In the process of designing two mods.
One for Halloween the other for Ultraman.

Halloween House mod and pumpkin leaves. IF YOU WANT ONE PM ME

Right window has animated display
Left window has two layer translit with dimming lighting effects.

UPDATE:
Due to shortages worldwide Halloween house is to have only one LCD display for the right window and two layer translite with dimming led on the left.
Instructions supplied as link on tracking email.

The Halloween is supplied painted with wear effects on paintwork etc

You can see other peoples painted versions later in the thread.

Thanks to kciaccio , Morgoth00 for the help and patience

Quoted from jk2171:

Looks cool; is this for the balcony ramp from the uppermost playfield in Halloween?

Yep sits in that area

#11 2 years ago
Quoted from jk2171:

Man, that is really cool. If you can get that one window to be cracked with that piece hanging there like in the movie that would be even cooler. Definitely following this thread, and put me down if you make a pre-order list.

Im looking at adding displays in each or one window depending on costs etc.
So you'll have more than just cracks etc.
Will try to give as much atmosphere as possible.

Drain pipe included

#13 2 years ago
Quoted from Palmer:

What’s your idea for that area on Ultraman?

Ah yes thats completely different.
Have a mixture of ideas for that one.

Have ordered bits for that so will take longer than this one.
Will post a mock soon.

#17 2 years ago
Quoted from XatchieS:

Vimtoman when can one sign up for the mods?

Just Pm me your email address.
But dont post it on the here

Small test of displays. Proto housing unpainted.
Rolling animation of moon and clouds reflection plus static Michael in bedroom.

#31 2 years ago

I'm dabbling in a novel way of triggering the animations
Dont think anyone's done it this way . May be a reason for that
But if It works would be a fun addition.

1 week later
#34 2 years ago
Quoted from J85M:

Not sure I like the moon as your looking in the house at Micheal but then technically look outside to the moon on the left.
Is there anyway to animate each window separately? So Micheal and simply move from window to window? More Micheal is always good!

Was a test and quite like the reflection of the moon so probably stay as one animation.
Yep theres going to be a few animations with Michael.
Plus a few random effects possibly.

Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

Do you have an ETA when this will be ready? Looks great.

Going to be a few weeks yet.

Ultraman to be next once Halloween finished.

Thats going to be completely different and will be revealed when Im nearly done.

#48 2 years ago
Quoted from Gotfrogs:

Doing something like this might require fewer boards?
https://sudomod.com/spooky-arduino-halloween-eyes/

The main board doubles up and caters for Halloween and Ultraman.
Halloween I'm experimenting on the switching side.

Ultraman will be completely different and no displays.

#51 2 years ago
Quoted from Lostcause:

Looking good, could it play film scenes in attract mode like those little tv mods?
I will be down for one anyway

No scenes from film I'm afraid to say due to rights etc
But theres going to be an animation with the main dude and some other titbits.
Will try and make it varied and entertaining.

Quoted from kciaccio:

How was looking on the mod? Can't wait to put this first mod on my Halloween!

Ive finished the body and all fits in location.
Also guttering added

All parts and pcb fit in body.
Rear plate with connector done.
Just waiting for pcb to arrive.
Displays on order and should be in next week.
Sensors arrived.
So pcb tests to be done.

I have yet to finish off the video's which will take some time.
Have a bunch to link and sync. Mainly Mikey roaming around.
Plus work on syncing the sensor and pin.
Sensor may work or not. Yet to be determined if it makes a difference.Bit of a oddball idea i had.

I'm going to try and make as many variations as possible .
Waithing for some kit toi arrive for this.

Update.

Bits for video have arrived and shot some scenes which look pretty good.
Just need to complete the compositions of the videos to give a variety.

I think I'm going to use one screen for live and a fixed scene in the other window due to visual limitations.

Will post pictures of the final model when I'm happy with the paint job.

So really close to actual builds.

Getting closer to finishing.
Heres a clip test.

1 week later

#104 2 years ago

Ok really close to finishing the design.
Ive now cut to one display that covers Mikes room.
The other window is a pre lit with static image. This has three layers to give some feel of depth.

This is a costing and display availability choice.

20 Videos for the room.
Some just effects and fillers but a good range of events to give some life to the house.
Two characters played by Vimtoman , Dr L and Mike.
Yes your going to have my ugly mug on your pin....

You have two options for video control.
1. A set playlist so that you can see the whole list one after another. List is preset and loops.
2. Playlist chosen by the Red,Green,OFF lighting from the game. This is yet to be tested on the pin. Have used footage from youtube.

The color playlist function is experimental and a bit of fun to check out and give you a random feel.
Lighting levels are measured regular to take care of any ambient lighting changes.

I will have options to have random dimming of lighting for left window run it fulltime.
Brightness adjustable.

Cant see much need in changing the brightness but added anyway.

Just one power connector to 12v .

Fitting is still to be sorted.

Any advice on 12V power pickup points welcome. PCB ,PSU just PM me.

Will post when printing starts.

OK Halloween dev is finished and I'm now making a batch up. Will contact people in a week or so.
I will add an additional mod to the Halloween house which is the Pumkin leaves shown below.
Price will be £185 which will include del and pumkin leaves mod.

Pumpkin leaves are flexible so will take impact from ball etc.

#131 2 years ago

OK nearing the completetion of the first batch.

I'm ditching the color sensor section as it really does not bring anything to the mod due to the on off changes of the lighting.
You will still have ability to chose either Mike or Dr L videos only and a mixed selection of videos I have seletced from the two.
The video will seamlessly play one after another with moon and cloud reflection video in between.

The Pumking leaves have been cleaned up and ready to print up.

#134 2 years ago
Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

Can you post your list of potential buyers so we know where we are on it?

Your in the first batch

I dont like adding lists to the threads as they just keep on changing all the time.
Ive taken note of all that have commented on here and contacted me direct.
I should be able to cater for all but will be a small gap between for me to catch up.

#138 2 years ago
Quoted from Lostcause:

Very nice, how many takes was it on the footage and do you have any outtakes to sharelol
Also like the effect on the left window.
Looks amazing!

We had a few retakes making the ghost didnt want to trash a sheet so black marker on masking tape for the eyes.... Couldn't see what direction I was pointing so walked everywhere facing the wrong direction .

May post that later

#140 2 years ago
Quoted from McIntyre905:

Curious could you do a version with no video? Maybe just the way the left window looks for both?

Once the first batch is done I will have a model with no video.

#143 2 years ago
Quoted from SuperMica:

Please add me to your Ultraman list + Thanks!
...and what do you have in mind for Ultraman?
We're 140+ posts in and no word yet.

I'm falling behing on it but work is being done. Theres testing of the theory of the model happening and things change daily.
Right now I'm focusing on the Halloween builds and when thats completed will be full steam ahead on the Ultraman mod.

Heres a sneek pic of what I have so far. Rough and will change more likely.

OK first batch is going out this week, Second batch next week. There will be a third but a delay due to stock shortages.

There will be a price increase after the third batch due to prices going up and the shortages of some components
So anyone after this message may have to expect a small rise.

Hope you enjoy the mods.
It's been fun to do and my parody of the Halloween house.

Any thoughts on giving her roof some more color?
[quoted image]

Quoted from Calfdemon:

I am probably going to give my roof a grey base and black wash when it arrives. Should give it just the right look.

Yes its a good idea and I had originally done so but pulled out due to time getting it uniform.

If you do add your touch then try out a coarse sponge.
Be interested in seeing your efforts on the roof etc.

Quoted from littlecammi:

If you don't order the window screens, then it comes with storm windows instead.

Looks nice. Has anyone hired a handyman to fix the bent and broken piece of gutter that's hanging down?

Quoted from Jakers:

I asked and was told I cannot order it without the screens. I would love to have this mod, but I only want the 3D printed part. Oh well, maybe someday he'll make that an option.

Quoted from Jenniebear:

I would also like to buy just the house. I don’t want the screens.

No storm windows mentioned?

Ive mentioned to all that asked for a "no LCD version" that its not being made for quite a while.
Thats a lit window version with translites on both side.

I'm not really keen on doing it though.

Definitely not making a shell only version.

I cant cover everyones wants so how the mod comes out is my choice.

The Ultraman mod is next then once that is done I may work on it.

Have sent a few to friends to evaluate and test.
You can cut ,bend onto the smoked clear.
May help in protection of led strip.
Picture in situ is an older version.

These will be printed as shown in the lower image.
So a matt look but the adventurous can use a hotair gun to make it crystal clear.

Does anyone have a good method for laying the house flat against the plastics on that upper playfield? I have the house installed behind the Spooky house floor, but the power cable and header is directly against one of the clear plastics in that crossover. I’m not sure what I did wrong in my installation, but the effect is that the house is tilted toward the ground, and you can hardly see the animations.

Shift it further to the left plus angle left side away from back slightly.

#445 1 year ago
Quoted from Jakers:

This mod is fantastic. Nicely done Vimtoman I was not expecting so many different animations in the window!
I painted them myself. In my opinion, the neon green leaves do not fit the look of everything else on the playfield so I painted them heavily with brown and green paint so they only let a little bit of light pass through. I feel it matches the theme much better.
[quoted image][quoted image]

Thanks Jake for posting and adding pictures. They look great.
It's nice to get to see everyones setup and how they want the mod to look like.
The leaves do look good and an option for all to check out.

Overall theres 21 seperate animations but some are duplicates with slighlty different effects.
I decided to show all animations with an option to choose all animations ,Mike or Dr Loomis.
They are played seemless from one to another.

Quoted from smoke20:

BTW, what type of paint did you use?

Should be an acrylic paint. Model type.
Color Jake can advise.

[quoted image][quoted image]

Thanks Robert for posting and again these pictures are great.

Scoop mod works great Vimtoman. It has rectified my scoop shot from the left and right flippers. One of the nice things about it is that it basically forces the scoop back into the correct angle as well, I had to bend mine back into position a bit during the install, but it won’t be moving now. Only thing I had to do for my install was unscrew the flasher socket. I’ve included some photos below (I’ve removed my leaves to show what it looks like installed). I got the orange scoop, but the orange is pretty unique, as it’s semi transparent, and it glows the colors of the leds above it, good stuff!

Thanks for posting.
Yep its pretty tight there so yes you can remove or lift the pumpkin light socket.
All the scoop but black are clear colors and will light up

Finally purchased and received the house/vine combo. First off, the prints are quality. I also cannot believe the weight of the house! It feels very solid and my little one gets a kick out of the "ghost!" Well worth it and has really improved the look of the machine, making it feel more complete!

Thanks, taken a long time to design and finalalise a version of the print.

Had a laugh making the ghost scene as couldnt see through the sheets.
May post the outakes one day.

I have a few that were sent at the same time as yours, That have tracking and they are stuck in USA Chicago Customs . Last dated note was 2nd Jan.
Sorry but there seems to be an issue of all items sent around the week yours went out.
I will email you the post label which does have a reference but cannot be used for tracking.

Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I will test this for you - but please upload to Thingiverse or Printables. CGTrader is a horrible site for the casual user, you are forced to register for an account and they spam like crazy

Not had any spam from CGTrader but heres a printables link.

Quoted from Mro-Tek:

From looking at others videos of the house mod it looks like the they have a ghost that appears in the window. Mine only his Michael and a mouse run across the floor. Is there a setting or something. My house mod was one of the earlier ones I think so maybe it was not included then?

On the rear of the house are two potentiometers on your version.
Your probably set for Micheal only.
See image below.
Its also in the instructions pdf sent

Top fully clockwise and bottom fully anticlockwise is default setting.
Ive now removed this setup on future versions.
