Has anyone seen any ACNC video from Pinfest posted somewhere online?

#2900 5 years ago

Got my number today: #49. I'll just sit here and wait...won't be long!

I watched a good hour of the stream last night, and I'm definitely keeping my spot in line (#49) for an ACNC. The game looks like a lot of fun to play, and all the elements have come together brilliantly. With only 500 of these being made, my guess is that ACNC will be a sought-after pin in the used market.

Based on the video stream, I'm impressed with:

1. The music! I've been an Alice Cooper fan for 30 years, and I had fun listening to his tunes as the folks played this game last night. You could tell they also enjoyed the music - singing and dancing to it as they played. I also like that specific songs go with the different monster modes. It means that the songs aren't just there as background music, like other rock n roll pins. This gives each mode its own unique feel. It was fun to watch them visit each monster mode in the stream - can't wait to explore them myself!
2. The art - it's universally agreed the art and animations are amazing, so no further explanation is needed. This is a gorgeous pin. Good job on the blue powder coat too - I'm getting that paint job!
3. The percieved difficulty - I think that's a selling feature! ACNC was supposed to be my first every pinball game, but I wound up buying a Bram Stoker's Dracula in the meantime. BSD is one of those games that I sucked at playing, whenever I put money into it at a bar or arcade. But getting a chance to play it on free play changed the whole game for me. I love it that it's a difficult game, and it constantly kicks my ass. But it's also super rewarding, when you find your groove, making those tight ramp shots consistently and get everything working in sync. It doesn't get old, and I have a feeling ACNC will provide a similar experience.
4. It just looks like a blast to play! That's why we're all involved in this crazy hobby to begin with, right??

A question for Charlie and Bowen RE: the skill shot slot machine, since it was mentioned that it's still in the prototype phase...Is there a way to make it seem less like a Vegas-style slot machine, and more "nightmarish" or "spooky?" I think it's a cool idea that the skill shots change up randomly, and you can risk points on making the skill shots. However, I felt that the slot machine presentation doesn't fit well with the game's theme and tone. Maybe get the creatures involved in this aspect of the game too? You can never have too many monsters, spiders, bats or snakes in a pin, just sayin'.

it will be spookified.

Awesome, I can't wait to see what you guys do with it!

Our #48 and your #49, NITRO purchase I assume.
Looks like Tommy committed very early on, presumably at the show. Very happy that he got behind Spooky on this!

Yes, a Nitro order - I sent Tommy an email the very first day these bad boys hit the market, and he confirmed it within an hour or so. Tommy's my hero!

I was surprised to hear that none of the butter cabs had been started and now we have to wait for that. This could have been something that was prepaid, non-refundable and started a while back.
Unfortunately this only further delays ours at #48 and we are fully paid now.
Just impatient is all...

I went with the "I can't believe you didn't get butter" cabinet, so hopefully there's no delay on that. Looks like the Scary Blue powder coat hardware is on the production line too. I feel like Linus waiting for the Great Pumpkin to show up for Halloween.

I spend my saved money form no smart phone on more pinball machines.
I spend $27 per month on a basic unlimited talk/txt plan.
That probably saves at least $30 per month. Add on the cost of the phone (which I am sure I would lose or break 1x per year) and we are talking another pinball machine for the sacrifice of no smart phone. Bonus : I am not connected to people in imagination world anymore than I am already

I'm guessing your next pin isn't going to be "Dialed In?"

I was wondering the same. It's a partial upgrade!

Maybe it's the "Frankenstein" paint job.

He means C$.
Though that is still nearly $10k.

I also ordered through the same Canadian distributor. My total was $9,000 CDN, including shipping. I did not get the butter cabinet, but did order all the other options.

I met with Charlie tonight at Expo and they are working around the clock to get the games produced as quickly as possible. If you’ve paid Nitro in advance, and want a refund ...let us know. We have a long list of buyers for Spooky games ....and will be more than happy to refund.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm not interested in a refund. I only posted what I paid as a service to clarify for people in the forum how much the machine costs in Canadian funds.

I understand why the wait is longer than expected, and KT gave me an estimated time of delivery. If I had any complaints about Nitro I'd call you in person - you've been very upfront and prompt with service throughout the whole purchase process. I recommend Nitro to all Canadians!

Happy Halloween! Since I'm up late, bored, and there's not a lot of action happening in the forum lately, I want to share something spooky with some folks who might appreciate it. This is one of my favorite reviews on Pinside, from member "twinankhs," for the Centaur pin:

"This is my #11. Slightly unfair rating.I had a very creepy paranormal experience with the unit I played, it was possessed by a murder victim who was killed in front of that particular machine. (According to my Girlfriend who had nightmares about the game) The Spirit came home and creeped me out. We had to use sage and Florida water to get rid of it. Nothing to do with the game, but this game's symbols are runic, and latin and all sorts of dead languages which make this thing a reliquary. I Broke the machine by accident apparently releasing the spirit of the person who died in front of it. It is very enticing music and creepy sound effects. Reminds me of something out of hellraiser or bad porn (Heavy Metal) from the 70's artwork. One of the best game play games though...very straight forward. Do not have arguments in front of this...it is designed to store negative energy...by accident???????? Played it the next day -- NO issues, both in person and on PS4 Pinball Arcade. The most paranormal pinball game."

I hope you all sleep well tonight! MwaHAHAHAHA!

Centaur has it all! Wheels, Legs, and Wings! Steampunk before Steampunk was a thing.

Because Judas Priest album covers and the the Centaur artwork are such kindred spirits, when I finally get my own Centaur pin, I want to replace the sound board and program it so it plays "You've Got Another Thing Coming" by Judas Priest when the 4-ball multi ball starts.

Quoted from benheck:

Voice acting should be directed. Sometimes you get lucky just handing someone a script (RZ) other times... Not so much.
Alice should be playing a character, the evil mad scientist Lord of a castle (as depicted on the art) Instead he sounds like Nights with Alice Cooper.
The time spent trying to spruce it up greatly exceeds the 1 day and $750 it would have cost to fly someone out to supervise.

I've seen interviews with Alice, on YouTube, where he talks about working with producer Bob Ezrin. He said that Bob names Alice's vocal range as different characters (child-like Alice, sinister Alice, etc) so he can get performances that suit different styles of songs. It sounds like most of us would love to hear more of the Sinister Alice on this pin - similar to the intros he performs for Feed My Frankenstein or Black Widow, perhaps? Or even the style of performance he gives in his live shows.

Being a total pro, I'm guessing that Alice gave the game creators several different performances to choose from. It's been said that they had a couple hundred callouts for Alice to read for the game. I've only heard a few of them in the videos posted online, so it's possible that he did record many callouts in the sinister style, and I've just not heard them. Or perhaps it was decided by the creative team to not use the sinister sounding callouts in the end, even if they were recorded.

As a huge Alice Cooper fan, I'd be very interested to read a story about the callout recording process from someone at Spooky, if they have some time to share with us.

That's awesome...I'm looking forward to seeing an ACNC pull up to my house soon

I'm in for the blue too. The low upgrade cost is a good value.

Quoted from bkerins:

The collecting of items is not part of the game, for now.

I hope they bring in the weapons in future updates...I'm guessing they would work similar to the weapons in Monster Bash? It would be so awesome if the weapons were based on references to additional Alice Cooper songs, and we could hear those songs when the weapons are used (Poison, anyone?).

Quoted from Code_Blue:

There is so much to love about this game but unfortunately so far it is a LOCATION DUD!
Even the cheap-o Sterns haven't crapped out on me as much during their first week on the floor as Alice Cooper has.
Stuck balls literally every 20-40 minutes. Balls dropping down into the cabinet body! Ball lock diverter coming completely off. No great way to re-position ball-lock diverter properly.
And when the game goes into ball search, it can't tell that the ball is on the ball lock switches if the ball got there erroneously (even though the switches work fine) so when Frankenstein is raised all the way up during the search the balls fall into the cabinet.
I'm really hoping this thing can be salvaged with a bunch of mods because there is so much cool stuff about the table.

I had the same issue with balls dropping into the cabinet, under the Frankenstein toy. It happens when Frank is too high in the "load" or "bottom" position. You should be able to adjust it in the servo settings. I had to actually replace Frank's servo motor though, because it was faulty. Every since I changed the motor and dialled in the proper position, there have been zero ball losses.

The Frank switches, however, are indeed worth modding. The solution will be to design the Frank toy to have switches where the locked balls are resting on the toy, instead of where they are now - just behind the toy. This is why everyone is complaining about ball searches - there's no way for the machine to know that Frankenstein balls are locked if the balls aren't in contact with a switch when they're loaded into the toy.
