off.
Quoted from jellikit:Who is going to do it? Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle in a butter cabinet?
Brad
We are in on the 'Big titties, buttery edition'. (I love titties btw, essentially we want it all on this pin)...
Now that being said, I have selected the blue hardware but the last pics that I saw from Texas were not impressive at all and the coin door just negatively contrasts it in plain ol' black. It was said that the blue at the show was just a 'quick' job but unless it is 'titties' I'll drop to the grey powder coat or consider anything else that they might have. We would opt in for a matching coin door though, whatever is selected (if available).
Looking it over now, even the same two tone hammertone powder coat as the habitrails with matching coin door would be nice. If there would be a grey blue, grey green hammertone, that matches the cabinet that would be even better!
I do think that powder coat is likely more durable that base coat clear although I do love me some BCC, it just chips easily.
Thanks, I didn't know what it was called.
I see one that is 1080x1057 so far. I'll look again when on a PC so that I see more than on my phoned.
Quoted from KISS73:I got an email from Kayte today. Production on Alice Cooper started this week.
If that is true then I would like to know more about the powder coat or all hardware finish options as I'm #48 and need to decide ASAP.
I'm not sold on the blue at the moment. Does anyone if there is a better sample now? Is it in fact powder coat or basecoat/clear? What are our PC options, can they do a Hammered powder coat?
I will try Kayte again but last time she said that she didn't want to share her opinion on the finish, I think it was because she liked them all but that doesn't help me at the moment. I want a killer look that is durable. A matching coin door would complete it for me
~d
#1 boxed and shipped, congratulations Team Spooky!
Super excited to see this title come our way
When time allows, can you share good quality pictures of all the options available? I would love to see these so that we can firm up on our choices prior to build (#48).
Thanks in advance!
Quoted from Damonator:It's the same price either way. The main advantage to buying from a distributor is that they may be able to get you a game earlier than if you order from Spooky directly (because they placed a large order on day 1).
I would not have had such a fantastic spot (#48) if I hadn't bought from Tommy at Nitro (CDN). Thanks Tommy!
Is Bowen going to continue to help out now that it is official that he is joining Team Deeproot? Is his contribution here limited to helping lay down rules mostly?
Quoted from FalconPunch:This made me laugh
Bowden and Bowen
2 different people. Steve Bowden and Bowen Kerins.
Both great players, but 2 different people!
DOH! I read through the 'TWIP' article on DR this weekend and saw the name which, as you point out is quite similar, what's the likelihood? I guess that I should have looked it up prior to posting.
Well that's good to know and I'm happy to hear that there is nothing changing on that end then
Update: Old pic (2008) but I do see both now:
https://www.pinballnews.com/shows/allentown2008/15.jpg
Quoted from nikpinball:That is game #1 there's some bugs but it's hella fun.
RnR Hall of Fame?
Yes, I think that is the one in the picture above, it is there now it appears. Very cool now let's see some HQ video and audio action
I was trying to follow the last couple of show threads and everyone seems to suggest that power is a problem which can directly impact coil strength. Why would you want that to be one of the first live streams? Everyone would be bitching about it and Charlie would have to ignore it or try to respond and address all of the posts. I also expect that the code, sound and display art/video is only now being heavily worked on, likely due to ensuring that the pin was physically ready to bring to theses shows to play them. Charlie has now committed to bringing Jack in to live stream, this will come and I am excited to see it and see it done properly!
Now, for argument's sake let's say that GH is accurate in his preaching of all things 'rounded post'. I believe in free speech and I do believe that this will absolutely impact play as that is what happens when you hit a rubber post. If the playfield is full of them then guess what? If the shots are tight, then this will only amplify that 'problem'. He is not making this up and giving actual examples if fine with me. Honestly, my bigger concern with posts are what can happen to the PF wood with endless bashing of them. I am hopeful that this is not an issue, over time.
We are still in for ACNC regardless and only time will tell what play will be like. GH has his opinion on a number of things and the post concern is a valid concern and it MAY have been an oversight in design. As Charlie said, there is no changing that now. Replacing posts with targets is a big job after the fact. I just don't know how much this will affect sales on a limited run. If you only have one or two pins in your collection then this one may not be for you. On the other hand the challenge might be exactly what you want.
Once we have the owner's club thread then we can ask that non owners stay out, until then I believe that this is the place to post and share thoughts and opinion.
Quoted from dnapac:Monster mirrors (mirror blades) $85
Has anyone ever thought of or actually routed out the top insides of a cabinet by maybe 1/8" to allow for mirror blades to sit into the cabinet as opposed to sticking out and having the likelihood of getting scratched up? New builds would be perfect for this.
Quoted from Jousley:I also remember reading something about a possible option for an even higher quality screen.... I wonder if that would be the case. Also, id love the option for Invisiglass shipped with the game.
ACNC should Shipp with an IPS out of the box. Maybe they can offer an even better quality display but it shouldn't ship with a mediocre display.
Wow, synchronized with the JJPOTC build? Co-inky-dink, completely!
This is great to see.
I don't recall this question being asked but do we know if edge and hole protectors will be factory installed or if we need to buy Cliffies?
If we need to purchase, does anyone know if there are some in the works?
This pin looks killer!
We're not great players so the tight shots will be quite tough, I will be increasing the ball save time haha!
My question for those in the know would be, how well will the PF (wood) hold up to serious bashing of the posts over time? Specifically the posts which aren't holding up an upper PF for instance.
I have old games where the post bashing has opened up the post hole etc...
Looking for honest feedback.
Just playing BSD and I find that the RT orbit and two ramps are tight. These shots are at least 2/3 the way up on the PF so tight but not impossible and still provides some room to try to control the ball with the brick shots. BSD is also standard body so how comparable are the tights shots to ACNC would you think?
15330342028691641841881 (resized).jpgI completely understand the desire to not post the whole stream.
Let them have a second take and try to make it as they had hoped. It would be cool if it can be turned around sooner than later for those who missed it.
Thank you Charlie for not only sticking this out, building pins that is, but for coming into the thread and just taking ownership of pulling the video and sharing how you felt. This is a seriously tough audience. Most of us can only imagine what that was like for you but you owned it! That is one of the biggest differences between Spooky and Stern. JJP's Team is also putting themselves out there (and in here), much respect to all of you. Shit happens, it is how you deal with it that matters.
We can't wait for our ACNC!
Quoted from ArcadeVideo:I'm definitely keeping my spot in line (#49) for an ACNC.
Our #48 and your #49, NITRO purchase I assume.
Looks like Tommy committed very early on, presumably at the show. Very happy that he got behind Spooky on this!
Quoted from FawzmaGames:it will be spookified.
I found that the spinning reel animation was too fast for my liking, just a blur but I am not at all concerned about the software and art, all of this will evolve beautifully with everyone committed to the title.
Ecstatic to see you actively participating in the thread; both listening and sharing. Killer talent!
Quoted from FawzmaGames:Funny thing about the blur, I kept asking for more till I got to where it is. Maybe it could be a user setting?? j/k
I've been monitoring the entire time, just staying out of the drama
That would certainly be cool, I will follow your lead on all things visual!
Yes the drama is strong with the dark side... Don't let it deter you.
Quoted from ArcadeVideo:Yes, a Nitro order - I sent Tommy an email the very first day these bad boys hit the market, and he confirmed it within an hour or so. Tommy's my hero!
Absolutely, ours too!
Quoted from iepinball:I'll be streaming the ACNC launch party @ AYCE Gogi tomorrow (Saturday) and hope to go live by 6pm PDT. twitch.tv/iepinball
[quoted image]
Which ACNC do you have (#, options etc...) and when did you receive it?
Drop the tilt bomb a bit if it's too sensitive. It is ok to adjust the pin.
For those who don't think its for them, just find another pin, no biggie.
I had asked questions about the blue powder coat as well as the upgrade options quite some time ago. Nothing ever came of those unfortunately.
With these starting to ship, is it possible to see quality pictures of everything that is available please? I am still curious to know and see more about the blue hardware.
Thanks in advance.
Quoted from rubberducks:All have been different. ACNC is Zornow Must Die.
Zornow Must Be Destroyed! (?)
Quoted from rubberducks:Thanks for the correction.
TBH, I was interested in checking out his artwork after reading your post so I started searching for him.
Quoted from Magicchiz:Well at least Spooky didn't just slap a bobble head in the Alice Cooper pinball. Like someone we all know.
Magicchiz
[quoted image]
Somebody, place it on an ACNC and post it as the first 'Topper'
Quoted from pickleric:Only so many dollars for pins
My comment is a bit out of context from your full post but;
You would think so but have you see the quantity of IMDN pins that have sold and are still selling? How many of these buyers are now also going to be getting DP? Likely a $hit load. Then they will buy and keep, buy and sell for the next title. Seems to be no shortage of cash out here.
Quoted from Damonator:So production looks like it’s spinning up!
Thank you for the update.
It seems like I have been waiting on this and POTC for an eternity, with the recent weeks being the most 'painful'. Just trickling of info...
Quoted from trilogybeer:Seems as though the speaker kits can have powder coat to match the trim powder you choose .
Coin door in matching PC would be cool, IMO.
I've been asking for info on the hardware PC options, including the blue... zero pics for the purpose of displaying this, zero feedback to date, and they are starting to ship. BIZARRE!
Quoted from rubberducks:I'd also like the door done, and a 'hammered' blue most of all.
Amen! Hammered blue or the two tone hammered PC that I've seen, blues, greens etc... a bunch of options.
trilogybeer That is both fair and reasonable regarding the coin door. I still would love to have it match but that's fine.
Can we get some nice, clear factory pictures of the two PC option for comparison?
Also, I had suggested that it would be nice to see pictures of all options. Is this not reasonable? Especially with buyers needing to decide in short order?
Quoted from RebelGuitars:I went with the Scary Blue, but I think Silver Vein looks nice too. I have it on my AMH.
[quoted image][quoted image]
Awesome! Best picture that I have seen to date for the blue. It looks like it is uniform now. That puts my mind at ease. The silver vein does look nice as well and is hammered...
Thank you Charlie!
Having Matt match the blue would be essential.
Regarding ACNC, will we need any metal protectors? Will some be included? Will we need to work with Cliff on anything?
Thanks in advance.
Quoted from SpookyCharlie:I don't think so... but again, the old adage, steel ball beats wood. Cliffy is a damn fine guy who makes damn fine product, that much I am sure of.
Thanks Charlie. Just wanted to know if there was anything that came to mind for you so that is good enough for now.
Quoted from 2Kaulitz:Yeah i love the art work best yet for spooky if money/space was no object i would still keep my order. But so many new pins coming out.
Now, it sounds like you might be buying many of these new pins coming out. Or are you suggesting that there is just so much to choose from?
If you are buying many, then maybe funds are not a challenge and you need to look at building an addition or just relocating
Disappointed to see you go, congrats on whatever you are picking up.
Quoted from 2Kaulitz:I'm saying there so much to choose from now.
So, much to choose from.... It's SPOOKY!
I watched the episode as well. Doesn't phase us but I understand where he is coming from, his choice of course.
I asked KT for a ballpark on #48 and she said a couple of months so I think that 250 is a good while away. I hope that someone trades you closer.
Quoted from GuiitarMan:...but I already drive 2 hours twice a week to play any pinball at all so I don't mind waiting for my first pin
Dedication! If I were closer, I'd happily open my doors to you to get more pin time in.
Glad to hear that you are in on this and that it's your first.
Got the call today for balance of payment at #48. I assume that ours goes on the line shortly!
We will be playing this B e e o c h before Halloween
I can already smell the buttery popcorn, um I mean buttery cab right now!
Quoted from bemmett:#39 - Non butter here but no request to take my money yet.
Wonder if they are doing a run of the butter games first? I'm just going to grease my cab up with some I Can't Believe It's Not Butter for $2.99, it will shine!
Oh, come on now... why spend $2.99 when you can spend $999!!?
I was surprised to hear that none of the butter cabs had been started and now we have to wait for that. This could have been something that was prepaid, non-refundable and started a while back.
Unfortunately this only further delays ours at #48 and we are fully paid now.
Just impatient is all...
Quoted from ArcadeVideo:I went with the "I can't believe you didn't get butter" cabinet, so hopefully there's no delay on that. Looks like the Scary Blue powder coat hardware is on the production line too. I feel like Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin to show up for Halloween.
After reading about the delay on these, we almost changed it to unbuttered popcorn, but we've waited this long...
I want to watch the special now! Checking YT now...
Quoted from BladeFury:Way to be on top of this before it stirred some kind of drama! tho I'm interested in how these will be fit into production or will they be before any Spooky sold machines?
Certainly no drama from me. My Gold or Platinum comment was in jest. I couldn't care less about editions, quantity or any of the like. We are buying an ACNC and have selected the options that are preferred. I am just waiting for it
Quoted from rubberducks:Curious to see what they'll come up with. Might give the rest of us some customisation ideas.
The editions are well detailed right on his page. They essentially are a selection of the options with additional signatured items and a bronze, silver or Gold type medallion. Some money is going towards his charity. It can only be positive for all involved, a great offering IMO.
Quoted from BladeFury:No no wasn't saying you just a broad statement how some like to just run with it and make something out of nothing!
No worries, I just had put myself in a situation in the POTC Updates thread that was not what was intended and I provided an apology for how that turned out.
Quoted from tp:Does anyone know the last # out the door at this Time?
I'm not sure if the # will be accurate as it appears that buttered cabs, possibly other options, will delay some.
@Crile1, people are impatient (me included) and easily distracted. The bright lights, loud sounds of casinos and Vegas come to mind.
In 2018, with all of the choices out here for pinball, both old and brand spankin' new, there is no shortage of options. This hobby requires a good amount of coin and if you have enough to spend on a NIB pin, you most likely can pick anything out here.
I think that buyer's remorse also plays into this hobby. In paying either too much for an old pin or too much for a NIB, there are consequences. Too much for an old pin and you lose when you sell. Buying a NIB pin, unless it is a low count or sought-after pin, you certainly will not get all of your money out of it. ACNC is low count but unproven at the moment, it is a gamble for some but that all depends on your reason for purchase. Ours is not with the intention or expectation of resale. I think that is a fool's game.
I would not want the hassle of dealing with a customer base like that. That said, we are in for this title, paid up and waiting. The same with POTC and both are like watching grass grow at this point.
A bit of communication or even a weekly update would be greatly appreciated
Quoted from Silkenone:Occasionally markymark2400 seems to need to reassure himself that he did the right thing in selling his spot.
Unfortunately the way he does it is by seeking negativity in here.
Mark, relax, you DID make the right decision. For you.
And, in buying your spot, I made the right decision, for me.
Everyone’s a winner, baby.
No doubt, now move along Mark. Thank you.
Quoted from lodgingdolphin:Hopefully some of these are ACNCs.
ACNCs with extra butter, please!
@spookycharlie, great update, this is what I have been waiting for!
Of course you are right on point with all of your comments regarding how people can treat each other and how some dog pins but I am here for the updates so thank you.
Quoted from lodgingdolphin:I've got a much lower number and I'm not convinced I'll have it before Thanksgiving. I thought we would be seeing some more unboxing videos by now.
Agreed. #48 and final payment was sent but no word yet. Now this has the buttered cab, so that takes time but not sure if they ran some ahead or not. Hurry up and wait
Quoted from frankmac:Elwin’s Maiden is a masterpiece.
Mark Incitti's The Nightmare Before Christmas, now that's a masterpiece! Not so sure about IMDN, personally speaking
Quoted from frankmac:Played NBC at TPF needs a lot of polish! But has good bones!
It is very cool. What amazes me is that Mark has really done just about everything himself. A few have pitched in with things here and there but the design, coding and build all in his home here in London, ON. I think that we'll be seeing more of it
Ok, back to Spooky and Team and this beauty, now on deck!
"Apparently, allegedly, rumored" etc...
An honest and open update would be wonderful and would put all of this to rest.
Quoted from SpookyKT:This is the blue powder coat that will be sent out. I know people had been asking for better pic of it.
[quoted image]
Thanks KT! I have been one of those asking for pics, especially of the Blue PC. Happy to have selected it.
Quoted from SpookyKT:All depends on what your game number is... ...if your not in the first 2 batches...
KT, are these batches of 25? Would those include #1-50 or are these different numbers?
No change for us, just interested in where we're at. Thanks!
Quoted from jellikit:While every ACNC might not come buttered, will they all come with a bucket of chicken?
Brad[quoted image]
RZ does. Maybe we can order just the mini bucket to drop into ACNC.
5 (resized).jpgQuoted from Tilt:Well maybe you can shut up now, I got the email to pay mine in full that its ready to go
To be fair, paying in full does not mean that the pin is ready to ship.
That's awesome! We got the call a while back, paid balance but no word on where it is in production. I was told that buttered cab is a separate run but that was it.
Aside from maybe someone being taken advantage of (a la Popadiuk and similar fiascos), there is nothing about pinball that I would have hatred for.
Holy $hit, now that's butter! Happy as heck that we picked the upgrade. This pin will rock and it is a work of art.
Thanks Charlie and KT. Please keep the pics coming!
P.S. if you could share a pic of the printing (mid print) of the butter cab that would be cool.
Quoted from BudManPinFan:So how did you manage to get the legs powder coated blue, but the side rails and lock down bar silver?
I was wondering the same. It's a partial upgrade!
Quoted from ArcadeVideo:Maybe it's the "Frankenstein" paint job.
That's it! Maybe have a chromed leg in the mix
Seriously looking forward to play this title, hopefully we see our roll in soon enough.
Quoted from StylesBitchly:I just requested that the lighted eye speaker grills with matching powder coat (standard as in picture above) be added to the build list for an additional $95.00
We ordered all options available at the time including the speaker light kit $95 and the Scary Blue Powder for $125.
I hope that this means that the speaker grills are matching.
Sweet! I just expected that they did. Happy to hear that it is.
A matching coin door would have been awesome but Charlie spoke to the complexity due to them already being finished.
Quoted from RebelGuitars:It may have the largest cabinet speaker I’ve ever seen in a game.
Beautiful! Nice Spooky collection.
The PC blue looks nice in the picture, is your speaker grill blue as well? Did you get the buttered cab?
Can you also keep an eye out for possible Clifty suggestions? It would be nice to protect what we can if there is something of concern.
Here is a pic of a custom speaker and display panel that I created for my BF. It's huge! Still have to rework a translite for it though. (The top cycles stills from the movie)
IMG_20180225_2159394 (resized).jpgQuoted from RebelGuitars:My ACNC arrived yesterday. I have it dialed in pretty well, the orbits are fast and the ramps are smooth. Upper pf is really fun with more going on than I noticed at two past shows.
With some of the bad press that others have tried to spread on this pin, what are your thoughts regarding shots and flow? From first game to present?
Quoted from NightMutilator:Gonna be doing all sortsa crazy videos alongside horrorhouse fest with this here awesome pinball do-dad called Alice Cooper's Nightmare Castle ..
[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
When are you starting and do you have anything more to share?
Quoted from Billy16:Getting a straight answer on production has been elusive, to say the least.
I was told yesterday that buttered cabs are 'scheduled to run in a couple weeks' but who knows... Between this and JJP POTC, it has seriously been the most difficult time I have ever had spending this amount of money!
@RebelGuitars
Yes, as KT has mentioned, we bought through a Canadian Distributor and have paid in full with the Distributor. He passed along the 'starting in a couple of weeks' update.
I'm not upset, just disappointed, to be clear. This is a $13,000 game after upgrades and currency conversion. We are supporting a great small company and would just like to receive updates, even a quick weekly update like above would be AWESOME!
Quoted from dnapac:I kinda wonder if they are secretive on numbers because sometimes they aren’t linear (butter cabs, distros who order more than one, etc). Pinsiders would be losing their minds if they felt their numbers were skipped over. Spooky will make good. I have watched them from the beginning and they are good people, that put the customer first...just be patient.
I completely agree that they are great people with a commitment to this hobby. This could a concern but would easily be addressed through updates (transparency). KT said that Buttered cabs were a separate run for instance, I had no idea when we ordered this upgrade that this was the case. Why was it not communicated that it would be a separate run and would only start after production was well underway? I've mentioned in a previous thread, if this is an option that requires a non-refundable payment, to have it started earlier, then request it. I would have had no problem pre-paying for it to have been started weeks ago. As I've mentioned before, no where has it been mentioned that they would not start the production of buttered cabs until commitment was made and would further delay production.
Why not simply communicate this information from the start? They know what is being currently produced, number wise and what the reason is behind it. Send out a Friday afternoon update and BAM! done.
Again, I have to say that this market is unlike any other. The manufacturers have opened their doors, starting with the their show/expo reveals and we are in, some all-in right from day one. All that most of us would like are updates. Not evasive, read between the line type of responses but actual updates on where they/we are at.
Just watch what happens at expo over the next few days. Company 'X' comes out with pin 'Y' and are looking to the community for interest and commitment, hoping that many will purchase. That is great but in 2018 we are now almost instantly connected and are asking to be part of the build/ship process. Please realize that I/we are not trying to be disrespectful here, just wanting to know where we are at. We've committed and don't think that it is too much to ask. Take your time, get things right, and let us know where you are at with production. Issues arise and we will all get through it. Everyone wins in the end.
Thank you once again, Spooky Team, we are forever grateful for your contribution to this wonderful hobby!
No need for a meltdown. You completely misread my previous posts apparently.
There was no initial indication or communication as to what to expect for butter cabs for instance. Communication to state that these cabs are not readied in advance, in any quantity, and have to be made, cured etc... and that this doesn't start until X date, and would eventually be run in separate batches would be all be useful information. Doesn't sound unreasonable when this is a $1000USD option.
I had also asked on a number of occasions if it would be possible to show what the options looked like prior to selecting them for our pin. I was specifically interested in the blue PC and if it was possible to see a nice picture with proper lighting. Nothing...
This is clearly a, I say white and you say black type of situation so let's just agree to disagree.
Quoted from FlipperFreak:I met with Charlie tonight at Expo and they are working around the clock to get the games produced as quickly as possible. If you’ve paid Nitro in advance, and want a refund ...let us know. We have a long list of buyers for Spooky games ....and will be more than happy to refund.
No refund wanted here either, very pleased with purchase through Nitro and have stated so, a few times. The 'paid in full' has never been a concern and only a point of reference to show commitment, we're not turning back now. The thread has gone too far in that direction for some reason.
Buyers are excited and we have waded through months of the bullshit negative posts of a few trolls regarding ACNC and even directed at Spooky for some reason, just disgusting.
Personally, I have had sent a few emails to KT and have posted some questions here, the desire has simply been to find out more about production, upgrade details, etc... Most realize that the distributor has limited information and with Charlie and KT being present in this thread, this is a great place to share thoughts/suggestions and request (sometimes beg for) updates. Up until recently there has just been a lack of detail provided/shared and a few of us are discussing that here. IE: what do the upgrade options look like? Most would agree that it is odd to try to pick an option or one VS another when you can't visualize it. Unfortunately feathers are getting ruffled and it sounds like some are thinking that accusations are being made, the most recent being prepayment, not the case. I can only speak for me but I am sure that many would agree; ACNC looks killer!, Spooky is evolving beautifully as a boutique pin manufacturer and I couldn't be happier with Nitro as a distributor, pleased to support you!
Now, back to watching the thread for updates (including Expo) and details from current and new owners.
Quoted from Pinstein:Saw a copy of "Schools Out" on ebay and I thought it was funny that this original LP came with school girl panties. (That look more like granny panties)
[quoted image]
Well, that depends...
Any updates from owners about which cliffies to install? Those pics above have a clean shooter lane but could use some protection and of course on the lane switches with drops, IMO. What else?
@djnoel30 I am not at all worried about any of that.
The pin seems solid and has a ton going for it. They can and will evolve the software. They seem to have a great, dedicated crew at this point. This is the beauty of a boutique shop in my opinion. The big guy cranks pins out to make the sale and everyone hopes that they eventually update the code and that may or may not happen. That is why I think JJP pins are worth owning; killer pins, bang for the buck and the programmers remain committed. Of course some will complain about Hobbit but that too has evolved. They are still listening to the community at this point. Who knows what will happen as they have a dozen or more titles out but at present they and Spooky are the perfect size.
Excitedly awaiting ACNC!
Quoted from calprog:My machine #9 with every option ships Monday. I’ll post a ton of pics and video for you.
This sounds like the butter cab line is underway, that is great news. Hopefully others will post details as they hear.
Quoted from rubberducks:I think it'll be a bit later than that once you factor in the ~150 TNAs they have left to do, plus Xmas / New Year holidays.
plus the separate run of buttered cabs... separate but together
Quoted from Pinstein:I think its unflattering videos like the one above that's makes people want to sell their preorder. I cant hear the music or callouts and there are so many bricked shots.
Personally I couldn't give a rats ass about what anyone else thinks about it. I hope that it sells well for Spooky and that less people decide to sell off but that is completely beyond my control. I'm just waiting out word at this point so that can spend as little time as possible in this thread.
Quoted from FlipperFreak:Getting ready for deliveries!
[quoted image]
Yeah baby!!!
Any official updates on production status, both standard and buttered runs?
Trying to book some holidays, it would be helpful to know if we are 'close' or 'way off'.
Quoted from RebelGuitars:Why don't you just call or email them?
Sounds logical but when I have tried in the past (had a few questions, emails and posts) I have not been given any appreciable detail. It also seemed like I was being a pain in the ass. Not a nice feeling to have when spending $13K (yes that's Canadian but $1 is still $1 no matter where you live).
Not interested in 'starting' anything just curious to know where we are in the queue and have an approximate ETA so that it isn't sitting in a cold warehouse, if I can help it. Sad that I have anxiety about asking a fairly straight forward question. I won't likely be jumping in so early on pins in the future.
Quoted from megalo17:Can we just realize that Spooky isn't Stern already?! Spooky is a mom and pop boutique pinball manufacturer... Family owned and operated. Small company in a small town. If you didn't know you were in for a wait then you should've done your homework. They're making games at a pace they are comfortable with. Would you rather they buy a huge manufacturing facility with millions in parts, and follow the path of Heighway? I'd rather buy something unique from a company I can trust with my deposit, and one I know that has fantastic, prompt customer service. Rant over.
I'm sorry, who are you? Stern, Heighway, don't get it, I have no idea what you're ranting about. It is precisely the small businesses that are nimble, typically approachable, and responsive. I like the title and what we have seen in the game so we have chosen to buy and in turn are supporting a mom and pop shop.
You say that I should have done my homework, on what exactly? I am not rushing anyone. I have simply asked if anyone had heard as to where production queues were at, I even said why. That said, you seem to be defending Spooky, which is not warranted based on my inquiry.
Maybe you can go back and do your homework on me and my posts in this thread, and review my emails, before spewing your nonrelevant, useless anecdotes.
However, since you've opened that door, you also speak of fantastic, prompt customer service. Are you referring to pre or post sales? Someone asked why I don't just ask them about the queue directly. I have reached out a few times or have posted with different questions and as mentioned, the responses, contained little substance or it seemed like I was an annoyance. Exactly how is that fantastic, prompt customer service? And that is for a committed customer, product is sold.
I couldn't care less if we are 64 days out, it isn't rocket science, but there certainly are a lot of people here that get all up in arms about someone asking questions FFS. So quite frankly, you can stick your rant.
Quoted from megalo17:I'm the guy who just took ten minutes of your life that you're never getting back! Take a deep breath... It's pinball ffs.
Couldn't have said it better.
...it likely took 20 to put that together and the whole 'stick it' thing was uncalled for; (deep breath taken)
SpookyKT contacted me about a half hour ago. It was kind of her and appreciated on a holiday weekend! [Thanks again!]
Quoted from mof:After watching you guys troll frankmac into having to defend himself -- I think the very relevant and fair question to ask is:
Where does Charlie want people to leave honest feedback (of...all...types...) about Spooky pins here on Pinside? If not in this thread, then where...
-mof
This is that thread, and in this case largely pre-sales and committed sales. As a committed buyer, I've shared thoughts and opinion and have received some support and of course the negative and what I believe to be, the unnecessary goings on and on in full-defense-mode. I remain now mostly a viewer in this thread
I agree that the Club thread is for those that own the pin and share within that thread. That can also be positive or negative but it should be from owners.
Quoted from robertmee:Spooky really needs to hire a seasoned p-roc guy or teach bowman to code
Bowen Kerins, not Kevin Bowman
Quoted from rubberducks:It's beginning to look a bit better, but remains pretty early IMO.
...
That seems bizarre.
Stand by what I said before about it being another 3-6 months until we get an indication of how good it's really likely to be. Though I suppose it's possible that the bulk of underlying work has been done, and rules and assets will speedily get implemented now.
I've said it before but my biggest concern with a limited run, especially once sold out, is a question of continued software development. What ultimately will continue to drive the updates? The main assumption is that we see a ver 1.0 (complete rules and functionality). That is to also assume that Spooky will want to see that through to show that this limited run was 'finished'.
Beyond this, what benefit is there to evolve the code, to listen to input and add additional features and functionality? Once the sales have been made and pins shipped, TNA gets back in production and is their 'forever' title which will likely see continued evolution.
Ultimately only Spooky can say but for discussion sake, where is RZ at, in a similar sense, code wise? I can't speak to this as I don't own one. Is everyone happy with it? What about the previous limited titles, are they 'complete', and with misc bug fixes resolved. I can only think that with a growing list of limited titles, this will be increasingly difficult to manage.
I expect that ACNC will be killer but I couldn't care less about it being limited and as above, that might actually be limiting in more ways than the serial#.
Quoted from jgentry:RZ literally just got a code update. AMH has fantastic code.
Beautiful! Happy to hear this.
Beautiful! Happy to see that we will get some relevant updates. Really looking forward to getting this beast and all of the monsters within.
Quoted from Jodester:Same here. May get ACNC before MBrLE...
Quoted from DJNOEL30:I tried the only answer I got was that we are definitely getting our games within the 18 months timeframe.. I am waiting both on ACNC and MBrLE and I’m losing my god damn mind!
You both have a beautiful pair of pins coming!
For me, I enjoy being a apart of the process and seeing the progress, even if it's a slow process. I continually look forward to seeing pictures and seeing others receive their pins and sharing their experience.
This has been disappointing and I dare say anything as I risk having some pinsiders lose their mind.
Quoted from Jodester:Thanks Magicchiz !!
TNA production should stop soon so that our games can roll out.
Yes, I too was under the impression that the switch was made already. I guess not.
Quoted from jesselee72:I don't post much, but I did think I should check in finally and report that I got my game couple of weeks ago! Been having a heck of a lot of fun with it! Quite anxious for the next code update. It's definitely come a long way.
[quoted image]
Looks like a great room!
What options did you order?
@SpookyKT, not sure who in the queue has their pin ready to ship but yes keep safe and keep warm, Team Spooky!
Quoted from Ilushka85:I am still waiting for 35 and if someone wants to jump the line and grab mine pm me.
I am not looking to change but am curious, is it a standard build or do you have upgrades? That will be important to know if someone is looking to take your spot.
We're at #48 but we have all of the upgrades, including the buttered cab, no idea as to what that will mean for place in queue so just waiting.
Quoted from Billy16:Someone must be getting one--they are really cranking them out now--right?
I assume that the list of those that can answer that question are only a select few and they aren't saying anything.
Still odd to me that we need to speculate on any of this.
Meanwhile, impatiently waiting for word...
@lancestorm, I've already been down that road. Thinking that I have good advice/suggestions, coming from a customer's perspective.
You have to remember, they are building pins from scratch (and some ready made parts). Not easy stuff, takes talent, brains and a lot of sweat equity. They're making the shows, talking to people, taking emails and answering questions. They also now have a few titles under their belts, there must be a logical reason why they haven't done some of the things that pinsiders are suggesting.
Quoted from hank527:I'm #28 and I was told maybe next week so I assume 6 per week maybe and those in the 30s are less than 2 weeks away.
Possibly up to 10 per week when the weather isn't a factor.
Quoted from hank527:Paid today and I'm #24. My guess is I'll have it next week.
Any word on yours?
Quoted from Gryszzz:Some things in life you don't want to be rushed. Your pinball machine is one of those things.
Agreed, but in the context of the last two comments, I am on side with that as well. This title shows that even with a limited run of 500, there is zero rush or reason to get in at or around a reveal, or even for many months afterward. Take your time, think things through, pick up another game or two and if/when the time is right, come back and pick one up.
Quoted from pballjunkie:#25 has arrived here at Comics2games. This game is amazing. If you are in the area just south of cincy in florence, Ky, stop on by and play it.
[quoted image]
Beautiful pin!
The powder option here looks solid, can someone ring in as to what they think of the blue hardware?
My mind keeps going back to the early pics which seemed blotchy or something. There seemed to be a reasonable explanation for that but I can't shake it, don't want to regret opting for it either.
Quoted from lancestorm:I keep going back and forth. The blue looks better to my eyes, but is it $125 better? That’s a tough decision.
Have you seen it in person? If money wasn't a concern, would you opt for the blue?
Quoted from Crile1:It is so hard knowing you are close to getting the call. But because of butter cabs and other machines getting built out of order, don't know if will be this month, or the next, or...
Yeah, I've said this before but I'd like to know the approach to butter cabs. If it were me, on the butter I would charge 100% upfront and have that as a non refundable deposit as well. Then I'd get these made so that they can cure nicely.
I was disappointed to just find out that after having everything paid, months ago, that our cab is only now being made and is a couple/few weeks from being ready, this adds another 3+ weeks to the build. Disappointed that this wasn't printed and curing some time ago.
Quoted from lancestorm:Why the obsession with a unboxing video? What does it aid?
This is the only thing that we have at this point, excitedly waiting to hear from others that things are trickling in.
Oh well, wait we will.
Quoted from RustyLizard:It says so right on the box.
See, and I assumed that the point was that the unboxing video for that (if that's the Jurassic Park NIB or similar) was 30 years-ish in the making. As in, it could be a long wait for some to unbox.
That said, I over think everything.
... or do I?
Quoted from BladeFury:Well somethings not adding up as I was told 1/11/19 that the butter cabinets were there and curing and it was just a matter of getting them in the line up!
Agreed.
I picture the new batch coming in, getting built and the tight shipping wrap leaving a 'bad first impression'.
Quoted from kermit24:What number are they on here? Even if they are only doing 6 per week they should have like 70 out the door by now.
Anyway, excited to flip this at TPF to see the new code.
There was quite a stretch of crazy weather there which delayed production.
Quite happy to not have had to go through that bad spell over here.
Quoted from bemmett:I'm 39
The number is somewhat helpful but which options did you purchase, if you don't mind me asking?
@bemmett, curious is all. We are getting close as well (#48), but it is will the options including butter so that has caused delays as well.
You're right on with the hardware colour, I thought that they only had scary blue but some of the photos seem to also have a purple.
Quoted from kettchxxii:#56 Picked up Yesterday. They had 25 machines in various stages on the line. It's going to be rapid fire from here on out from the looks of it.
Going to get the Speaker Lights, Shaker, and Knocker installed this weekend, then it is off to the races!
Should be out by Wednesday for our Craft Beer Pinball League night at The Blue Moon hosted by Lagunitas! First Beer Free for our Pinballers!
[quoted image]
Beautiful indeed! I assume that this is not a butter cab is that correct?
Quoted from Crile1:So Kaneda ACTUALLY played ACNC at TPF and...said it was incredible. Maybe now that he has finally played it himself he will stop dogging it constantly on his podcast. He owes Spooky (all of them) a HUGE apology. Of course, it won't happen. Good job Spooky, if you can win over your biggest critic, you know you have a hell of a game on your hands.
Man, I had to wade through Kaneda related posts over in the POTC club thread. He apparently played some poorly set up and operated POTC, this comes to light from other Pinside members, and takes great pleasure in shitting on it. Any respectable pin critic worth his salt, would be aware of these things and speak to them. He clearly just sounds like a idgit.
I am surprised that this bozo gets any thread time in these club threads. WHO CARES WHAT HE THINKS?
Quoted from scasey:#22 Butter arrived today.
Very cool! This is great to see as it also appears to be the same 'full upgrade' edition as ours.
In that first pic where he's set up, those backboxes seem way too close for my liking.
Just heard that our #48 (full UPs) is being play-tested, just waiting for Charlie's once over before boxing it up! Boy have we been waiting for these days.
For those concerned of this lower# still being on the bench, it is largely the buttered cab that has delayed this. As you can see in the thread, that they have shipped higher numbered ACNCs.
Quoted from dannylite:I was happy to have a couple weeks to dig through the couches for some more money.
46 pins!
Quoted from foureyedcharlie:If you knew what he did for a living, you'd really call him that! He is beyond pumped for Alice #18... biggest Alice fan I know and I can't wait to beat on his game.
ok, now you've piqued my curiosity. Do tell!
Quoted from Magicchiz:ACNC #18 Butter, pickup this weekend!
Magicchiz
Looking forward to this!
Quoted from Magicchiz:Here is number 18 being unwrapped. Before anyone goes crazy. I had my coin door shipped to Matt at back alley. He has the color code. Then it was shipped to Spooky like 6 months ago. So no the blue coin door is not stock, and Not available thru Spooky.
Sorry Matt you might get slammed now. It really looks good.
Thanks again go out to Spooky Pinball for everything.
The sound is great.
More to come
Magicchiz
~ So happy for you to have finally received this!
I'd like to know what the colour (color) code is so that I could have this locally. Curious is this will be shared or if it is expected to be a 'secret', I hope not.
Quoted from tbutler6:Knocker alive and well. Replay and Match.
Yes sir, snappy and loud!
