Ditto on the ?

Editions? huh!

What would we call an ACNC with all options, Gold or Platinum?

#3903 5 years ago

To be clear... that website is Alice's charity group (and 1 other partner charity). Not Spooky. They have 50 games to work with.... same group that gave an ACNC game to the winner of the Phoenix tourney last fall at Cooper'stown.

#3904 5 years ago

Charlie love the little differences in their charity games.
Although still proud to support you and your business with my purchase, direct from you.
Hope to hear from you guys, soon.

Way to be on top of this before it stirred some kind of drama! tho I'm interested in how these will be fit into production or will they be before any Spooky sold machines?

#3906 5 years ago

It is kind of suspect that they only mention that a "portion" of the proceeds go to charity. Who knows if it's $1000 or 10 cents.

Pretty sure spooky gets paid their normal price. Then the Charity gets the rest.

I heard thru the grapevine that they would be made in small batches throughout the production run.
It appears to me that with three options offered by the charity. In a way they are custom made per order from the Charity. Which would make the made to order small batches thru the run make sense. The web site says they are shipping from Benton.

We know... or we wouldn't work with them.

Curious to see what they'll come up with. Might give the rest of us some customisation ideas.

Certainly no drama from me. My Gold or Platinum comment was in jest. I couldn't care less about editions, quantity or any of the like. We are buying an ACNC and have selected the options that are preferred. I am just waiting for it

The editions are well detailed right on his page. They essentially are a selection of the options with additional signatured items and a bronze, silver or Gold type medallion. Some money is going towards his charity. It can only be positive for all involved, a great offering IMO.

No no wasn't saying you just a broad statement how some like to just run with it and make something out of nothing!

No worries, I just had put myself in a situation in the POTC Updates thread that was not what was intended and I provided an apology for how that turned out.

you were not wrong. the lack of communication from manufacturers failing to keep waiting buyers up to date is a problem. your post below could very well be addressing several different manufacturers at this time.

Quoted from dnaman:

Communication.
I'm not asking for a committed delivery date, just would like to see how they are progressing. Are they on schedule?
We have been part of the process since the reveal. Many of us have been here for the long haul, many tune into the live stream (or watch afterwards), many have deposits or have paid in full. There have been ups and downs and they have come through beautifully. I assume that there are no major changes and software will continue to evolve, although it is close to complete now (rule wise), so it really is now just about 'when can I get mine?'
You can't compare present day pinball manufacturing to any other time in the past. We are connected and communication is not too much to ask for.

Does anyone know the last # out the door at this Time?

#3925 5 years ago

I will have my Alice Cooper in Rob Anthony's repair room at Pinball Expo. It will be set on $1 a game, with 100% of the coin drop going to one of two charities of Spooky Pinballs choice. Being one of two charity's: In Team Gordon's name for Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund (Bryan Kellys grandson) Or to the Taro Legacy Fund to help provide service dogs for those that cant afford the training needed. Come play dollar games on it and lets raise some monies for good causes.

I'm not sure if the # will be accurate as it appears that buttered cabs, possibly other options, will delay some.

#3929 5 years ago

Wow, it's getting hard to keep looking past the spots going up for sale. Something about this game makes me want to pull the trigger. There is no way I would be able to play one before I tried it, though. But that AyceGogi stream really looked good. Can't wait to see some unboxing and home vids posted to see how people are digging it.

#3930 5 years ago

@Crile1, people are impatient (me included) and easily distracted. The bright lights, loud sounds of casinos and Vegas come to mind.

In 2018, with all of the choices out here for pinball, both old and brand spankin' new, there is no shortage of options. This hobby requires a good amount of coin and if you have enough to spend on a NIB pin, you most likely can pick anything out here.

I think that buyer's remorse also plays into this hobby. In paying either too much for an old pin or too much for a NIB, there are consequences. Too much for an old pin and you lose when you sell. Buying a NIB pin, unless it is a low count or sought-after pin, you certainly will not get all of your money out of it. ACNC is low count but unproven at the moment, it is a gamble for some but that all depends on your reason for purchase. Ours is not with the intention or expectation of resale. I think that is a fool's game.

I would not want the hassle of dealing with a customer base like that. That said, we are in for this title, paid up and waiting. The same with POTC and both are like watching grass grow at this point.

A bit of communication or even a weekly update would be greatly appreciated

#3931 5 years ago

Not so sure Spooky would need to keep pinside threads updated.

Maybe an email would probably prove to be informative from the Spooky team.

I have my pin #66 up for sale to a new buyer if one comes around.

A video of the game play would be helpful and I thought it was going to be 2 week from the dead_flip one that was pulled.

A good video could keep me in line for sure!!

#3932 5 years ago

From what I heard, they have quite a few built or in the stages of being built, but they're being held for fixes before they go out.

Hopefully the spinner and other things are done by now, so I assume it's probably software they're waiting on.

I wishI had the time and ability to stream.

If anyone does and wants to do so on the game we have out on route then just PM me to work out a time.

I think this game is a sleeper right now. Not many have really gotten games on it, but once you do put some time in, you can see what is to come (its is good!).
It is neat to me also that I am starting to get a sense of what charlie's style really is as a designer and I see lots of good things that I like. he is a fan of lateral movement, he likes using shots with surprise returns, and he likes difficult shots at first that will feel really natural after some time, and he like pat lawlor and steve ritchie (i.e. some time for story telling but some shots that are so damn brutally fast and in your flowing face that you stay on your toes). These things are all a bit foreign to what you know from so many 1 dimensional feeling games. Trust me, give the game some time and play it in a good setting. Muscle through the first 5 games by yourself (at first I did not like the feel of many shots) and you will find all the shots, get used to the forced lateral movement/ need to recover, and start to discover the code that is underlying the game.

I think people often talk about great combinations of designers and coders and I see ACNC as a potential great (code is still young, but is has the under pinning of all coming together as something really cool).

I have tried to describe it as "it feels like game X" but there is no real good single corollary. The orbits feel like TNA (but hidden sight line in the middle), the subway use feels like pat lawlor, the lateral chaos feels like 80s treadeu (i.e. tx sector), the ramps are butter smooth like gomez, the toys are well designs and the theme really pulls is all together.

I highly suggest finding a way to get some time on the game for yourself and decide if you want in. We have one for route and I have to be honest that I am thinking about one for myself (route games rarely stick around forever, but I am going to want to be able to play this one for years to come)

I am sure acnc will be worth the wait.

So many great pins out and in the pipeline it makes I difficult to do so.

I picked up a Sw,Iron Maiden and a Deadpool pro in the meantime to hold me over.

Potc,Munsters, MBR, and Acnc all have my attention at this point and only time will tell. Glad you have your game.

Whysnow have someone do a mobile phone video? That would be great. Let’s see it in the wild!

This is the (apparent?) Spooky model and it seems to work very well. They build multiple prototypes for in house testing. They then get to production and the first wave goes out to those taking them to shows/ putting them on route. Then things pause on the line (games still being built but nothing goes out) while feedback comes in from a variety of location types with tweaks/adjustments/ stuck balls/ improvements/ etc...

Spooky makes adjustments and then games go out at a quicker pace.

This is good for everyone in my opinion.

It allows Spooky to get some real world and real time feedback (no matter how much you test on prototypes you need route data from multiple operators)
It allows operators to get first games which help bring in people to play and makes it possible to buy new games
It allows lots of players to get some real world play time on early run games before the production run is sold out
It allows what are minor things to an operator (but big deals to non-tech home buyer market) to get tweaked before the droves of games start rolling out = a better final game to everyone.

I understand the dilemma. So many choices in 2018. I had my spot up for sale but decided to keep it (after lots of anguishing -- man there isn't much out there re: ACNC to base a decision on)...Iron Maiden and Dialed In are calling to me but there is just *something* about this game...and I've had a TNA for 2 months and it just gets better and better by the day...

Ok, let's say that is all true, then why not more transparency instead of all the secrecy? This pin had been expected to ship in numbers since early summer.

Quoted from Billy16:

I wouldn't use the term secrecy. Information has been slow to flow from Spooky about this title. I think they are working to make this title a real winner. As soon as these things start shipping in number, I think there will be a lot of demand for this title.

I really do wish Charlie would give those that preordered regular (?) updates on the title...

#3941 5 years ago

So, they want to get it right before major release...where-as Stern gets sh!t for releasing without good enough code. Pinside is a fickle b!tch. Spooky has my full confidence. They are a family run pinball company who cares about their product.

#3942 5 years ago

I will happily wait a year but I might have to delete this cryass thread.

#3943 5 years ago

Dick, can you use "cryass" in a sentence?
Of course I can Jane.

#3944 5 years ago

DeadFlip mentioned a stream from TheNoTrashCougar place "soon". Not sure when that will happen, but I'm looking forward to it.

#3948 5 years ago

Occasionally markymark2400 seems to need to reassure himself that he did the right thing in selling his spot.
Unfortunately the way he does it is by seeking negativity in here.

Mark, relax, you DID make the right decision. For you.

And, in buying your spot, I made the right decision, for me.

Everyone’s a winner, baby.

That pretty much sums up this thread to this point. A few people freaking out about every opinion/comment/video that gets posted and second guessing themselves. It’s frustrating for those of us that are really excited about this game to put up with the negative comments/innuendo from these people. I’m in this for the long haul and waiting for the day mine shows up. Alice Cooper rocks...Spooky Pinball rocks...peace out!
