Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:I don’t know what all the complaining is about on RM flippers.
I’ve had mine since November and it plays fine. I own DP and yes those flippers feel and play better but it’s not like RM is that big of a difference to say I’d think about selling it. All I did was install a couple small zip tie ends to my right flipper when I first got it to improve the contact of that goofy plastic lever that gets pushed by the right flipper button. (I posted my fix and it’s one of the key posts) I’ve got around 1k plays on my RM and I’m able to make every shot and I’ve never noticed any loss of power either.
You are just lucky. There are plenty of other issues people have reported that others haven't seen (myself included). The flipper issues are common enough though. They aren't just something people are over reacting about. They are flaky and finicky by varying degrees on many games.
I myself haven't noticed much power loss for example - until this latest update, but it mostly seems to depend on the timing settings in my case - but I definitely can't get knockdowns to stop regardless of the settings. I'm also noticing now as I try to get them perfect that it really doesn't matter what setting it is on, it doesn't seem to be the 'same' going back to previous settings. I
I will tell you for as much as I love the game, nothing is more infuriating than a game being ruined by the flipper drops that send the ball right down the drain. The part that makes this even more frustrating is my flippers performed amazingly on the last update after I had them set. I have not as of yet went back in yet again and tried to screw with the EoS - which...frankly shouldn't be needed since I know it worked fine previously as they are.
We are being told it's a coding issue. Maybe it is, but even if the code was perfect, it really sounds like you have to fine tooth comb the flippers themselves before everyone would see consistent results. I'm considering going back to the old code, and trying to set them the same as they were before. Validating the knockdowns are not happening. I don't know what happens to the settings when you update though. They clearly didn't work right after the update(for me) and setting them to original - with the previous settings - doesn't work either. EP said the code should have been the same, but I think there's enough evidence saying that something did change.
This isn't to dog Spooky, it's just the reality of the situation.
