Well I had the lucky opportunity to stand right next to Bowen for about an hour playing ACNC yesterday with my wife and friends..
I think the lighting is just fine... and I don't like dark playfields.. the main issue was the reflection from the large circular chandelier lights right above the pf..
The game is fun and got a basic understanding of the game.. the animations and coding are all ready very mature..
play field art/colors/comic book style animations are awesome..
Some shots feel tight at first.. but really they get better quickly.. this isn't a game you just bang the ball around.. concentrate a little more on grabbing/aiming/shooting for what you want to hit next..
There are LOTS of shots.. even the upper flay field has a ton to do.. I usually hate upper pf's.. but on this game they're great!.. lock a ball, hit the guillotine shot.. shoot the vampire..
You can steal other players locked balls on this game.. cool!
Spoke with the animator.. most assets are in place on game but they still have a few additions/fine tune ups to still show up..
Stick with the butter cabs!
Anyone thinking of selling/getting inpatient with getting their game... I say wait and take delivery!.. Kate and Charlie said they're quickly getting up to 20-25 games per week on average.. I'm number 178 so that means about late June delivery (counting the almost 50 done).. I'll wait!

Love the risk/reward on the wizard mode.

Can't think of another game where you can take say 300 million or keep playing on to try to get billion!

#5253 5 years ago

Martymainframe thanks for the early stream today. bkerins had a clinic on that game with his 700 mil score...ON BALL 1!!!! Was good fun seeing you, TheNoTrashCougar and SpookyCharlie

Makes me want to buy up a spot...

#5254 5 years ago
Quoted from gliebig:

No. Evening. I should go when it's less crowded so I can hear it.

We just had the room to ourselves for Sunday lunch. Got another half dozen games on it...this one is a winner as far as I'm concerned.

There are a few. Jackbot’s Casino Run is probably the origin of this concept, but there’s also something similar with Metallica’s Crank It Up, for example.

Quoted from Damonator:

Wow - the Bowen presentation was the mic drop moment for ACNC.
I was in on the game when it was revealed based on the art, layout and theme - but now with Bowen and Fawzma’s hard work over the last year, it’s really turned into a gem. Thank you guys for making this game so special!

Totally agree. Bowen's stream also made me completely confident in the direction that Spooky is going in. Hearing Bowen talk about the thought going into the code was a revelation. I just really loved what they are doing to d make the game more interesting over the long haul. Bowen's such a great spokesperson for the company too.

I'll say this about Spooky, they've made a lot of great decision about who to bring into the fold. Ben Heck was a great choice to get a company off the ground -- a brilliant dude (hope he finds his way back into pinball). Then Danesi and Bowen? Just awesome.

#5257 5 years ago

I love it. I've played 4 games at TPF now, and each game I've progressively seen more of the game and modes. My first game I missed basically every shot, but now I can mostly hit where I want and control the ball. Looking forward to getting this game when mine ships later this year. Shout-outs to all the fine folks at Spooky!

#5258 5 years ago

Last year TNA this year ACNC.
Bowen Kerins Is fun to watch.
TPF “19”

#5259 5 years ago

Give Bowen a Rob Zombie and let him work some magic with that game!

#5260 5 years ago
Quoted from JustEverett:

I'm hoping it's worth the wait...I am definitely going to be ready by the time mine comes. But I still say it's a good thing they are taking their time with the builds and updating code. By the time we all end up with ours they should be primo.

Agreed. I think they will have any/all bugs worked out by the time I get mine. I'm#411 and don't mind waiting.

Hey Jeremy! I'm #343, so you can come over and play mine before you get yours if you get tired of waiting. Lol.

#5262 5 years ago

413 here. Butter and all options. I can’t wait, but I can. This is gonna be an epic game!

#5263 5 years ago

I played this a few times at TPF. Bowen was basically camping at the Spooky booth all weekend helping players understand what they are doing with the game. That was really cool. It’s come a long way. Sure no one is happy with the super slow pace these first few games are shipping, but sounds like they are ramping quickly. I think the game is really taking shape and can’t wait to play it again.

#5264 5 years ago

Update:
After about 80 games now, I can’t believe how great this game turned out.

Somebody was asking about the call outs, and I have to say that I like the way they’re done. They’re very subtle and go so well with the theme of this pin.

The monster modes are very immersive and incredibly well thought out. The animation work is so well done that sometimes I drain a ball watching.

I’m an average at best player and the shots were the way I’d like a pin to shoot. Challenging and smooth.

I’ve owned every Spooky game so far and this one has serious staying power!

I thought there was a magnet that saves the ball between the flippers. I dont think I have seen that yet integrated into the game. How is that activated?

Quoted from marksf123:

Yes it has a magnet save , completing the lower in/outlanes activates it . Once you've collected the 4 lanes the 2 outlanes light up purple and the magnet will save your ball if drained through either outlane . It throws the ball back into play after it holds it for a little while .

It actually happened once during Bowen's presentation. VERY cool how it works!

https://m.twitch.tv/videos/400129332

At 2:51:20 he lights it, at 2:51:55 the ball save happens.

Complete "save" on the inlanes and the outlanes flash purple for a period of time giving you the magna-save between the flippers. I think I heard Bowen say it was turned off since it was set to competition mode. Its a great feature similar to TNA but you don't have to change the one flashing to the appropriate outlane before the drain. Both are lit. Crutial for extending play and a must if you plan on beating all 9 monsties.

#5269 5 years ago

I really enjoyed playing this at TPF. I played it last year and my initial thoughts then were "meh". But this year I got more time on it and I think this one could turn out to be a great game once finished.

#5270 5 years ago

I got that magna save a twice in 3games last week. Didn't even know how I activated it, but it's really cool.

#5271 5 years ago

Was there a second Bowen steam at TPF, besides the seminar one? If so, is there a link?

#5273 5 years ago

Didn't know about this one, thanks for posting.

#5274 5 years ago

New Kman podcast after TPF now up and giving a ton of love to ACNC. He and guest Blake Dumesnil played it at TPF and each gave it two big thumbs up.
It's a good episode for a TPF recap but you can fast forward to the 46:00 minute mark if you want to get straight to the Spooky and ACNC thoughts.

#22 Butter arrived today. I feel sorry for the folks that got out of their position. The game is beautiful and plays awesome out of the box. Also, fantastic job on the packaging, miles ahead of previous Spooky games.

#225 here. Kayte at Spooky has been awesome every time I've asked for any type of update on my game. In the past month I've emailed her to have the lighted speakers option added onto my build sheet and today she verified I can have the shaker installed and that they'll handle it all in shop, no need to order the piece and send it to them.
I'm a long way away from getting mine and I'm totally cool with it. Spooky keep doing your thing and making great games. RZ was a load of fun while I had one in my house. Always looking forward to what's next......maybe Halloween/Michael Myers or Friday the 13th/Jason???.....please start this rumor!!!!!

That looks like the game I'll be getting! Just beautiful!
Did you get the shaker and knocker installed too?
Spooky lets me make payments. My game is almost paid in full. Seeing your game gets me excited for mine!

Very cool! This is great to see as it also appears to be the same 'full upgrade' edition as ours.

In that first pic where he's set up, those backboxes seem way too close for my liking.

Yep, it has all the bells and whistles.

Just heard that our #48 (full UPs) is being play-tested, just waiting for Charlie's once over before boxing it up! Boy have we been waiting for these days.

For those concerned of this lower# still being on the bench, it is largely the buttered cab that has delayed this. As you can see in the thread, that they have shipped higher numbered ACNCs.

Where are they at this week on the non-butter cabinets?

#5282 5 years ago

I’m in on#76 and was told a couple weeks.

#5283 5 years ago

#54 here no word yet.

#5284 5 years ago

What’s the warning time for final payment...2 weeks, 4 weeks,? Just getting funds ready. Since TPF, this game has really shown how much of a hit it is!

#5285 5 years ago

For TNA with PinballSTAR, I received the final invoice notice on September 13th, and it was delivered on October 18th. The invoice said it would be roughly a month, and it was. Not sure how ACNC stacks up to that, or how dealing with Spooky directly goes.

#5286 5 years ago
Quoted from pinhacker71:

A couple weeks sounds off. I'm 59 and not a word yet but I haven't bothered them with a call and don't want to They're busy enough as it is and won't get me further up the line.

So just wait for the call then

It’s so far beyond delayed what does it matter at this point?

#5288 5 years ago

It is what it is. Gonna be gone out of town more often than not until end of April. Hopefully by then.

#5289 5 years ago

Ice, whats the point of adding negativity to this thread? I’m sure you can find another thread about another machine to get excited/positive about

Just reality man. Yes I'm excited about a lot of pins, really including this one. They don't get a pass.

Spooky better worry about a time in the future when people like myself don't give a shit to even care about production delays of future pins. I'll be in other pin delivery threads then. Unless they do better.

Just saying. If you are #59 then no need to post, sit back and relax, soon enough. Got it?

#5291 5 years ago

I posted because 79 was told a few weeks and that doesn’t sound correct if 54 and 59 have not been given the 2 weeks heads up yet

I get it. Nothing makes sense with ACNC and this delivery. Patience, this is pinball and its NOT Stern, thus it is what it is

#5293 5 years ago

At least the code is more mature. I look forward to playing it...and not waiting for code updates...weeks, or months...or never...ie ghostbusters.

Quoted from dnapac:

Good point. Hopefully with only one game to code for Spooky we won't end up with a GB, although its still pretty good, i have one. We know the story, "code coming"

Not sure what the state of the code is other than what i hear from those that own it. Doesn't really matter to me as long as they finish it off.

#5295 5 years ago

I played it at TPF this weekend and was really, really surprised at how much I liked it. I just didn’t expect to after watching it flip, honestly. That far right orbit shot was tough, and it might have half a shot too many wedged in there, but the code and gameplay was solid. Ball times were pretty long, and there was a ton to do to get through all those monsters. I think I’d dig the hell out of it at home.

Received the cash call email on Feb 2nd saying ready soon shipping in February. Delivered March 13th. #31 if that helps. After a year of waiting and other pin purchases I was happy to have a couple weeks to dig through the couches for some more money.

It's twitch culture vs. patience and I understand both perspectives but have less sympathy for the former . As a GenX-er who sells what are essentially toys to an increasing Millennial market who often expect us to sell things at a loss and ship them to outer nowhere at our loss/expense due to the current marketplace...we live in times that somebody who has lived through retail of the 70's through the 00's has difficulty understanding. The models and scale of almost all retail operations these days are baffling and intimidating, to say the least. Maybe everything will go to huge operations only/or small operations mainly...or maybe all retail internet and brick and mortar are due for a serious correction?

For me and ACNC, I'm middle aged and this is a gigantic luxury item. I'll never forget the 3 weeks I spent in Malawi Africa 12 years ago, that smacked me big time and - although I will never go back - I recommend a Third World visit to all Pinsiders. It will make you appreciate your box of music, flashing lights and toys even more...believe me.

Spooky is a tiny company and IMO for their size they are pulling off a Herculean task getting this out the door with solid code etc. I've been to 900+ population Benton, we missed Charlie for the pickup and just wandered into town and caught up with him randomly because our phones had no signal, got our game and went home.

Who can't be pulling for these guys?
