Artwork is fantastic, shame it will be in a line up mostly hidden.

Quoted from GreenMachine19:

For all the people crying about the topper wire I suppose you could drill a hole through the top of the head and dress it up better. If you were so inclined. I don’t think it requires a giant 3D printed plastic cover over it. In a line up you are not going to see it anyway.

No crying here....just a small plastic motor cover and a hole w removable plug in top of backbox to get the wire in would definitely clean it up nicely in a minimalistic way. Just my thoughts...

Great pic. It really does show a color difference between them.

Thanks.

How are the LEDs looking in person? I know on the Dead Flip stream they looked really bright.

The led strips aren’t overly bright at all with the plastic covers over them. The plastic seems slightly tinted.

Are the cabinets there all butter?

Not crying at all. It’s a matter of personal preference. I prefer games with pops. I could say your crying that Halloween doesn’t need pops, but it’s down to personal preference.

Just because I or others are disappointed there are no pops doesn’t mean we hate the game and as I said I am very excited for Halloween and keeping an open mind.

One other thing I wish Spooky did was that they made the pumpkin on the playfield look like the pumpkin that has the skull incorporated into it. That would look pretty cool.

Just one of each title is butter.

Quoted from Viggin900:

I'll be honest. I have watched the dead flip stream twice and it puts me to sleep. The reason being this game has no pop bumpers. I'm not saying every game has to have them but it feels like throwing a ball back and forth. Flip and the ball comes right back to you like Alice Cooper. Atleast Steve Ritchie had something to keep it in motion like the rev mechanic in No Fear. Many people confuse "flow" as point and shoot. Pumpkin pop bumbers would have looked so cool in this game and kept the game in suspense. Maybe the upper playfield does this but it didn't work in AC.

Disagree. Alice Cooper is excellent.

#1959 2 years ago
Quoted from Viggin900:

there is a dead space under an upper playfield and nothing else would work like drop targets etc.

I was unsure how much difference there would be, but it's obvious, and since I will only have 2 pins, the art will be very visible. Good job Spooky, you got another grand out of me!

Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

You can't tell the difference? Looks like one of each for HWN and UM

#1962 2 years ago

Mildly interested in the butter (as this will be on the left side of my 3 pins with full view of the Left side from my Hallway/entry) but cant really justify $1,000 for it. Would need to see it in person I guess and that's not an option for me. I'm perfectly happy with how my LZ and MET look with just the regular cabinet decals, and I think Halloween looks just fine as well without the butter based on this pics I've seen. Guess the colors do pop a little more w butter, but $1000... just cant justify it for myself. Budget is stretched thin as is!

#1963 2 years ago

I'm not a fan of pop bumpers at all unless they add random chaos by being exposed, and/or I have to shoot through them like Congo, IMDN, etc...

I would rather that space used for something more fun/creative.

TWD has awesome placement of pops. Borg tortured the player ever so gently with that rh orbit shot. Very satisfying to make. Other was D&D. One giant lower pop would drain ball quick as lightning if not careful.

Looks so damn awesome.

I'm surprised there's that big of a difference in print quality between the decals and direct print. It almost looks like the decals are missing colors.

I would like to see both versions in a line, so that both sides getting camera flash / daylight and not that butter in front and normal cab in the shadow … guess only than you can see if there is such a great difference in the color …

So I’ve played 5 games and wanted to give my initial feedback.

1. Stop sweating the LED lights. When playing it is truly a non issue.

2. The topper needs some work. It’s really cool but needs the metal plate behind the knife powder coated black IMO. Spooky Luke is open to suggestions but as of yet has not come up with a great way to cover the motor. I feel blacking out the metal plate will help a lot but then again just my humble opinion.

3. This is not a game you are going to walk up to and play great. It’s challenging and thats a really good thing.

4. It’s hard to judge overall atmosphere at a pinball show but I’m encouraged.

5. It in no way plays slow. It has a good an intense pace that keeps you on your toes so don’t sweat the speed of the game.

6. The Spooky team is awesome but y’all already knew that!

All for now!

#1970 2 years ago

Not missing colors, the butter is just more saturated. I actually prefer the color treatment on the decal for HWN as it’s a bit muted suiting the theme better. On the other hand butter looks 1000x better on UM. Colors really pop, which suits THAT theme. I’m sticking with decal on HWN.

Appreciate this kind of feedback! Been very interested to hear how people liked the gameplay.

On the butter flipside, I think the non-butter on the left has a better looking shooter panel graphic, brighter and matching the time of day depicted. That's all I would see with my lineup so most concerned with that.

They look great when playing! When watching from further away they are a little distracting/blinding but not at all when in front of the game playing. Not an issue to worry about.

Is it Just me or does the butter on the right look more purple on the front decal display? Time of day does look different. Never seen butter look this much different

#1981 2 years ago

I’m person….The only difference between the butter cabinet and the regular cabinet is that the butter one is a matte finish look and the regular one is a gloss finish. Other than that…..they look identical IMHO

Sure you don’t have them backwards? The butter is glossy. And def has more saturated colors.

#1983 2 years ago

Both are great lookin, can't go wrong with either choice.

#1984 2 years ago

Thanks for all the great feedback! It looks challenging and fun to play, and I cant wait to flip it. The art is really spectacular and the whole package looks really good. Back Alley really did a bang up job and looking at some of the detailed toys and props up close is a work of art. I thought I was impressed with the ship on JJP POTC, but the detail on HW is also a work of art.

I love Halloween, and I asked my wife-is it too early to start decorating for Halloween yet? She said yes
I asked a friend who goes crazy with decorations when he starts-he said 'When you see the Spirit Halloween stores pop up-it's time.' I will start pulling out my decorations next week

#1986 2 years ago

Good question and from what I have read here I would have thought the butter one would have been glossy. The butter has a really great look (more “real” looking colors) and feels great (like butter smooth) don’t get me wrong but to the eye here at the show it does not have the reflective gloss that the original does.

I’ll try and get a pic here later that shows what I’m seeing.

I see they added a Rabbit in Red matchbook decal on the sanitarium drop target - love the little touches that are being added in. Hope all the drop targets have a little something added to them.

good video explaining under playfield and back box. They also said would be shipping with some spare parts.

Liking the single led boards and if they supply spare led boards that would be a nice touch.
Uplifters look nice and chunky, in fact the whole thing looks pretty damn good!

One BIG con with this pin is no video clips from the movie, just crappy still animations wtf. It could be the cheapest animations ever in a pin.

#1992 2 years ago

They have a bunch of approved content that is in and in process of being implemented into the game.
Sure they can always add more and I'm sure they are trying. They have the real voices. Music and video assets.

Cmon, its so early in its code, maybe 50% .And if they revealed everything they had, what would we have to look forward to? Very excited for this to arrive, can you guys at spooky work faster?

#1994 2 years ago

You clearly have not been paying attention, there are about TWENTY film clips ready to be installed in the next code version and more to follow.

#1995 2 years ago

Yes, and its already been said that the license holder must approve every clip and how its used. That takes times. If you're content with your Wrestlemania I have no doubt you'll enjoy HWN. Its already light years ahead of Wrestlemania code wise.

The guy who only owns what is constantly rated as the worst game Stern ever made, is unhappy with Halloween's animations? This is worse than I thought!

#1997 2 years ago

I had a similar first impression- going to reserve my opinion until we see an update.

The guy doing the animations is definitely all in on both horror and pinball. Believe this is the guy

We just spent the weekend in ATL at the SFGE. Y’all probably heard 4 of the spooky squad drove through the night from Benton to bring 2 Halloween’s and 2 UMs to the show - what a treat!! The games look even better in person and shoot super smooth. I’m excited to watch the code mature - Bug has lots of ideas! THANKS SPOOKY!

You know, that's a really good point. These guys drive halfway across the states hauling 4 machines, that as far as they are concerned are sold out. They did NOT have to take 4 or even 2, heck they didn't even have to go, yet here they are bending over backwards to give the industry ample opportunity to beat them up on their latest accomplishments.
Just goes to show you they are in it for the "love of the game".

Hats off guys, good job giving folks a taste of all that is Spooky.

The video clips are the "reward" for progressing in a mode, etc., which I think is awesome (especially seeing an animated scene transform into that scene from the film).

I dislike LCD animations that have disjointed video clips playing out of sync with the game (lack of immersion).

This approach does a good job at blending DMD animation progression with the benefits of LCD.

No pin will be for everyone, but I find it to be incredibly creative and fun to shoot.

-----

I imagine it's just early code, but one nitpick would be the delay between players (possibly already mentioned).
