I like space themes...

The Last Starfighter
Event Horizon - oooohhh blow up the ship (like MM)

But I can't see either of those being popular enough to be a pin, but I can think of some cool design choices for them.

Evil Dead would probably be an instant buy for me and of all horror ideas, would probably be the most widely popular theme for a pin. MAYBE you could do some Romero stuff, but honestly...meh.

I'd like to see a real Gremlins pin. It has some campyness and good soundtrack and callouts and the modes write themselves.

They did a RZ and AC pin, why not a MM pin? lol.

Someone above mentioned Ren & Stimpy....

I think Animaniacs and/or Pinky & the Brain would be a decent theme for a pin. (especially since they just started them both back up).

Quoted from johnnyutah:

My top 3 Spooky Wish List Themes that only they could pull off:

3) the Gate

Yeah, too obscure though lol. Great movie though!

Quoted from pinheadpierre:

Didn’t Spooky run a poll awhile back asking which Guillermo Del Toro work would make a good pin?

Don't know, but I think 10 years ago (or more) Hell Boy would have made sense.

#67 2 years ago

I can't believe I didn't think of this one before but "Todd and the Book of Pure Evil" would make a great pin.

If you haven't seen it go check it out. It's a TV series with similarities to Evil Dead but metal themed. It's great. Probably too unknown to sell well as it was only on for 2 seasons. I think some of it you can watch on Youtube now.

You have the ONLY Rick and Zorty?
Or, are you just talking out your ass about Rick and Morty? Because I have one. Needed 3 switch adjustments so far. I feel like I was ripped off!

I think he meant Rob Zombie??

#119 1 year ago
Quoted from Calfdemon:

I'm fairly certain he knows that RZ is Rob Zombie. I believe he was blasting Hawkmoon for slamming Rick & Morty when he has never owned one. When HM responded with the fact he had a RZ, Guitarted inquired as to whether he has a Rick & Zorty since he keeps talking shit (in multiple threads) about a game he has never owned.
Gotta follow along here folks... Lol

Hard to tell sometimes.

Heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from another it is REO Speedwagon.

Quoted from Thermionic:

I think Spooky would absolutely kill it with a Troma Films theme. “Killer Tomatoes” and “Poultrygeist” would get my $$$, and these cinematic masterpieces might get my $$$ AND my firstborn:[quoted image][quoted image]

If you're going to do Troma....Giger designed the killer.

Quoted from Grossp59:

Megadeth would be awesome, but my number 1 Spooky wishlist pin is Slipknot. Dark and heavy imagery, fast paced metal... It's also one of those bands that I don't think Stern would touch, as they probably arent popular enough. But, would be perfect for the bootique manufacturer that is Spooky.
A boy can dream...

They are hugely popular, even to this day (at least in the realm of rock/metal) worldwide. But, I'm not sure how many pinball collectors would want one.

#198 1 year ago
Quoted from oneballjab:

This thread has me laughing everyday.
I don’t know what’s more awesome the fact that they made a Frogtown trilogy or that they made 5 Leprechauns!
For me it’s a toss up between Leprechaun in space and Leprechaun in the hood for best title.
[quoted image][quoted image]

They made 6 actually. You forgot this one, so apparently in the hood must have been popular....and the recent remake, which was actually pretty good.

Quoted from Calfdemon:

I think part of the plot (from what I read) in Thankskilling 3 is they are trying to get the last copies of Thankskilling 2 back.
Anyway, another classic movie that is actually worth watching is Rubber. Trust me, don't give up and keep watching. It keeps getting better and after watching it, you will think "what the hell did I just watch" and then watch it again. It gets better each time you watch it because you understand more and its hilarious!
[quoted image]
No matter how bad you want to turn it off in the first 15 minutes, don't... You will be (should be) happy you stuck it out!

So I watched this..definitely a WTF did I just watch. I can't say it was...good...but it was just f'd up enough to make me keep watching to try to figure out what was going on. Pretty sure the idea board came from all those videos of random rolling tires coming out of nowhere and taking people out.

You are all way wrong.

It's Space Jam 2. To be announced with the release of the movie.

#372 1 year ago
Quoted from oneballjab:

I joined the fang club a week ago hoping the new pin was gonna be Little Shop Of Horrors, Beetlejuice or Evil Dead.
If it is Scooby Doo I’m on the fence, it’s not a dream theme for me, but I think Spooky could hit a home run with it and it could be a load of fun.
Does anyone know how it works in the fang club, I know you get early pre order opportunity, but are you still blind buying or do you get to see the game mechanics, flow, art etc?

When they did r&m there was video of the game only a day or so prior to preorders opening up...it really was a blink and miss it deal. Hoping they do it a bit differently this go around.

#385 1 year ago
Quoted from finnflash:

I hope they do Evil Dead, but not now because I just bought a pin.

LOL that's my problem, just got my R&M and hopefully an Alien in a few months....really can't justify yet another NIB pin right now.

#472 1 year ago

I would really enjoy just a generic Evil Dead that encompasses 2 and 3 (since 1 is basically redone in 2). So many callouts.

#492 1 year ago

Well shit..I'm already out priced...I don't have any kids.

I know everyone is excited for all the new announcements...but I have a feeling we are all in for a rude awakening with much higher price points, and waiting even longer than usual for them to get made.

Quoted from LTG:

I wouldn't think so. They expanded and hired more people. Now the second largest employer in Benton Wisconsin.
LTG : )

I was looking at it more from a parts shortage perspective in general..and not just Spooky. My company is already making plans for when India shuts down (for example)

#527 1 year ago
Quoted from Lethal_Inc:

So let me get this right. If I’m not a fang club member I probably won’t get a LE model because they all pre sell out but I still can get in on a standard model the day of release if I get with the right distributor? Or, all models are pretty much sell out to fang club members? I’m not an LE spender so if I like the theme enough I would still like to try and get a standard.

Well, it really depends on what it is, and how many they are making. People were signing up the day of so they could order. It didn't matter if it was LE or standard because the total number was 750 regardless of version. R&M was an unexpected hit in terms of people wanting them and while everyone keeps saying they 'sold out in 4 hours' that wasn't really true. Half(?) were slated to distros and were available weeks after that first sale day. Usual BS pinball FOMO marketing.

They did announce prior to fang club being able to order, so if you are on the fence, you should have time to sign up prior to them going on sale.

#529 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

It sounds like Spooky may have learned a thing or two with the massive amount of money they left on the table by limiting R&M to only 750. I wouldn't be surprised if they went the Stern/JJP route and had 3 levels of pin. An actual limited edition, a middle one that is the same as the LE but with less bling, and a standard that is missing some toys. That way they could make the middle one (Stern Prem or JJP LE equivalent) pretty much until they got tired of making it.

possible. I hope they don't go the 3 tier route though.

#552 1 year ago
Quoted from Betelgeuse:

It won't be Evil Dead/Army of Darkness.

I hope it isn't next, but after that. If they weren't sure if the demand was there, they should be now.

Quoted from lpeters82:

It was announced that Ben Heck was producing a title in conjunction with Spooky and Chicago Gaming Company. Seems logical that this would be a potential second game. Are people expecting more then a Spooky title and a Spooky / Chicago Gaming Company / Ben Heck title?
[quoted image]

I swear in the DR thread he said it was 1 game, then his collab but don't quote me.

#562 1 year ago

also keep in mind when they announced R&M they had an expected timeframe and didn't want to be making the same game for 4 years. Now, they are expanding more, and considering how fast they've been pumping out R&M's they have probably increased manpower, so I expect they will make larger numbers going forward.

#570 1 year ago
Quoted from Hypercoaster:

On the Youtube video comments, Spooky clarified that the clue was "Stacked and loaded".

I had no idea Spooky was going to do a porn themed pin. Ballsy.

#572 1 year ago

My real guess is out of left field, Legos.

#581 1 year ago

It's a Waffle House pin. They left off smothered and covered.

#590 1 year ago

In case Spooky hasn't been paying attention. Evil Dead themed pin would sell like hotcakes. Make it so

#593 1 year ago
Quoted from sataneatscheese:

As enjoying the Robocop pin made me go watch Robocop, so the Evil Dead movie will make me watch Evil Dead. As someone who has not watched any of them, which one should I watch?

Evil Dead 2 then Army of Darkness, then if you like them Ash vs. Evil dead (TV series 3 seasons). And if you REALLY like them go back and watch Evil Dead 1. The reason being Evil Dead 2 is basically a remake of Part 1, but expanded with more story and just better overall. But Evil Dead 1 was less campy(?) and more low budget horror for the time.

The end of ED2 goes directly into AoD, so I do recommend watching part 2 before AoD.

One other thing to note. There is a 3rd 'remake' in 2013 called Evil Dead. This is not the movie we are talking about. It is not campy, it is straight up horror/gore. It's not bad for what it is, and there's even a short cameo, but it can cause some confusion.

#597 1 year ago
Quoted from lpeters82:

That's a surprisingly great question, because for most movies you should probably just watch them in release order. In this case though, I agree with others, start with Evil Dead II. If you like Evil Dead II then go right into Army of Darkness. Regardless of Spooky's next game you should still watch the movies. Bruce Campbell is an icon.
PS: I also see there is an Evil Dead video game coming out in 2021.

Yeah, there's been a handful over the years. This new one is like Left 4 Dead but Evil Dead themed.

#601 1 year ago

That actually did come out in comics didn't it?

#606 1 year ago
Quoted from rolandthoms:

And then after you’ve watched them all, you will (a) watch one or more of them annually and (b) drop one-liners to your wife like “gimme some sugar, baby” as foreplay. This leads to a lot of “eye rolling”from wife which you will feed off of. You will then purchase a bunch of Evil Dead/AoD shit that you don’t need which will lead to a lot more “eye rolling”. The cycle continues and her respect for you erodes as she says “does anybody even watch these movies? “. But alas, you will be vindicated as you wheel the New Spooky pinball into your game room and say “Hail to the king, baby “. She will drop into your arms with lust in her eyes.

Lol, likewise, except my wife is a bigger Evil Dead fan than me. She basically said if Spooky releases an ED game, we're getting it.

#613 1 year ago

And when they do make Evil Dead, the $2k topper better be a possessed dear head.

#664 1 year ago
Quoted from Pinball-Obsessed:

I don’t know what all the complaining is about on RM flippers.
I’ve had mine since November and it plays fine. I own DP and yes those flippers feel and play better but it’s not like RM is that big of a difference to say I’d think about selling it. All I did was install a couple small zip tie ends to my right flipper when I first got it to improve the contact of that goofy plastic lever that gets pushed by the right flipper button. (I posted my fix and it’s one of the key posts) I’ve got around 1k plays on my RM and I’m able to make every shot and I’ve never noticed any loss of power either.

You are just lucky. There are plenty of other issues people have reported that others haven't seen (myself included). The flipper issues are common enough though. They aren't just something people are over reacting about. They are flaky and finicky by varying degrees on many games.

I myself haven't noticed much power loss for example - until this latest update, but it mostly seems to depend on the timing settings in my case - but I definitely can't get knockdowns to stop regardless of the settings. I'm also noticing now as I try to get them perfect that it really doesn't matter what setting it is on, it doesn't seem to be the 'same' going back to previous settings. I

I will tell you for as much as I love the game, nothing is more infuriating than a game being ruined by the flipper drops that send the ball right down the drain. The part that makes this even more frustrating is my flippers performed amazingly on the last update after I had them set. I have not as of yet went back in yet again and tried to screw with the EoS - which...frankly shouldn't be needed since I know it worked fine previously as they are.

We are being told it's a coding issue. Maybe it is, but even if the code was perfect, it really sounds like you have to fine tooth comb the flippers themselves before everyone would see consistent results. I'm considering going back to the old code, and trying to set them the same as they were before. Validating the knockdowns are not happening. I don't know what happens to the settings when you update though. They clearly didn't work right after the update(for me) and setting them to original - with the previous settings - doesn't work either. EP said the code should have been the same, but I think there's enough evidence saying that something did change.

This isn't to dog Spooky, it's just the reality of the situation.

#710 1 year ago

Don't forget...unless they change lots of things this time around, whatever # they announce, expect ~50 less that go to 'people' before you. They all do it, just something to be aware of.

The biggest hurdle last time was really the web site being soooo slow. I thought I was going to miss out because somehow 2 got added to my cart. I made the 'mistake' of clearing that..then it took me nearly another 20 minutes to get another game added and to the cart.

I'm hoping a little bit of this process changes for the future games. I'm sure they'll announce more (they said something about a new website) as it gets closer to game announcement.

Another great theme that I haven't seen many people mention would be Trick R' Treat. Due to the nature of the story it lends itself to modes. If you haven't seen this, check it out, very good movie.

You catch so much with each viewing. We watch it every Halloween as well.

Quoted from Drac:

I don't really understand where all this love for Beatle Juice is coming from. Was it really that great of a movie? Is there a big cult following for it? I just remember the movie being pretty average really and also don't recall it being a big hit either. I don't think I've heard this movie mentioned by anyone for 30 years until this thread.
Am I just out of touch??

Most Tim Burton films have a large cult following. Really, most of the genre we're talking about doesn't do that well in theaters, and garners cult followings over time. I'm not a huge fan of Beetlejuice really, but it's enjoyable and can see where it could make for a decent pin theme.

#766 1 year ago

Attack of the Remakes

Story goes Joe was fed up with all the really bad remakes of his favorite movies and went on an internet slandering spree. His hatred spread through the interwebs and manifested itself into a heinous beast that could only stutter movie one liners while it sought out and slaughtered the directors of those movies.

You, the player are Joe's heinous beast. You make your way through the numerous modes of horrible remakes enacting your revenge while mumbling things like "CGI isn't as good as practical effects" and "This should have been Rated R"

#769 1 year ago

I think that one would be highly divisive (old school universal monsters). You are getting to the very edges of the age brackets with that. I personally would have no interest as I like more modern versions. But it would probably sell just fine. RHPS on the other hand, I bet it would sell out fast.

edited for clarification.

#771 1 year ago
Quoted from dnapac:

I’m starting to think it’s Universal Classic Monsters. 1) Charlie’s shirt in the most recent video of him and bug. 2) the poster in the new video waking the half naked man on their FB. 3) the stuffed Dracula toy on the floor in the same video (if it’s not a prop, I guess the half naked man has a stuffed sleeping buddy . 4) the fang club Bela Lugosi stand up. Of course, I could be totally wrong...

I actually was thinking this when they first announced the swag stuff. I was trying to think back to R&M and none of the swag had to do with that though, but it would make sense for it to match.

Quoted from DanQverymuch:

That panda thing in post 681 seems significant. Can't imagine what else a panda could mean. Well, except that production was moving to China, and it ain't that!
Edit: Charlie referenced a "Mr. Panda" in a post two years ago, so there goes that theory... Note I'm not up on my Spooky lore, never listened to the podcast, etc.

I think the time to make a Kung Fu Panda pin is past....although I wouldn't mind a Tenacious D pin.

EDIT: well..maybe not...Kung Fu Panda 4 is due out next year....but still pretty sure this isn't it lol.

#800 1 year ago

Depends on if they are looking at something old or modern. R&M was refreshingly modern for a pinball machine. Sure there are some properties that are old /long running modern (like TWD) but you do have limited timeframes those things are viable. While Zombieland could be a good pin....does it really have a cult following like Evil Dead or Beetlejuice, etc have? I would like to see them continue with more modern themes, but I think in discussing them you'd be hard pressed to get a consensus about what is popular beyond comic book movies.

#802 1 year ago
Quoted from drfrightner:

You know when you talk about Beetlejuice, I don't know if the studio has full access to the assets. You had a lot of big stars in the movie such as Ryder, Keaton, and the director himself Burton. Tricky title to get the rights to everything. Look at Aliens they have rights to every clip for the game with exception to the movies star Weaver. Picking themes for a company like Spooky, where you don't have the team to create from scratch screen animations... you need full access to assets. You're also chasing themes that Stern or JJP isn't after.
Themes like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure with full assets makes sense and it would be cheaper. Universal Studios Monsters, Friday the 13th, Halloween, all those movies make sense... Fast and Furious makes NO sense.
I'm sticking with what I said Universal Studios theme based on their classic monsters.

Yeah, it's true. Also, I think someone mentioned this before but we are all kind of assuming it will be a horror property, but who knows. They ventured into dark comedy animation. That opens a whole different genre to explore. I agree though, while I'm not clear on how it fits the clues, the universal monster thing makes sense.

OMG that's awesome! I had no idea. Hells yes. I like them all but I really miss me some ATHF.

and no, ATHF would not be the weakest. I would say as a pin it would def be more in tune than Venture Bros. ATHF has a much larger following.

#827 1 year ago

Just realized..Trailer Park Boys..I would buy that machine.

#841 1 year ago

Phantasm always seemed like a no brainer for a pinball theme. Really surprised it was never made back in the 80's. It wasn't so overly popular that the license would have been really expensive to get I would imagine.

#854 1 year ago
Quoted from Krupps4:

Whatever it is, my hope is that it’s horrorific. An adult themed title where they take a chance or two or three. Something set to scare... With that being said, you have to ask yourself if they have gotten too “mainstream” to do something like that. Not criticizing. I love Spooky. Just saying...

Hellraiser it is.

None of Spooky's games have been overly dark, but I agree. They release themes that have unique fan bases.

Quoted from guitarded:

Goonies made an impact? On whom?
I can't imagine anyone (but Deeproot?) thinking that was a viable Pinball Theme. I don't know that it would outsell Food Truck.

You might be wrong about that one. It lends itself to modes as well. I can't say it would be a must buy for me, but a ton of people in the pinball age would be interested.

#1013 1 year ago

But you could say that about almost all of the themes suggested here. They aren't looking for millions of buyers (even if that was awesome to do). They are looking for ~1000.

#1016 1 year ago
Quoted from lpeters82:

Is there an objective way to measure the popularity of an older franchise? I would think Goonies would be way up there in terms of 80s nostalgia. I think it would rate way higher then Adventures in Babysitting and perhaps higher then Beetlejuice and Gremlins. All are behind Back to the Future and Ghostbusters.

I'm not sure if it would be higher than Beetlejuice or Gremlins, but it depends on what you are wanting out of a pinball machine. Goonies is on the 'cuter' side than either of those, and most of us are more into the horror/camp styles. Someone made a virtual Goonies pin a few years ago and it was pretty cool.

#1021 1 year ago
Quoted from Gamemodder:

Quoted from damadczar:

This is what I mean. Stern certainly makes fun games, and their quality is good enough. However, they obviously would not do the theme justice due to a lack of interest and passion. That's fine, that's their call. If their designers don't want it, I get it. But it doesn't mean it wouldn't do well, or that many don't want to see it done. I just don't want to see the theme phoned-in by Stern when it could get loved by Spooky.
I don't know if I can agree or disagree with the comments about popularity. My sample size is all my friends and co-workers, and they all love Beetlejuice and quote it. But that's likely just an echo chamber since we're all mid-40s to mid-50s Gen-X'ers. Regardless, at Spooky's manufacturing volume I think it would fly off the virtual shelves.

That's especially the issue at hand. Not every designer is going to be passionate about every theme, and in some cases NO one on the employee list may care enough about a particular theme to make a good game, no matter how many people tell them it would sell.

That being said, bring on The Human Centipede the Pin! Who can't get behind that theme?! I know I'd want to be at the front of the line for this one!

#1145 1 year ago

I personally think Nightmare Before Christmas is way more popular than Beetlejuice.

I agree the phrase means nothing. It is confusing. Is it a difficult decision and therefore hard to make the choice? Does it emphasize the no to make it stronger? Guess that’s why it didn’t make a bigger impact in our lexicon.

It was around long before that. It might be regional, but I've heard it used clear back in the early 90's. It's just shorthand for hardline or firm.

I love the movies, but I'm in the camp that it seems lacking since it has a silent antagonist and the doc is dead. A Freddy game sounds better (done right). Not a must have for me, so if true, it gives me some time.

#1310 1 year ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Halloween never did anything for me....but, my wife loves it. It's hard to imagine it working for pinball with a silent bad guy, though. I love my Dracula, and part of that is Dracula's callouts. Horror icons like Freddy or Chucky...they talk a lot (and can be funny, too). Michael Meyers? Eh.
Well, we'll see...gotta see it all first before making a decision.

Quoted from mpdpvdpin:

I’d pass on Nightmare on Elm Street as well... would just feel weird playing a pin where the main character is a pedophile that was burned alive by townspeople and he kills children in barfy ways...in their dreams. It’s not really...fun, ya’know? I think Friday 13th makes a lot of sense for a pin (especially with the loose ruleset I posted awhile back) It’s just scary enough, juuust gruesome enough without being disgusting and the camp slasher chase and run would play out nicely on a table if done well.

My idea for a F the 13th pin would be a generic theme. You the player are a camper at Crystal lake, modes starts innocently enough you gotta do the daily 'camp' things (hitting certain shots). Maybe there's a number of additional campers represented in some manner that start to 'disappear'. Your callout narrator is a camp counseler that directs you through the shots and modes, and warns you about Jason, etc and the game play gets more hectic as you progress with most modes being running from Jason/ trying to stop Jason. Is the actress that played his mother still alive? She could do some callouts too.

To me, this approach solves a few problems inherent on Friday the 13th (and Halloween as well, except there are fewer 'people' that makes sense to do callouts on a Halloween theme).

Or anotherwords, use the properties, not the movies. Make the game its own movie. (The opposite of R&M really). The reason for this is just as someone mentioned, you never really kill these monsters. So you could essentially make your own story within the game and never break canon.

Now, for Evil Dead..you could either do this as well, or use the movies, ala R&M.

#1314 1 year ago
Quoted from mpdpvdpin:Friday the 13, is so much juicier...imagine this pin:
- Game has three independent game types embedded a la TMNT coop or JPs Escape Nublar Mini mode:
1-play as Jason alone (single player) single timed ball game where you have to kill all the campers. Jason can obtain multis by breaking team ups by campers. Plays like Safecracker basically.
2-play as a camper (single player) you team up with other campers by ripping spinner to collect 1. Pop bumper hits for 2. Ramp shots for 3 etc and total number of campers collected are reflected in the number of balls in various multi modes. As you drain balls your camper dies. Jason can also kill campers/balls in lock position if his moving insert captures them at a ball lock position. ( Jason moves like Dinosaurs in JP, quicker and more random by how agitated he is)
3-CO-OP MODE: one player plays as Jason. Single timed ball ( playable time is determined by the campers ball times ) Jason can steal multiballs by break team ups but is granted no easily obtainable multiball. Campers are played by up to 5 other players, who can team up in game against Jason with whomever they collect with Team Up shots. Jason should be played by the most advanced player in your group, and noobs should be collected quickly by more advanced camper players so they don’t get picked off.
Could you IMAGINE how addictive that game play would be?!?!?

Only thing is, the majority of players don't care about co-op, multi, or tourney play. Pinball is mostly a single player experience. Mostly.

#1318 1 year ago
Quoted from TreyBo69:

I once heard Lyman Sheats say that over 80% of pinball games played are single player based on audits from field tests.
Lots of people genuinely don’t know how to start multiplayer, let alone more advance play features. Heck even the flashing start button trips up some people.

Yea I experienced this first hand last weekend. My dad..even after playing 5 different games, still didn't grasp that you hit the start button on the front to start a game as he moved down the line....

Those look like layered objects...not just a piece of the artwork. Like some sculptures from the playfield along with some of the artwork.

To me it just looked like graphics that were layered to give dimension (shadows). That is assuming when they say cabinet they mean, the actual side of the cabinet, and not any of the playfield.

Except that damn purple area....that purple with those black lines on them looks familiar to me for some reason. But if it's graphics, it might not be purple at all, might just be off color in a shadow.

#1374 1 year ago
Quoted from dnapac:

The purple area to me looks like a rail...that’s the color/pattern of the hardware of the bloodsuckers addition.

I know that he's given us multiple hints that it might be Evil Dead themed.....but can we trust him...hmm...maybe just wishful thinking on his part.

Also, do we even have so much as a fake name for the new machine?

#1451 1 year ago

We don't know at what angle the picture was taken, but I also thought they may have flipped the image, which is why I posted that turned image a few pages back. However, for the shadows, I believe it is a drawing and the shadows are angled to the drawing itself. Not an actual sculpt - at least the grey and red/yellow area. Purple may indeed be something else like a rail.

#1454 1 year ago

Even with that knowledge (you can get that from the jpg code??) you still need to know at what angle it was comparatively to the machine. It really doesn't help give us any more info.

I like this game though.

I still stand by my first 2 guesses: He-Man or Evil Dead/Army of Darkness. Probably completely wrong.

#1457 1 year ago

Dune confirmed.

#1463 1 year ago

Actually..Hold my beer. Someone already mentioned this (and I've been looking)...but..give me a few.

So...I dunno, but upon close examination...I think we might have a winner. Those aren't stones, and that isn't purple. It's tire tread, and that purple area is the outside of the next row of tread discoloration/shadowed.

Double barrel ball launcher. A spiked pit lower PF (or basement if doing trilogy) Lock balls on the 3 books in the graveyard. Topper of the steam punk Oldsmobile with the spinning blades.

#1710 1 year ago

Yes, Spooky pinballs suck, don't buy one *that way I have one less person to compete with on the next game*

On a serious note, I've played RZ, TnA, ACNC and own an R&M. I can't say I got any different vibe from them (except maybe RZ) than any other companies. Yes, they will feel different. The R&M playfield is hands down the best playfield coming out right now that I've seen. They are definitely improving as they put out new games. R&M can be divisive because yes, it does seem minimalistic compared to JJP games -- but before GnR, it was the best light show ever (I haven't played a GnR so I can't say if that still holds true). But the theme integration/gameplay wipes the floor with so many other games. Of course, you never really know what the next one will be like until it's out.

#1718 1 year ago

The original 1981 pic’s filmmaking team is back for Evil Dead Rise: Sam Raimi, who directed, wrote and executive produced Evil Dead, will serve as EP here; Robert Tapert, who served as EP and producer on the first, will produce; and Bruce Campbell, who starred as Ashley J. Quoted from PinMonk:

Mmm...I just don't see a pin where the main character is a pedophile serial killer as being on the sales level of a Rick and Morty, which, let's be honest, is the new bar Spooky has set.

There's already been a pin of the theme that sold 2800, and that game is not great. While the movies are basically over...at least in the old style, it's still a very popular brand. If you look at it from your perspective, there shouldn't be anything created ever since 90% of themes have an antagonist that does morally wrong things. We are adults, we will make our own decisions. You keep repeating this and are starting to sound like the guy blasting Dan Harmon when R&M was announced. Which R&M has very questionable themes...so how you can compare one to the other is just your own personal biases.

Any theme would have to REALLY suck and REALLY have bad gameplay to not sell 1000 in the current pinball craze.

#1991 1 year ago
Quoted from toyotaboy:

the 2010 remake changed to origin story of krueger to a pedophile. The original series with Robert Englund did not (which is the version anyone would do a theme on). Nightmare on elm street has a huge following. I'm not a big horror fan, but I really dug this series growing up because to me it wasn't scary per say, but the ways they creatively came up to kill the teenagers was great. I have a friend that has owned the gottlieb game 3 times, and sold it every time because he can't get past the simple layout and rules.

Actually...the original script did indeed have him as a pedophile, they just dropped any direct statements of the sort due to current events at the time.

It was a flop, but not because of the theme.

That was still while short, the best interpretation of the Scooby Doo bunch in live action ever.

ANd yes, I realize the creators to this day deny it ever being intentional, but...it's a kids show... it would hurt the brand to admit it...or at least...it would have. I doubt it would hurt it at all these days.

#2055 1 year ago

I think some people forget that Scooby was from an era when people had 2 or 3 channels to watch. Don't get me wrong, I loved Scooby..and even still watch the newer movies here or there..but the overall appeal isn't there for me anymore. Most likely not interested in a pin of it.

If you are so blinded by your hatred for R&M that you don't understand why it is a main part of the discussion there isn't much anyone can say. It's fine if you feel that way, I'm not a fan of Addams Family...but frankly, GoTG has NOTHING on R&M.

I don't like any of the Marvel Themes or JP for that matter...some great f'n pins, though.

I'm looking at it more from the perspective that it is one of the best theme integrations in pinball. If you can't stand the theme/humor, you probably aren't going to like the pin. He's not wrong that it is hard af, so that only adds to the dislike for some. But also, if you are using GoTG as a comparison for gameplay...that's a completely different set of people. I played that game for an hour on 3 balls and was bored out of my mind....and I suck at pinball and am a huge GoTG fan.
